Max - 2 year old male Labrador

Max is a 2 year old Labrador, who is looking for a new home because his owners decided they no longer wanted him. Sadly Max was physically abused in his previous home and came to us extremely scared, unhappy and terrified of being hit. He has spent the last few months in a foster home and has come on leaps and bounds.

Although now a very happy dog with a tail that never stops wagging, he is still a little unsure when meeting new people for the first time and will cower away if he feels threatened. Providing strangers speak softly to him he will approach slowly whilst gently wagging his tail. A very submissive dog who wants to do no wrong. Shouting and raised hands frighten him, if really scared he will curl himself up into a tight ball. A gentle, sweet natured and affectionate dog who has a heart of gold.

Max is toilet-trained, well-behaved, can be left alone for a few hours without problems, travels well in the car, walks well on his lead and is very well-behaved off lead. He gets along well with other dogs and although he is good with children, we would prefer not to home him with children under 6 years as he needs a calm and quiet household. He loves being softly spoken to, receiving tummy tickles and snuggling up next to you for cuddles.

He also likes to carry toys around in his mouth, and your slippers if you’ll let him. Loveable and affectionate he will make some one a great companion. Max would benefit from living with a confident and well-behaved adult dog. He is looking for a country home with a family who have plenty of time on their hands to shower him with love and affection.

He will require a minimum of one to two hours of off lead exercise everyday. His new owners will be experienced with dogs and will have the patience and understanding to help him settle, and continue working on building his confidence.
