Alaska is a 20 month old female Belgian Malinois cross Husky. Alaska is a rescue from Cyprus who is now in a training centre in Cheltenham and ready to find her perfect forever home. Alaska is super, super special. Through no fault of her own, she has missed out on some socialisation and training as a puppy and so has been working very hard on these issues as a young adult. Alaska is a nervous dog on first meeting of people and in very loud, busy environments. She has come on leaps and bounds and with ongoing support from her new human she will continue to increase her confidence too. That being said she will always be slightly reserved on first meeting of people and it is essential that she isn’t rushed into these meetings.
Alaska loves having human company and once bonded she will follow you to the ends of the earth. Alaska is looking for a quiet home with no children and preferably as an only dog. In time she will be able to live with the right calm quiet dog but she we think she still needs time spent with her on a one to one basis for the immediate future so would prefer her to be an only dog. However if her new home had the ability to separate her from another dogs when required and the experience to provide Alaska with the support she needs it might be a possibility. She is learning to walk on a lead without pulling and is learning very fast.
Alaska has been out walking and socialising with the calm dogs at the training centre and does like their company. However most of all Alaska needs a human companion who will give her the time and space she needs to build her confidence up around them. She needs someone who understands the breeds in her mix as she does show definite traits of each breed. She will need to meet any human counterpart on a few occasions before being happy enough to move in with them too. So we would love it if you were able to visit her and perhaps accompany her on some walks and get to know her prior to the adoption.
Alaska is ready to find her forever home and she will make her new human a very devoted doggy companion, once she is settled in her new home and gets to know her new human. She’s the sweetest girl who has overcome a rough start and deserves a human or humans who will adore her and she will return that love a hundredfold She has been vaccinated and microchipped. With patience, time and continuing with her training that is already well underway, this gorgeous, loving girl will become your own adoring, doggy companion.
