Chalkie – 1 year old male Cocker Spaniel

Chalkie is a Cocker Spaniel male of 1 year. Chalkie is a lovely dog who is not for the faint hearted. In typical puppy style he has lots of spaniel energy . A smashing dog who loves other dogs and people. He has definitely been a much loved companion in the past as he knows sit and will run after his ball & stick. His recall command is great as long as there are no other distractions ! Chalkie loves toys and will fetch a ball all day long, he would suit a working home or a very active home. This boy is a real sweetheart and will not be waiting long for a new home. Chalkie will need a new home without childern / No cats/ok with other dogs/LOTS of exercise required/I would say he is quite toilet trained as I walk him 2x a day ( let him out at lunchtime) and he has never soiled his kennel. Will pull on lead needs a harness. HIGH Energy dog. Definately needs an outdoor owner who understands the working spaniel. Chalkie has had a haircut and is feeling a whole lot better.

Lola – 3-5 year old female Ridgeback Cross

Lola is a 3 to 5 year old Ridgeback Cross female. Lola has recently come back into our care due to a change in her owners circumstances and no fault of Lola’s who’s previous owners describe her as pretty much the perfect companion. She is a fantastic girl, soft and quiet, she has spent some time with a relative of her owners where she lived with a Staffordshire bull terrier male and a Labrador sized female, she got on well with both even checking the younger Staffordshire Bull terrier was ok.

Lola is toilet trained, not destructive and fine to be left. She just loves to lounge about on the sofa, bed or floor and sucks the tip of her blanket before she falls asleep. Lola may not be all over you on first meeting but once you play ball with her (her favourite thing) she is anybody’s friend, she has never shown any aggression and loves a cuddle. In her previous home she knew the sound of the treat cupboard and would quickly respond, she knows many commands like sit, down, stay, paw and roll over, her recall is good and she is easy to train with a reward (Lola will do anything for a biscuit) she walks well on a halti.  Although Lola is a large girl she doesn’t invade space to much and happily lays out the way and is quiet. She is looking for a home with older children. Lola does enjoy her sleep but also loves her walks, she does chase rabbits and squirrels and thinks this is great fun, especially if they go down a dyke anything for water! She adores playing in the river and getting wet.
Lola is a smashing girl who sadly through no fault of her own has once again found herself in kennels looking for a loving new home, can you give her the second chance of happiness and a forever home, this girl so deserves it.

Beauty – 3-5 year old female German Shepherd Dog

Beauty young German Sheperd. What a stunner this girl is, she is sure to make your heart melt, with her beautiful coat and big brown eyes. Beauty is a typical youngster, keen and bright and ready for the world. She will require a home which is committed to furthering  training and an active home which can meet her exercise requirements. Beauty is very toy orientated and her focus on toys will be a bonus for her training. She is a friendly lady and is happy to be fussed and cuddled but what she really wants is a home to call her own. UPDATE: Beauty spent a weekend in a foster home, this is what they had to say about our beautiful girl.Beauty has been an absolute joy to foster. She has oodles of personality and has clearly had a good basic training. I cannot work out why anyone would not want to keep her so I can only imagine it was financial. We collected Beauty on Saturday and after a brief walk in the woods she was into the back of the car and lying down like she’d travelled with us all of her life. When we got home she had a thorough sniff of all the nooks and crannies in the house and garden. (I had checked any possible escape routes.) She was so well behaved it was like she had come home. Everything from feeding time, asking to go out and walking was easy with Beauty, although she pulls a little on the lead.By the time evening came and we sat down to watch telly, Beauty was lying with her head resting on my feet and snoozing contentedly. She is such a loving and friendly dog. She made sure everyone was there and always checked they were ok when they returned to the room. Herding nature! At bedtime she laid by the kitchen door (I left the radio on very quietly for her) and she gave me a huge welcome (hugs and licks) in the morning to be let out. I have to confess, I was quite worried she might have investigated the furniture, books, cables or carpet with her teeth or left a gift or two in the room, but she had just slept and behaved herself perfectlyShe was so good, she didn’t even make a noise until the next day when she answered next door’s spaniel who heard the Rag & Bone man! Good bark to scare off unwanted visitors
I haven’t got room to write everything down that was endearing and indeed “beautiful” about Beauty. All I can tell you is that if I could find a way for her to be homed with a family that can give her the time, love and exercise she should have I’d be a very happy foster dad. Letting her back into the kennel at the rescue on Monday night was like having a piece of me removed! javascript:emoticon. She was fine, as Ros had given her a nice bone to focus on, but I’m still missing her. Gorgeous dog.
