Faithful Ace needs a permanent or foster home urgently. She is very good with cats and has experience of children but needs to be an only dog and, due to recent traumatic experiences, she needs someone around most of the time. Ace is a beautiful 10 year old German Shepherd girl who came into Oldies Club care because there had been a major change of circumstances in her family. Ace had been a much loved pet who lived inside, but when her male owner had died, Ace was being left for long hours and having to stay outside in the shed. Ace then had to be rehomed as her remaining owner was moving away, and so Ace came into Oldies Club care as an urgent case.
Ace is in an Oldies Club foster home near Penzance in Cornwall, but, although she’s fine with other dogs she’s met, she isn’t settling with the resident dog. We therefore need to move Ace urgently, preferably straight to her forever home to minimize further disruption to this poor old girl. We will also consider offers of an alternative foster home for Ace.
Settled quickly but doesn’t like to be left: Ace settled at her foster home quickly once the resident dog was taken to stay elsewhere. Due to her experience of being left for long hours in a shed, Ace now suffers from separation anxiety and doesn’t like to be left alone.
Generally fine with dogs but needs to live as only dog: Although Ace seems fine with other dogs she has met, she really isn’t getting along with the dog at her foster home. We can’t risk any more upheaval for Ace so she needs a home where she will be the only dog.
Good with cats: Ace is used to living with cats. Her foster carer took her to meet a friend’s cat and there was absolutely no problem.
Used to visiting children: Young children used to visit Ace’s previous home and she was said to be good with them. Her foster carer says that she has been fine with children she has met when they have been on walks.
Excellent on walks: Ace is very good and easy to walk. Her recall is perfect. She doesn’t mind the length of walk and goes for one or two walks per day, depending on the weather. She is happy with no walk so long as she’s with a person.
Good in the car: Ace needs help to get in and out of the car but she is very good and relaxed. She is quiet and well-behaved.
Ace likes… Being close to you; Following you. She can relax when in your company. Ace dislikes… Being left alone at night to sleep – she is frightened. She prefers to be next to a person.
Ace’s perfect home: With somebody there most of time. Preferably no stairs for her to negotiate. She really does not want to be left.
