Arthur is a 14 month old male Shih Tzu. Arthur came to us from the council as a stray, he arrived with several lumps on his front leg. Biobsy’s were performed and it came back as a lipoma. This should have been easy to remove ! Once we opened his leg it became apparent these were no ordinary fatty lumps. The lumps were debulked and sent away for analysis. The results showed that poor Arthur had a benighn but aggressive lipoma. This meant that our only opstion was to remove his leg to stop the growth from invading further into him.
We have removed his leg and Arthur is a total little trooper, once again rising to meet his challenges head on. He has coped well with surgery and his wounds are healing nicely. We would love to find him his forever home ready for when he is signed off fit from the vets.
Arthur is an energetic lad but due to his amputation will need shorter walks, a front leg amputation is harder work when walking than a hond limb. For this reason he will need to ensure that his weight is kept slightly lower than you would expect. This will preserve and place less pressure on his remaining leg. He can be re homed with another similar sized dog, his preference would be female, or he who would also be fine to be re homed as a single dog provided that he has company for most of the day.
Arthur has been clean in the house, travels well in the car and is fine to be left for short periods. He has been neutered, vaccinated and micro chipped and is up to date with flea and worming treatment. He is currently beinf fostered in Bagshot Surrey.
