Lurch – 2-3 year old male Lurcher
Lurch is a stunning rough coated Lurcher who recently made his way into our care from a stray pound situation. He is around 2-3 years old and stands around 26″ tall.

Lurch is currently in a foster home situation with a bedlington cross whippet male, a whippet female and a cat all of whom he gets on well with. Lurch is a clean boy and picked up housetraining quickly and has been fine to be left in the company of the other dogs when his carers have been out and about. Although we feel Lurch could adapt to being an only dog with someone around at all times we do not feel he would be happy on his own for longer periods of time and could become quite clingy. Ideally he would love a home with another companion for company.
Lurch has been wonderful out and about with all the other dogs he has met on his walks and is a very polite and sociable boy. He travels well and walks like a dream on lead. Not only is Lurch beautiful on the outside he is beautiful on the inside also.
Lurch is vaccinated, kennel cough vaccinated, treated for parasites, neutered and microchipped. He is based in Staffordshire.

Alfie is a gorgeous 16 week old brindle Lurcher puppy. His Mums is whippet / collie / bedlington / greyhound and we think their Dad is a terrier; it was an accidental mating. It is thought that Alfie will not be a big dog, perhaps 22-23″ to the shoulder.

As with all puppies Alfie will need a home where someone is around all the time to help with housetraining and other basic training. It’s always beneficial for puppies to attend classes for socialisation purposes. Alfie is currently in foster care in Staffordshire, any potential new home will need to be willing to travel to meet him.
Alfie has been treated for parasites and has received his first vaccination. The 2nd vaccination be carried out if he is still with us when it is due. As per out adoption agreement it will be necessary for any new home to arrange to have the Alfie neutered at a relevant age and proof provided back to us.

Scamp is a handsome 9 month old Lurcher lad who was surrendered to Gap by his owner. He is a very sweet lad, typical lurcher puppy who likes a game. He is good with other dogs, good with cats and children, house trained, walks well on lead, travels well and is good off lead.

Scamp has separation anxiety and is destructive when left alone however Scamp was an only dog and we feel that this is probably the cause of the problem. He has moved today into foster today with 5 other dogs and cats and loves being with them. We are hoping that over the next few days as he settles down we can leave him in their company and that the upset will rectify.
Scamp will need a home with at least one other dog as company, he would also benefit from having someone at home to help him get use to being left. He is in a foster home in Staffordshire.
Scamp is vaccinated, treated for parasites, microchipped and will shortly be neutered.

Kelvin is a 3 ½ year old greyhound. He is a fabulous lad and is proving to be good with other dogs both big and small but he is currently muzzled out in public whilst he continues his socialisation as per our insurance. He is pictured muzzled as he was out fundraising at a Meet & Greet.

Kelvin is currently in foster with a male and female greyhound both of whom he gets on well with. Kelvin has been good being left whilst his foster carer is out at work and has been clean in the house after a couple of accidents when he first arrived. Out on lead Kelvin walks well and does not react when the foster carers greyhounds bounce around when seeing a small dog or cat, however he will occasionally have a bounce and jump forward for no reason other than he quite fancies it. Kelvin is NOT cat friendly
Kelvin travels well and enjoys being in the car. He is great with children and is currently fostered with a child so should be okay with dog savvy children 5 plus with supervision. This lad has a fantastic cheeky persona and is going to settle into a wonderful boy. He is in a foster home in Staffordshire.
Kelvin is vaccinated, kennel cough vaccinated, treated for parasites, neutered, has received a dental and is microchipped.

Sylvester is a 2-3 year old Collie cross Saluki who came into our care from a stray pound environment. He is currently in a foster home with a male lurcher and an older terrier cross both of whom he gets on well with. Sylvester has proved so far to be good with all other dogs he has met. He is however not cat friendly.

Sylvester has quickly picked up housetraining and has been fine to be left in the company of the other dogs when his carers are out and about. He travels well and walks well on the lead. Sylvester is going to be a fabulous all round dog, he loves to have a loon about and stretch his legs but will definitely need a home with the patience to put into place his recall work due to having the saluki gene.
Sylvester is vaccinated, kennel cough vaccinated, treated for parasites, microchipped and neutered. He is based in Staffs.

Dan is around 6 years of age and is a medium sized Lurcher standing around 25″ tall. This boy has a such a beautiful nature. He is happy, sociable, loving, fabulous with other dogs, polite, gentle and I could go on and on. His only vice is he does not like cats or small furries.

Dan is currently in foster with three other dogs, 1 elderly greyhound girl, and one older cross breed male and another young male greyhound. He has been the epitomy of politeness since landing with them and has walked in like he has always lived there. Dan walks well on the lead and is clean in the house, he travels like a dream and is fine left with the company of the other dogs. We do feel that Dan could be an only dog IF there was someone around most of the time but he does occasionally lie and wait at the bottom of the stairs for his foster Mum so could become clingy if allowed to. He has been great when left with the other dogs though and settles quickly.
Dan is such a steady lad and one of the nicest natured hounds we have had through this rescue someone is going to have a wonderful soul mate in this boy.
Dan is vaccinated, kennel cough vaccinated, treated for parasites, microchipped and neutered. He is in a foster home in Staffordshire.

Wurzel is a young Lurcher lad of around 16 months old. He came into our care from a stray pound environment in a bit of a mess. He had clearing mange, was a little underweight and his skin was very sore. With treatment this has all cleared up now and his coat is taking on a beautiful shine and his weight is now good.

Wurzel is a very easy little dog. He has been clean in his foster home from day one having only one small accident. He gets on well with the other dogs he is co existing with (3 lurchers) and there are cats in the foster home however as he has recovered he has started to chase them and show much more interest so would be better rehomed without them. Wurzel would be fine to live in a home with other dogs and would be equally happy as an only dog we feel if his new family were around most of the time as he is very much a people dog. Wurzel is good on the lead and travels well. He is also good off lead in secure areas but would require more recall work before he is allowed off into the big wide world.
Wurzel loves children however he does jump up a little which we are working on so would be better with dog savy children 5 plus. As Wurzel was so thin and had obviously been fending for himself for some time he can be a bit of a thief where food is concerned if its left out in his reach so worktops and bins have to be secured. This will get better as he gets less hungry and realises that meals are a more regular thing.
Wurzel is an absolute little star and someone is going to be very lucky to offer this boy a home. He is in a foster home in Surrey.
Wurzel is vaccinated, kennel cough vaccinated, treated for parasites, microchipped and neutered.

Mavis is an 8 year old Bedlington Terrier. She came into our care in a terrible state last year from a stray pound. It was obvious that Mavis had been repeatedly bred from and we had a nightmare few months getting her out of phantom pregnancies and repeated milk production. On top of that she had a long standing ear infection that meant ear hair was matted inside. The scar tissue was horrendous and her ears looked like cauliflowers. She also stank to high heaven and had the most horrendous skin.

Mavis now is doing very well. She stays on a bland diet of complete food and is not allowed any tit bits otherwise it can cause her skin to flare up. She is very typical of the Bedlington breed. She can be quite sparky with other terrier types that bark or lunge at her and will bark and lunge back. She tends to get on better with larger breeds. She is quite vocal and will bark at horses and other passing animals – she does need to be told this is not acceptable. Mavis is not cat friendly. Mavis is currently living in a foster home with sighthounds and a medium sized terrier cross male.
Mavis would be best suited to a Bedlington or terrier experienced home preferably with an older quieter male companion. Out and about Mavis walks well on lead, happy to potter about. She can be good off lead at times but if she gets a scent of something she’ll take herself off to investigate. This isn’t at a great speed but it can be a bit of a trial to get her back on the lead at this point. She is very stubborn and headstrong! Even by Bedlington standards Mavis is tiny measuring just 14″ to the shoulder and weighing around 7kg.
Mavis travels well and is fully housetrained and fine to be left in the company of the other dogs, she will though bark though at passers by if she can get to the window.
Due to the problems with her skin Mavis has a strict diet that must be adhered to. When she does suffer with skin flare ups this is usually controlled with a short course of steroids. Mavis has been spayed, vaccinated, treated for parasites and microchipped.
22Feb2010 | Greyhound Gap | READ MOREComet – 2 year old female Lurcher
Comet is a 2 year old fantastic medium sized Lurcher girl. She came to us a couple of months ago with Bonnie and went into a foster home with view to keep. Sadly whilst running off lead Comet cut her foot open badly. Due to her not being able to be exercised because of the injury and work commitments she has had to come back into our care. She is fabulous with other dogs and good both on and off lead. She is also fine to be left for short periods of time and is crate trained. However, Comet has quite high energy levels so really needs another young lurcher to hoon around with and would prefer a home where someone is around most of the time to continue to bring her on and help her settle.

Comet is not cat friendly. Comet spent some time in a foster home with a child, she loved him and all of his friends getting on well with them all. She would flourish in a family home with another young dog as a companion. Although Comet is almost fully housetrained she does have the occasionally accident so a little more work would be required with this.
Comet is such a sweet girl and really deserves a loving patient home where all members of the family are committed to giving her the love she so desperately deserves. This girl really is a gem and we are now desperate to get her out into a permanent home or foster home. She is currently based in Staffordshire, Midlands.
The foot is all now healed perfectly and will not cause her any further problems. Comet is vaccinated, kennel cough vaccinated, treated for parasites, microchipped and spayed.

Juno is a 7 year old black and white female greyhound. She was originally homed by us a couple of years but sadly due to her owners emigrating she come back into our care.

Juno is a beautiful hound who is so together in some ways but in other ways has a nervous edge and a few quirks! She is clean in the house, good to be left and gets on well with other dogs. She is currently in foster in Derbyshire with 5 other greyhounds all of whom she gets on well with. Juno walks well on lead and is fine meeting other dogs however she is not cat friendly!
We feel having always been with another dog that Juno would be best with the company of another hound or at least with someone around all of the time as we feel she would struggle if left completely on her own. Now for her major quirk; hard flooring! Most hounds get over it and it’s not very often we ask but we do feel that Juno would be best in a carpeted house as she really does struggle. She would probably manage if you were willing to put a large rugs down but just completely refuses to walk on laminate or vinyl. Juno travels well and settles easily into a car and another home environment.
Juno is vaccinated, treated for parasites, microchipped and spayed.
