Valencia – 1 year old female Lurcher
Valencia or Lexi as she is now known is an extremely calm and placid fawn 1 year old Lurcher girl. Lexi is now in a foster home in Cheshire and doing extremely well. We were not sure if she had been in a home before, but it is looking like she may have been.

Lexi will benefit from a calm home where she can be given the time and chance to blossom. She needs to be shown how rewarding the relationship between owner and hound can be, then she will blossom as she comes out of her shell discovering what a great bond she can have with her owner – fun, love and a secure home. Ideally we would like Lexi to be in a home with another dog for company. She is excellent with other dogs but is too interested in small fluffies to be considered with cats.
Although Lexi looks very Greyhound, she is a lurcher and there is a smattering of another breed in her, however she isn’t quite as big as a Greyhound, but more petite.

She is good on the lead and an excellent traveler but can be a little insecure when in surroundings she is new too, this will soon change with time and confidence. Lexi if fit and well and looking for her forever home now. She is fully vaccinated and is due to be spayed this week.
For more information or to discuss offering Lexi a home please contact the rescue directly.
15Mar2010 | Erin Hounds Cheshire | READ MORERowan – 18 month old female Lurcher
Please meet Rowan who is a happy and confident fawn Lurcher girl who is only 18 months old. Rowan would make a great family pet . She has character by the bucket loads, loves people and life and being in the thick of it!

She was involved in a road accident before coming into Erin’s care, so has a slightly misshapen hind leg, but it has been seen and assessed by a vet and causes her no problems. Rowan is good with other dogs but not with cats or small furries.

As with all greyhounds/lurchers who have only known kennels housetraining will be needed during the initial stages of settling in. Rowan is currently at kennels in the Cheshire area, is fully vaccinated and will be spayed prior to homing.

For more information or to discuss offering Rowan please get in touch with the rescue directly.
15Mar2010 | Erin Hounds Cheshire | READ MOREFlite – 6 year old female Greyhound
Please meet our stunning, beautiful, loving and gentle 6 year old Greyhound girl Flite. She is such a lovely and gentle girl. She last raced late August 2009, by Christmas she was surrendered into a sanctuary in Co Mayo, in skeletal condition having just had a litter of pups taken off her.
Flite is a really gentle soul, still wondering what has happened in her world, but showing a beautiful disposition which is a real. Credit to Flite and her gentle nature.
She is excellent on the lead, good with all other dogs and is an excellent traveller. We feel that Flite would be more suited to a quieter home, she would love her home comforts and could live happily with another dog.
We hope to cat test her before too long as well. She is vaccinated and neutered and located in Cheshire.
19Feb2010 | Erin Hounds Cheshire | READ MORERoxy – 7 year old female Greyhound
Roxy is a 7 year old Greyhound girl. She is a beautiful Roxy, a very gentle fawn girl. She hasn’t had much of a life so far but she hopes 2010 will be the start of better things for her, she certainly deserves it and has so much to offer a potential owner.
Until now she has been used as a racing machine, during which she suffered two broken legs, one of which was untreated, she was then bred from excessively. Thankfully, all that is behind her now- she has been rescued from Ireland (where most greyhounds are bred) and is now using her gorgeous big brown eyes to look for a permanent home.
Roxy is currently in a foster home and she really is proving to be the easiest of dogs around the house, clean, calm and loving – she is truly a lovely girl. Roxy is excellent with all other dogs too.
Roxy isn’t a dog with a need of too much exercise and would make a brilliant companion dog for someone with mobility compromises or as a family pet. Roxy has been spayed and vaccinated and is in a foster home in Cheshire.
4Jan2010 | Erin Hounds Cheshire | READ MOREJez – 3 year old male Saluki cross Lurcher
Please meet our black beauty Jez who is a 3 year old male Lurcher cross Saluki who is currently being fostered in the Cheshire area. Jez is one of the kindest dogs we have ever come to know despite him obviously having lived in very dark places in his past. He is as kind as the day is long, very much a real treasure. As Jez must have been homeless prior to coming into our care he has some very heavy scarring on his body bless him.
Although Jez has been great in his foster home with visiting children, we feel that living in a home with young children would be one step too far. However another dog or two would be great though. He needs a calm, understanding home, somewhere local to have a run around/rural area and a good sized garden where he can feel safe in his own space. There is still so much more to come from Jez as he is opening up more all the time. With more love, care and nuturing someone is going to be given love and trust back tenfold.

Yet another strong point for Jez is he is highly likely to be ok with cats too. Jez is now neutered, fully vaccinated and microchipped.
If you feel you have what it takes to give Jez the peace he deserves, please contact us for any more information or to discuss offering a home
2Dec2009 | Erin Hounds Cheshire | READ MOREJazz – 3-4 year old female Lurcher
This is our lovely 3-4 year old Lurcher girl, Jazz – who is a real family girl. She is a sweet gentle soul who adores people without being in your face. Whilst living at a sanctuary in Ireland she was surrounded by every shape and size of dogs and was a paragon of virtue. We even think that Jazz could live with a cat with careful introductions.
Jazz ideally needs a home with a lot of human contact/preferably someone home most of the day. She would make a wonderful companion dog (including a person with special needs) and would also make a fantastic family dog as she is so calm and loving.
Jazz is neutered, fully vaccinated and microchipped.
26Nov2009 | Erin Hounds Cheshire | READ MORESandy – 7 year old male Greyhound
This is Sandy, a lovely 7 year old Greyhound boy who has never experienced a sofa…ahhh bless! Please can someone give him the chance he so deserves to have some comfort in his life.
He last raced in 2005 and since then has been languishing in racing kennels in Ireland. Now he has the chance of the good life. He is an extremely happy and outgoing chap. Good on the lead, good with other greyhounds and also around other dogs. At the moment he is living with another Greyhound at his foster home in North Wales.
As Sandy is such a good boy when left alone he would be suitable for a working couple with a nice walk in the morning and evening, he really is such a happy chap. He has been to several fundraising events with the girls from Erin Hounds and has been a trooper thoughout and never put a paw wrong. He just needs the chance to go from Racing Hound to Sofa Hound.
He is a striking, attractive dog, he has had a fresh dental, neutered, vaccinated and ready for his home – can you offer him the chance?
26Nov2009 | Erin Hounds Cheshire | READ MORELemon – 2 year old male Saluki cross Whippet
Lemon might seem a strange name for a dog – trust us, it suits him! Lemon is a Saluki cross possibly with a Whippet as he isn’t very big, he neutered, vaccinated and microchipped and about 2 years old.
He was picked up straying on the outskirts of Dublin in June 2008. He is currently in a foster home and is now ready for his forever home. The picture does not show his wonderful colouring, he is a really unusual colour – a sort of mocha colour with silver tones to it.
Lemon is a really busy, up for anything character, life is one permanent playground for him, so he needs a busy home with lots going on. He is still short of some of his manners and so needs someone capable of continuing his education and also able to stimulate him.
He is excellent with children and people in general but as he is a little boisterous, he would be better suited to being with children say 13 and above. No doubt going back to some bad experiences in his past, Lemon can get upset if asked to move from his chosen resting spot by his collar, this is another reason why we say he should not be homed with young children, however, it is important to stress that he spends pretty much every morning in the company of his fosterers 2 year old granddaughter and the adore each other, his collar is simply removed to avoid any problem, although it is strongly felt he poses no risk to her no matter what she did to him !
He would be suited to someone with experience of either sighthounds or bigger dogs. The first few days of settling in may be trying so if you want a push button dog, Lemon is not for you. If you want a bundle of exuberance to laugh at and with and to enjoy – then this is your lad.
He needs a well fenced garden with high boundaries. Lemon can jump BUT it has been established that he only jumps to get TO you, in his foster home he has free access in and out of the house as he likes, is living alongside a foot path and is not interested on what is on the other side, as long as his ‘people’ are in his vision !
He is completely clean in the house.
He is excellent in the home with other dogs but needs further work when meeting other dogs on walks etc as he can be opinionated so would need someone experienced if he is to be homed where he will meet lots of dogs out walking. He is currently fostered in this environment and this is currently being worked on and his fosters have made real progress when out and about with him.
He enjoys off lead runs and play with a tennis ball in an averagely secure field that his fosterers have access too.
He LOVES to go in the car.
He is unlikely also to be cat safe. One stipulation is that Lemon must never go back into kennels. his fosterers are happy to home board him if his new home does not have access to a suitable home boarder.
Please give Lemon some thought, he has been waiting for a while now for the right home and is so ready for it. Thank you
