Astra is a 5 month old female Whippet Cross. Astra is a beautiful black and white little girl with the most sweet eyes. If you look into her eyes you just have to love her. She’s shy and timid towards people but if you don’t put any pressure on her she’ll slowly come out of her shell. She wants to have cuddles but doesn’t know how. With the right person she’d blossom into the lovely girl that’s still hidden inside of her. Astra will be a medium size girl and at present she weighs 7.5 kilos (Mum weighed 10kg), and she stands at 35cm (will grow a little more).
Astra looks a little like a Whippet, possibly has some Greyhound in her, but she will remain quite small. Astra would love to be homed with another gentle dog that wouldn’t dominate her. Astra and her siblings were born to a stray in Spain on a local part finished housing estate, they were fed by the residents who contacted the local rescue PAWS PATAS for help. There were 5 puppies in total rescued, plus mother also – now she is spayed and rehomed. We can test with cats if required.
Fosterer’s report: Astra would be best of in a quiet environment with someone who’d have the patience to guide her, and perhaps another dog to live with. She’s good though in the pack but sometimes she’s been bullied as she’s very submissive. Astra looks a bit like a small Galgo girl and she’s the most timid of the litter. She will need a lot of TLC. But by the look of her face you can tell she’s a very lovely girl. She just doesn’t know how to express herself and what to think of humans.
With the right family’s they’ll all will grow into gorgeous dogs. As they’ve made a lot of progression in the 2 weeks they’re with me now. But like her brothers and sisters not used to human contact as they lived in a olive grove until they were 4 months old. But we’re working on it and they are very happy though to see me when I’m entering their kennel and get excited when they see me approaching. All the pups are good with other animals, no experience with cats, although they would have mixed with the street cats whilst on the urbanisation. Happy healthy puppies that will need some time and work to integrate in family life, and we are working on lead training and house training at the moment. No food guarding observed.

We can not home dogs from Spain or Portugal to people who work, even part time. They need someone at home all day, they are not used to being alone, so even a couple of hours broken with a dog walker will be too much for them to cope with. They are highly likely to develop separation anxiety which is distressing for them and everyone in their new home.
Adoption Fee : £ 265 – to be paid direct to the Spanish/Portuguese rescue to cover travel costs via UK bank account
