Alfie is a small poodle cross who is around ten years old. Alfie is fostered in Gt Yarmouth (FR001). Please please read the whole of this write up before contacting us because this dog is really not for the faint of heart. Clearly he is very cute and very small and fluffy but he has baggage that needs to be addressed. Alfie was in a family home for most of his ten years but a few months ago his owners decided they could no longer tolerate his behaviour.
Alfie is a complicated mix of a little dog that likes his own way and a little dog who was disciplined previously in a confusing manner. He is very manageable for an experienced ‘crabby little dog’ owner. He does need to be muzzled when bathed or groomed but he’s very good at allowing the muzzle to go on and once it’s on he accepts that there’s no point in putting up any protest. He tends to pick one person in the household to be his favourite and that he doesn’t ever argue with. He is also a really affectionate and friendly little lap dog who loves his cuddles and walks. He is excellent on and off lead and loves to play with a ball or toy.
He’s not a bad dog, that’s very rarely the case. He’s a dog that’s gotten confused over the years due to mixed messages from his previous family. New adopters will need to continue to show Alfie the right way to behave and guide him with clear commands and training. Alfie gets on really well with all the other dogs in his foster home but gets a bit screamy around the bigger ones if he even thinks he’s going to get trodden on. He has also previously lived successfully with cats.
