Gypsy – 1 year old female Labrador Cross

Gypsy is a beautiful 1 year old Labrador cross female, medium collie size, who came to us from a pound. Gypsy loves other dogs but cannot live with cats. She is such a loving girl and likes nothing better than to roll on her back for a tummy rub.

Gypsy would love to live with an active person or family as she loves her walks and has a great zest for life. She is housetrained, good in the car and is non-destructive. Gypsy could live with teenagers, but we feel she would be a bit bouncy for younger children. Gypsy will make someone a fantastic loving and loyal companion. She is a very intelligent dog and is highly responsive to commands. She would be perfect for someone who likes to do agility, and we think she would thoroughly enjoy it!

Gypsy is being fostered in the Taunton Somerset area, TA7

Zak – 3 year old male Staffordshire Bull Terrier

Zak is a gorgeous Staffordshire Bull Terrier boy aged approximately 3 years old, who came to us from a pound. He has been as good as gold since he has been in foster care with us. He knows all his commands, such as sit, stay, give paw and he will go and lie down on his bed when he is asked to. He is fully housetrained and has had no accidents in the house at all since he arrived.

He travels very well and is quiet and calm in the car, he loves to go on outings. He is also completely non-destructive. Zak is wonderful with other dogs and has shown no aggression to other dogs whatsoever, he is as soft as butter, both with people, adults and children and other dogs. (please note that we don’t rehome any dogs to families with children under the age of 8 years) He is loving and playful with other dogs, particularly with the other dog, Kelsey, in the photographs. We are not sure what he would be like with cats in the home, but he wants to chase them when he has seen them out and about, so we recommend he doesn’t live with cats.

Zak adores attention and cuddles. He has huge soft brown eyes and a huge heart of gold to match. Zak will be neutered before he goes to his new home. Zak is currently being fostered in the Sidmouth, Devon area, EX10

Woody – 2 year old male Staffordshire Bull Terrier

Hi my name is Woody, I’m a Staffordshire Bull Terrier boy and I am about 2 years old. I’m one of your old time proper staffies, chunky , grand and unbearably handsome (if I do say so myself) Ah, they just don’t make ‘em like me anymore! Yet I could be mistaken for a teddy bear because all I want to do is cuddle people. If I could talk, I would sound like Frank Butcher from Eastenders, and I’ve got the personality to match. I’m told I have one of the best ‘Staffie Voices’ for miles around, and I’m proud of it. I don’t over-use my voice, but I’ve mastered just when to use it, for the cuteness factor.

My story up until now is a sad one: I was kept in a cage for a very long time and never taken out. It was very lonely and uncomfortable, and my claws grew way too long. I waited and waited for someone to come and take me out, but the waiting seemed to be in vain. One day though, a man saw me in my cage and took pity on me. He took me to his flat and let me stay with him. The man and his wife cut my over-long claws and took me for a walk, the walk was glorious, it was wonderful to smell the fresh air and feel the grass beneath my feet once again, but I’d been in my cage for so long that my feet bled on that first walk.

The man told me I could not stay with him for long because he had a dog that didn’t like me and no room in his flat. Reluctantly I was moved on and now Once Loved Dog Rescue are taking care of me. I’m in a foster home with lots of other dogs, but I am not very comfortable with all the dogs around, so I’m having to be kept separately from them. I don’t mind meeting dogs when I’m out on a walk, but I don’t really like to share my space with them. I spent a long time in that cage, and now I guess I’m just a bit confused.

My dream is to find somewhere I can stay forever. To find someone who I can give all the love I have in my huge staffie heart to. Someone who will return that love and who will never again put me in a cage.

Woody will be neutered before rehoming. He would be best not to be rehomed with cats and we are looking for a home with older teenage children.

Woody is being fostered in the Somerset area, TA7

Georgie – 9-10 month old female Staffordshire Bull Terrier

Hey there – this is the gorgeous Georgie who is a female Staffordshire Bull Terrier, probably about 9-10 months old, and has been in kennels for a long time. She is speyed and vaccinated, and currently living in a foster home in Somerset TA7.

Georgie is a very intelligent girl, and picks up commands very easily. She has a very sweet nature and is always willing to please. She’s very beautiful and elegant, with quite long paws. Georgie is fantastic with other dogs and cats, and would be suitable for a home with older children only because all dogs have boisterous moments, and when she does we wouldn’t want her to knock a child over (please note we do not rehome any dogs to families with children under 8).

Georgie is a wonderful girl who will be a brilliant addition to any family. She travels well and is fully housetrained.

Barney – 2 year old male Labrador Cross

Barney is a gorgeous 2 year old Labrador cross. He was originally at a kennels from a puppy. He was then returned at about 8 months. For the next year Barney was in kennels with minimal interaction with people. One of our foster carers knew of Barney and decided to take it upon herself to try and help him.

“We felt extremely sorry for Barney as he seemed like he would make somebody a wonderful pet. We decided to foster Barney for a while in the hope we could find him a permanent loving home. After three weeks of advertising Barney a lovely couple decided to adopt him. They had a 14 year old lurcher and were looking for a younger dog who they could go on lots of walks with. They fell in love with Barney and realised how loving he was. After 3 weeks they were out on a walk and Barney jumped up and grabbed the owners arm. He continued to do this on various occasions but it is only over exuberance in play and it is not aggressive.

Unfortunately the couple decided they needed to return Barney to us so we would be able to find him a more suitable home where he can have the training he so desperately needs.

Barney would make someone a fantastic pet. Every night he happily sits on the sofa and loves cuddles he is also very intelligent. He is house trained, gets on very well with cats and kittens, vaccinated and neutered and he is a healthy 2 and a half year old dog who desperately needs a committed trainer and owner to help him progress. Barney would love to live with another dog as he loves to play and enjoys doggie company. We are hoping that an adopter will come forward so Barney doesn’t have to go back to a kennel environment where he would deteriorate.”

Edie – 6-8 year old female Staffordshire Bull Terrier

Hello, my name is Edie and i’m 6-8 years old, affectionately known as Eenie Weenie Edie, because although I am a Staffordshire Bull Terrier, I am a tiny one. It’s been said that I look like an Ewok or Yoda, and I suppose I do really. I also have another nickname, Ena Sharples, but I don’t think I look much like her do I? I don’t know what happened but one day, I found myself in a cage in a strange place with no special someone to cuddle up to. It was very noisy and I felt very alone there.

I stayed there for what seemed like forever, until one sunny day, a lovely girl called Becky picked me up and took me out of the cage. Becky was so kind to me, she took me to her house and that was the happiest day ever! I met all of her dogs and her cats, and she even had a sofa that she let me cuddle up on. I am still staying with Becky, but she has a lot of other doggies to help, so I need to find a person of my very own to look after me. I am very well behaved and I know my P’s and Q’s. I know that the toilet is very definitely outside

I am very kind and I am happy to fit into any home (as long as it has a sofa and someone who likes to cuddle) I get on very well with my doggie friends and cat friends and I get on with children too. (over the age of 8, those are the rules of the rescue, so I’m told) I have been speyed and vaccinated. I am not a young girl now, I think I’m about 8 years old, but please don’t be put off by my age, I am so very loving and giving, and all I want is to belong somewhere with someone who loves me. Please could you get in touch with Cathy, the rescue lady, if you think I can come and stay with you.

Thank you, Love from Edie

Edie is being fostered in the Somerset area, TA7

Kelsey – 8 month old male Labrador cross Lurcher

Kelsey is a beautiful 8 month old male Labrador cross Lurcher. Kelsey is a gorgeous honey colour with the sweetest, kindest eyes you could ever see. He really loves other dogs and just wants to be every dog’s friend. He adores people, but as he has had some trauma in his past, he can still be wary of new people coming into the house. He will bark at new people, but it’s just a fear thing and he would never actually be nasty. New people just frighten him. He can also be a bit nervous still when out on walks in busy places, but this is only to be expected given what he has been through. He is gaining his confidence every day though. He is also excellent with children (over the age of 8. We don’t rehome any dogs to families with children under 8 years) and he could happily live with cats.

Kelsey had a very heavy worm burden when he first arrived, and he was very thin, he still needs to put on some weight, as the worms took their toll on his little frame, but he has been fully treated for it, and is recovering nicely, but he still needs to gain some physical strength. We feel that he is not strong enough to be neutered at the moment…Our usual policy is to neuter all dogs before they are rehomed, but in this case, it’s not right for Kelsey and as a one off will be amended. We therefore insist that he is neutered after rehoming, when he is strong enough physically. We will amend our adoption agreement to reflect this, but we will be arranging the neutering ourselves so that we can ensure it is carried out. The adopter will need to sign this agreeement. Kelsey adores being cuddled and playing with his toys. He is now also housetrained.

We would prefer a home in the south west area for Kelsey. He does suffer from car sickness, although this has improved a great deal. He is now ‘drooly’ in the car, rather than actually being sick. He is also much better in the car with someone who he trusts sat next to him or with doggie company in the car.

The ideal home for Kelsey would be with a family or an active couple who have one or more other dogs for him to play with. We would also want whoever offers him a home to continue his socialisation and take him to training classes. He was a very despondent and depressed little man when he first arrived. He had been through things a pup should never have to go through. He is a very special boy and we are looking for a very special home for him to stay for the rest of his life.

Libby – 18 month old female English Bull Terrier cross Staffordshire Bull Terrier

Libby is a beautiful English Bull Terrier cross Staffordshire Bull Terrier female, aged approximately 18 months old. Libby is house trained and very clean, she is not destructive at all. She is great with people and children, she is currently in foster care with children, the youngest being 9 years old. She has not been tested with children under 9, but we do not rehome any dogs to homes with children under the age of 8.

Libby is excellent on the lead. She will chase a cat if seen on walks but no aggression shown. Libby does need some more basic training. She currently only knows sit and her foster carer is working on ‘give a paw’ at the moment. Libby is currently being socialised with dogs as she appears scared of them, this is a slow process but she is making good progress on this. Libby is a very friendly, kissy girl who loves to please. She adores attention. She is very submissive if she hears a raised voice. She is quite a nervous girl, but her confidence is growing every day. She is a joy to have around and has so much love to give.

We feel that Libby would be best as the only dog in the home, it is possible she could be placed with another calm dog, but this would involve careful introductions by an experienced owner who is prepared to put in the time and commitment to help Libby with her fear around other dogs.

Libby is currently being fostered in the Paignton, Devon area.

Tai – 6-8 year old female Staffordshire Bull Terrier Cross

Tai is an absolute sweetheart – she is a 6-8 year old spayed Staffordshire Bull Terrier Cross female who came to us from a pound in the South East of England. She was at risk of being put to sleep as she had run out of time at the pound. Tai is very well mannered and well trained.

She knows all her commands, she is very loving and affectionate and is very fond of cuddles and belly rubs! She loves to play with toys and although she is quiet and calm in the home, she doesn’t act her age when she plays. She is excellent in the car, great with children and great with cats and has lived with kittens. She is fine with other dogs, but she does show a slight tendency towards dominance in the way she plays with other dogs, but she has shown no aggression.

Tai is a wonderful and wise older lady who is looking for a loving permanent home. She will make someone a wonderful companion and friend.

Poor Tai is being overlooked and still hasn’t found her forever home. She was abandoned at the pound over Christmas. This lovely girl has so much love to give, please consider her.

“I still don’t have a home of my own. I may be brindle, and not stand out from the crowd, but I am the most loving and loyal girl you could ever meet! Please can you offer me a forever home?” Love Tai
