Gerty – 2 year old female Old Tyme Bulldog
Gerty is a wonderful 2 year old female Old Tyme Bulldog who we have been asked to help find a home. She is what they used to call a ‘handsome lady’ in the old days. Initially quiet around new people, she does come out of her shell once she gets to know you and then you get to see her loving and playful side.
Gerty really enjoys her walks (ideally on soft ground) and she likes saying hello to other dogs, but most of all Gerty is at her happiest when she has her tennis ball.
Gerty will need on-going skin care which will need to be discussed with the Battersea Clinic. A new home with older teenagers would be a possible match. Gerty is good with dogs and can potentially live with the right match.
Gerty isn’t too fond of being in the public viewing kennels, and seems to get missed out! She’s a super super girl, who comes up to see me when I visit, and enjoys a cuddle, I’ve been very much taken with her, and if I didn’t have a house full of Corsos I’d foster her myself. I think she’d make a retired but active couple a very fine companion but the staff at Battersea have the full package on her rehome info. Just to mention, she’s not as large as she looks in her pictures, she’s certainly solid, but not huge. She’s one of their longest stay residents, and deserves a happy home.
For more info about Gerty please contact Nicola, her rescue co-ordinator on 020 7627 9231 or breedrescue@battersea.org.uk

Poor Simba is an 11 year old male Staffordshire Bull Terrier cross who has now been at Battersea three times for no fault of his own. His last owners seperated and were unable to give him the attention he needs. He is a charming older man with a lovely affectionate nature and a winning smile – honest!
This sweet-heart of a dog just wants to be loved and is looking for a secure safe home that will be his last with owners who will give him time to settle in.
Simba can be vocal for attention at times — not so much loud barking as a constant ‘chatter’ so he will need owners who will be understanding and ignore this behaviour.
When Simba is in an office with people he settles down after a short while and is really good if they just ignore his ‘talking’ to them!

Smiley Simba could live with a nice female dog that will be happy sharing her home with a handsome older man. Simba can also live with older teenagers who will love him for who he is and not expect too much from him.
Can you offer this lovely lad a new home after 3 years waiting patiently?

Violet – 6 month old female Staffordshire Bull Terrier
Violet is a 6 month old female Staffordshire Bull Terrier, she is a sweet girl but she does have a sensitive side. She came in to us with an injury to her back leg and she had to have surgey so any new owner will need to speak with one of our vets before taking her home.

She is looking for owners that will give her time to settle in and all basic training will be needed as she is only a young girl and needs a secure home. Violet can live with teenagers that are calm and will be gentle with her due to her back leg. She is not able to live with another dog at this stage as her new owners will need to give her there attention. She will need a home with a garden.

Lula Belle is a 1-2 year old female German Shepherd, she is such a lovely girl. She is responsive and interactive, however, is quite a complex girl and does have a sensitive side and can be easily worried in new situations so therefore can only live with teens 15+ who are calm and experienced around dogs, especially large breeds.

At the same time though, Lula Belle has a strong personality that will show more once she is settled in a home.
She is to be the only dog in the household as she loves her people so much so can get a little jealous. Lula Belle is a fantastic girl who will be a brilliant pet in the right household.

8Apr2008 | Battersea Dogs and Cats Home | READ MOREBouncer – 10 month old male Border Collie
Bouncer is a 10 month old male Border Collie who was brought to Battersea as a stray, he was micro-chipped and our lost dogs and cats department located an owner but sadly they did not want him back. We have limited history on Bouncer but know he has already had a few homes, he needs experienced owners used to Collies or similar high energy working breeds to understand his needs and cope with breed traits.

Intelligent and trainable youngster who would enjoy and excel in doggy sports like agility, flyball or obedience, he is eager to learn and is a busy boy needing things to do. Bouncer needs most training from scratch, also it is unknown if he is house trained. Ideally he needs to live in a more rural location where he will have plenty of open space.
Bouncer is a loving, responsive and manipulitive boy, he is typical of the breed and loves to chase moving objects so owners will need to work hard on control and recall outside. Bouncer could live with other dogs, he enjoys winding them up if he can and may annoy weaker or elderly dogs.
Once settled and if kept mentally & physically stimulated Bouncer could be left for short periods, he gets bored quickly and is liable to find his own amusements! Ideally we are looking for an all adult household as Bouncer needs a calm approach, teenagers would be considered if experienced with dogs.
In Collie loving hands Bouncer will be a fantastic addition, If you feel you can offer him a new home please contact the rehoming team at Old Windsor on 01784 494443, apply online or email us on bow.rehomers@dogshome.org.

Ollie is a 6-12 month old Parson Russell Terrier male, he is a nice young lad he does have a cheeky but sweet nature. He is looking for experienced owner that will be able to socialise him with calm mature dogs and will be consistant with his training, as he is not sure how to interact with different types of dogs.

Ollie will also need to live in a semi rural location as he has a sensitive side to him and he would get easily distracted with the busy London lifestyle. He will need a home with no other dogs, he can live with a cat that is used to dogs and with teenagers that are sensible and lived with a dog before.
If you feel you can offer him a home please come in and register with us or contact the rehoming line number on 020 7627 9234.
8Apr2008 | Battersea Dogs and Cats Home | READ MOREFrankie – 1-2 year old female Staffordshire Bull Terrier Cross
Frankie is a 1-2 year old female Staffordshire Bull Terrier cross who was brought to Battersea as a stray so sadly we have no information on this bubbly girl. At this stage Frankie is very boisterous and can get over-excited at times, she will need confident, active and experienced owners to cope.

Like most Staffordshire Bull Terriers Frankie is intelligent and trainable, she will make an active yet loving addition once settled. Unfortunately Frankie cannot live with other dogs or children, teenagers would be considered.
As Frankie was a stray we do not know how she travels in a car, if she is house-trained or how she copes being left alone, so until she is settled Frankie cannot be left alone for long periods.
If you feel you offer this gorgeous and bubbly youngster a home please contact the rehoming team at Old Windsor on 01784 494443, apply online or email us on bow.rehomers@dogshome.org.
8Apr2008 | Battersea Dogs and Cats Home | READ MOREBertha – 2-3 year old female Labrador Cross
Bertha is a 2-3 year old female Labrador cross who was brought to Battersea as a stray so sadly we do not have any history on this bouncy big girl. Bertha is looking for experienced owners ideally used to larger dogs like Labradors, Boxers or similar lively types.

Although Bertha is a bigger girl she is gentle and has manners but will need confident approach from owners in training and toy play. Bertha is trainable and already knows some basic commands, it is unknown if she is house-trained.
Bertha loves being around people and seems to become anxious and vocal when seperated, she ideally needs owners around the majority of the time to help combat this. At this stage Bertha cannot live with other dogs or children.
If you feel you could offer this loving and active girl a home please contact the rehoming team at Old Windsor on 01784 494443, apply online or email us on bow.rehomers@dogshome.org.
8Apr2008 | Battersea Dogs and Cats Home | READ MORERoxy – 5-6 month old female Cross-Breed
Roxy is a 3-4 month old cross-breed female who was found wandering the streets so sadly we have no history on this little puppy, she is a bubby and very confident character who seems to have endless energy. Roxy will need active outdoor loving owners to keep up with her and provide the stimulation she needs on a daily basis, Roxy will get bored easily and needs activities.

Roxy is intelligent but easily distracted, owners will need to be patient and dedicate time to her training and puppy social work, she will need all training from scratch and this includes house training. Roxy will be a rewarding challenge for the experienced dog owner, she is not suitable for the first time dog owner.
Roxy adores other dogs but is non-stop and full on, most dogs will not cope with this constant whirl-wind flying around, she is distracted by dogs and will not listen to people if there are dogs near by! Due to this we feel at this stage Roxy will be better in a home on her own without other dogs.
Once Roxy is fully house trained and settled she could be left for short periods, being a puppy it would be advisable that new owners crate train Roxy to help with this but to also provide a secure area when owners are away from the house for any period. Unfortunately Roxy cannot live with children, ideally an all adult household is needed but teenagers would be considered.
If you feel you can offer this little live wire a new home please contact the rehoming team at Old Windsor on 01784 494443, apply online or email us on bow.rehomers@dogshome.org.
