Aimee – 10 year old female Yorkshire Terrier cross Skye Terrier

Aimee is a Yorkshire Terrier cross Skye Terrier of about 10 years old. She was rescued from Ireland from a woman who had died. She needs a very special and understanding home and someone who would be happy to give her lots of time to come round.

Aimee was found along with 20 other breeding dogs in wooden crates in the back garden in sheds. These dogs had spent their whole lives in these crates and the only time they came out of the crates was to be mated.

Aimee is very unsure at the moment as to what is expected of her. She is not used to human touch and this may take a long time for her to get used to. Aimee needs a very secure garden and someone who may have to get used to the fact that she is just happy in her own territory. It maybe that Aimee does not want to go out for walks. Dogs who have suffered this type of abuse prefer to feel safe within their own home and family.

Aimee would appreciate another dog to live with. In fact when she arrived she arrived here with a tame fox (also owned by the lady who kept this in her kitchen!) and she was very happy to curl up and go to sleep with him in her bed until he went off to a wildlife rescue.

Aimee is fine with cats and small animals and would live happily free range with any type of animal. Although Aimee is very nervous of people, she is not aggressive. At the moment she tries her hardest to get away from even a gentle stroke, but eventually she will learn that petting is good. It may only be with the people that she lives with, but once she gets that bond she will be a very sweet girl.

Aimee does not bark. Years in a crate have taught her that this is a pointless exercise, so she is a very quiet and meek dog.
We would like to see Aimee go to an experienced dog home. She cannot be homed with children as she needs a quiet home and one where doors and gates are not accidentally left open. Aimee will need regular brushing. Although her coat looks short here this is because she had to shaved immediately after she was rescued due to being very matted and in a lot of pain because of it.

Aimee will be spayed, fully vaxed and microchipped, plus wormed and defleaed before she leaves us. A homecheck will be carried out and an adoption fee applies.
