Akido – 4 year old male Akita
Meet 4 year old Akido who is a handsome Akita, who has been passed from pillar to post lately and would like nothing more than a proper home to call his own. Discovered by the dog warden, he was traced back to his breeder who has provided a temporary home for him with her elderly mother. Whilst he has demonstrated his gentleness and calm personality in this situation, understandably this is not a suitable arrangement, given that he requires regular exercise, which his current carer just cannot provide for him. His carer is due to go into hospital in the near future for a long visit, and time is running out for him.
A calm and steady boy, he likes to suss people out before he goes to them – and when he does he adores a good stroke! he has good manners, and shows a knowledge of commands – he was happy to sit, giving both paws and behaves impeccably well in the house. Our assessor gave treats to him, which he took gently without displaying any signs of food aggression. His current carer reports that on occasion he does like to play and will show an interest in toys.
His breeder states that he lived with a female in his previous home, and as such with the right introductions could potentially live with another dog. We do not have any information about him with children or cats, with this in mind he will not be placed in a family with young children.
