Alley – 12 year old female Cross-Breed
Alley was found tied up in an Alley hence her name, she is a 12 year old female Cross-Breed. She was rescued when she was a year old and joined a family with a toddler and young child. She is owned by an army officer and used to go to work with him in his office everyday. She is now left for short periods and is very accommodating.

Alley is an old-fashioned cross breed, possibly a Collie cross Staffie. She has always been around children, but now she is older she tries to keep herself away from too much pulling. However, she love to play fetch. She is in very good health and has been all her life.

Alley is a loving older lady who can’t move with her Army family and so is hoping to find a family which will be her retirement home. She is still full of life and has a dear personality. She is an “off lead” dog and meets dogs well outside enjoying her walks. She has been used to kennelling whilst her owners go on holiday and is adored by the kennel staff. She loves her food. Is neutered, vaccinated and has a lovely soft coat.

Alley would make a good first time dog owners dog. She is ‘no bother!’ and is such a pleasure to have around. She is an older lady, but has plenty of life in her still! Someone is looking for a loving companion and will appreciate her charms and friendship. She hasn’t lived with a cat, but was afraid to go too near a neighbour’s cat. She would fit into a family who would love to enjoy a walk in all weathers, but relax on return. Alley is a treasure.

Winnie is a 1 1/2 year old female Staffordshire Bull Terrier. Winnie was found stray at a young age in season. She has since settled and is receiving support in what are challenging times for her. She is very loving and will be the dog her new owners make her … but she needs love, time and patience for her to settle in a caring setting.

Winnie had 2 weeks in a home and settled immediately into a loving dog relating to young children and was welcomed as a close member. She however escaped out the front door and rushed at a dog in her plight to run, as many dogs do. The family couldn’t chance that happening again so she came back to us. Winnie is such a lovely dog and she has already come so far. She walks parallel with other dogs, settles and soon builds trust. Winnie needs to be an only dog as her dog skills are very elementary. She requires gentle introductions with reassurance coming through her lead. Innocence is the word that sums Winnie up.

So many people are coming forwards to offer Staffies their heart. Staffies are having a particularly challenging time, as being sensitive souls it isn’t easy for them. Winnie is such a dog who has been dumped and is confused. Her instincts are to trust, to love and to learn from confident hands. She is young and she will settle. She will bring her energies into focus and achieve skills. She is ready to be given that opportunity. She tries to settle in kennels, but kennels can’t offer that next step. We will support Winnie, she will win through! She is a winner she is Winnie.

Ozzie is a smooth haired short legged 2 year old male Jack Russell Terrier. Multiple homes/names we were his 6th. Mixes well with dogs, cats, people and likes company. After the RTA he has a plate in back left leg. Our vet removed his hip joint and it is now supported successfully by ligaments which serve him well. Generally OK with visitors, but may get concerned. Ideal for multi-dog/cats household.

Ozzie has a footballer feel. He wants to be pottering about, following his family around, but can be left. He isn’t too demanding, but having said that he needs a family there for his needs as he has had multiple homes and came originally to us frightened of traffic, strangers and ‘in pain’. He has lived successfully for a year in circumstances which changed soon after homing and left him as an only dog metering out the hours. We are looking for a family life where he can enjoy trips in the car, walks around the park, shadowing his family in the kitchen, in the garden or sitting at your feet under the computer table.

When in pain Ozzie’s mood can be down and we believe gentle pottering around will keep his back leg fluid and avoid stiffness and pain. Ozzie is a young dog and has a lovely spirit of adventure and he adores outings. Ozzie definitely has some ghosts from his past which surface when he is down, but in a family where there is a good balance between dog activities, ‘play and walks’ with domestication this will give him the opportunity to ‘actively watch’ and receive affection on his terms. Ozzie the footballer is more of a ‘goalie’ player, an avid follower and fan. But love sport he does.

12Mar2010 | Rescue Remedies | READ MOREMartin – 2 year old male Patterdale Terrier
Martin is a 2 year old male Patterdale Terrier. Martin is a slender whippet type Patterdale. Smooth coated and ‘lythe’. He adores to be out and does the little terrier nips if a dog gets “too close too soon”, but falls into walking alongside other dogs well. He isn’t reactive to dogs. He is a tender soul and enjoys company. He tolerates other dogs either side of his kennel. His confidence will reflect his “lead” manager. Martin is still in assessment.

Martin is quite a character and everyone is endeared to him. He has the aloofness which comes with many terriers. We can’t wait to see him settled within a family and having a good life. He needs awareness when out on walks so he is retained on an extender and so is safe. He will settle well with dogs as long as he feels in control and know ‘You are’. So we are looking for a home who can love him and watch him take up his new life with admiration of his change of occupation into treasured pet.

12Mar2010 | Rescue Remedies | READ MORECole – 1-2 year old male Patterdale Terrier
Cole is a 1-2 year old male Petterdale Terrier. Cole is a ‘medium’ sized terrier about 17″ to the withers. His coat is glossy curls with a white chest to be proud. His tail was docked very short. He is in good health. He will chase and has no road sense so needs to be retained on an extender on open reaches and short lead around roads as would be shot by a farmer if livestock incident was involved. Social and easy to walk on a lead. Secure garden and exit management a must.

King Cole is bright young soul with bright Irish eyes and a touch of the blarney (Irish Patter)! A beautiful Patterdale, but his terrier instincts are ‘exact’. In every other way Cole is an easy terrier. He has good manners, would easily live with another dog and would like to play. He has good people skills, is affectionate and could live around children. Patterdales have their followers and Cole shines out as a particularly ‘fine type’. All he needs is a responsible owner who won’t place him near cats, small furries and will manage him outside for his own safety with garden boundaries terrier proof and exit management in place.

Cole travelled over from Ireland early February, having been in rescue since October. He has a lovely energy and has done remarkably well considering the changes he has endured. He is good on the lead and he can be picked up and examined without any concerns. A truly lovely temperament. A truly lovely terrier.

12Mar2010 | Rescue Remedies | READ MORESasha – 1 year old female Staffordshire Bull Terrier Cross
Sasha is a lovely 1 year old female Staffordshire Bull Terrier Cross who is a champagne colour! She is just picking up her skills and excellent approach to people, dogs, cats and horses.

Her mum was a small white Staffie; she is a medium sized Staffie cross with a creamy beige smooth coat in robust health. She was raised in a flat and wasn’t socialised … a baby came along 4 months later … and all together now … they didn’t have time for her. She was kept crated and her current owners took her in at the New Year and she hasn’t stopped laughing since. She is having a ball with their Shih Tzu and Terrier Cross. She has learnt to play with toys and is an “off lead” social dog who never snaps back, but does play hard. She mixes with ex-race horses twice a day at the stables and with the yard cats. She once ran in the house cause a bird broke into song! What a wuss!
Sasha is a great dog and being a Staffie cross washes off her back and any prejudice or fear in people’s minds fades into laughter on meeting. Yes she is boisterous, she has had a lot of catching up to do. Tennis balls last 10 minutes, rope toys … fun for days. She could knock young children over, but ‘aware children’ she would gauge her affection to with a little learning. Her face washing service would take time to train out of her.
Sasha is the size of a small Boxer bitch; she has expressive ears and kind, kind eyes. She needs a garden and 2 walks a day and oh how she would love doggie company.
Rita – 3 year old female Whippet cross Staffordshire Bull Terrier
This is Rita and she is a 3 year old female Whippet cross Staffordshire Bull Terrier. Her Story: Rita was found stray in the middle of winter, already micro-chipped, but owner declined reclaim. Salient points: Rita is a healthy young 3 year old crossbreed. Her breeding is possibly Whippet x Staffie, her nature is gentle and she has good dog skills. She is needy so we are looking for a family where she is not left for long periods as she may howl initially in protest; needs time to feel settled.

Advert: Rita is a sensitive, graceful and charming dog. She loves to snuggle and be close. She has situation dependent separation anxiety, in other words, in her needy predicament in rescue she can cling to contact, but we feel she should settle into a family routine once assurances are made around her ongoing role, within her new family. Rita is a good all-round dog, who appears to have had a good, but maybe slightly neglectful background as she welcomes human love and knows how to trust and bonds well. She is now spayed and undergoing vaccination.

Rita walks well on a lead and mixes well with dogs outside. She would benefit from training to shore up her skills generally and her recall in particular. Rita is intelligent and responsive in all her instincts. After her initial nerves her reveals a very tender and gentle demeanour. Rita is a sweet dog who will make her new family extremely proud; they will delight as she continues to unfold and will be treasured.

11Mar2010 | Rescue Remedies | READ MORESaffy – 6 year old female Staffordshire Bull Terrier
Saffy is a 6 year old female Staffordshire Bull Terrier who is very special we have to admit. She wins your heart totally. She knows all the tricks in the book; the coy look in her eyes, siding up to you. She is 18″ to the shoulder, has a beautiful head and face with a velvety rich coloured brindle fur so soft to touch. She loves company, but can be left .. but be prepared for her doing the bends on your return. She doesn’t like the rain or snow and needs persuasion to use the garden on such days, but has very good housetraining and holds despite. Saffy will use either an open dog bed or crate; a sofa or chair to relax in. She understands house rules. We are looking for a situation where she is spoilt and inclusive in her family. Saffy can react when closed in a crate so this is not advisable for her except for travelling. She also is very excited with cats! Saffy is neutered, vaccinated and chipped.

Saffy is making a “slow but sure” recovery with her skin and fur and she has put on weight, but will drop it quickly in kennels so ideally her family would only use kennels in an emergency. She loves people and will accept dogs in her territory once introduced outside on neutral territory until she knows them. Saffy can react to ‘claiming food’, but not toys or other objects. So food needs awareness with other dogs and close management so Saffy doesn’t chose to manage the situation! She can play with humans sometimes as though they are dogs touching with her mouth, but clearly playing expressing fun and love. Only ever happens to people she loves. Saffy is a rescue favourite so only special families need apply!

Saffy is a slender frame brindle Staffie who has had many litters in her past. She mixes well with dogs outside, tends to put her paws on their back as a greeting inside her house. Very loving nature. She is nasally … a snorty Staffie but not barky! Only pet with close relationship with her owners like in the bedroom at night. Query past abuse by 10-17 year olds as very wary of them.
8Mar2010 | Rescue Remedies | READ MOREHarry – 2 year old male Boxer cross Staffordshire Bull Terrier
Harry is a Boxer 2 year old male Boxer cross Staffordshire Bull Terrier. Harry ‘the boxer manager’… he strangely accompanied another dog Bruno into our rescue! Know what I mean ‘Arry? Well Harry is a young star in the making. What has life got to offer you? A lot better than it has served up for you so far. Harry has an air of a gentleman, but tinged with a sadness. We are enjoying his company and together we will put fun and laughter on the agenda. We have begun the serious search for his family.

A remarkable dog who needs kindness and guidance. He has the looks! He has loads of personality! He is neutered, vaccinated and chipped. Harry is just a novice in some areas, but well meaning. Socialisation is the key word and training classes will soon help Harry in building his confidence. Being in a home environment will allow him to settle away from scary, noisy kennels. A beautiful dog who will capture your heart.

8Mar2010 | Rescue Remedies | READ MOREJenna – 2-3 year old female Staffordshire Bull Terrier Cross
Jenna is a Tigress – about 2-3 years old and is a Staffordshire Bull Terrier Cross. She has a soft fawn brindle coat which is improving since being in our care. Jenna has a good sense of her size and how to calibrate her possible impact when expressing her joy and gratitude for love offered, or response to enjoyable events.

She is happy to sleep where placed and adjusts within a domestic setting well. She is housetrained and respectful of possessions. However can be a an opportunist with food currently as Jenna has known real hunger. We would recommend 3 or 4 small meals a day until she settles and develops food trust. Takes food very gently and is respectful of food, no aggression shown.

Jenna has a gentle nature within a fun, sincere personality. Recently had pups and had made multiple litters in the past. Now spayed, chipped and vaccinated. Good with people and dogs. Meets dogs nicely on the lead. Needs a good sized garden which is secure more to avoid dog thief than concerns of her escaping.

Jenna will be loved to bits by a large dog family. Her heart is caring and her whole demeanour is sincere. Jenna has probably lived with at least one other dog. She seems to enjoy dogs company, but not too pushy if another dog isn’t terribly interested … that leaves her freer to meld with the people in her life! Jenna in now in good health and ready for “the good life” she anticipated as a puppy and dreamed of as a young adult.
