Roxy – 5-6 month old female Cross-Breed
Roxy is a 3-4 month old cross-breed female who was found wandering the streets so sadly we have no history on this little puppy, she is a bubby and very confident character who seems to have endless energy. Roxy will need active outdoor loving owners to keep up with her and provide the stimulation she needs on a daily basis, Roxy will get bored easily and needs activities.

Roxy is intelligent but easily distracted, owners will need to be patient and dedicate time to her training and puppy social work, she will need all training from scratch and this includes house training. Roxy will be a rewarding challenge for the experienced dog owner, she is not suitable for the first time dog owner.
Roxy adores other dogs but is non-stop and full on, most dogs will not cope with this constant whirl-wind flying around, she is distracted by dogs and will not listen to people if there are dogs near by! Due to this we feel at this stage Roxy will be better in a home on her own without other dogs.
Once Roxy is fully house trained and settled she could be left for short periods, being a puppy it would be advisable that new owners crate train Roxy to help with this but to also provide a secure area when owners are away from the house for any period. Unfortunately Roxy cannot live with children, ideally an all adult household is needed but teenagers would be considered.
If you feel you can offer this little live wire a new home please contact the rehoming team at Old Windsor on 01784 494443, apply online or email us on bow.rehomers@dogshome.org.

Justice is a 5-6 month old male American Bulldog who was brought to Battersea by his owners as he is deaf and they felt that they could not cope with this and having young children around. Justice is a puppy, he will grow to be a large dog so will need a large home and garden.

Justice will need experienced rescue dog owners or experienced owners used to large bull breeds like Boxers or American Bulldogs, knowlegde or experience of deaf dogs would be an advantage also.
New owners will need to be patient and dedicated as although deaf dogs are rewarding they need more time and work dedicated to their training. Justice needs all basic training and social work from scratch, this may include house training but travels well in a car.
Justice is a real boisterous and comical character, with the right handling and approach he will be a rewarding and fun addition. Unfortunatley at this stage Justice cannot live with another dog or children, an all adult household is preferred, although older teenagers would be considered.
Justice is a beautiful boy and in the right home will blossom, if you feel he is the dog for you please contact the rehoming team at Old Windsor on 01784 494443, apply online or email us on bow.rehomers@dogshome.org.
8Apr2008 | Battersea Dogs and Cats Home | READ MOREKumo – 4 year old male Chow Chow
Kumo is a female Chow Chow aged approximately 4 years old who arrived at Battersea as a stray, she was micro-chipped and our lost dogs & cats department located an owner but sadly they were not in the position to have her back. The Chow was originally bred as a general purpose working dog for herding, hunting, sled pulling and guarding but they are now very much a companion and pet.

Ideally we are looking for experienced owners used to Chows, Shar-Pei or similar Spitz breeds, she is not suitable for the first time dog owner as will need a confident approach to her training and lots of grooming. Laid back character who will take time to bond with her new owner, once she has Kumo will be very loyal.
Chows can be stubborn and independent, they are often cautious of strangers and not comfortable with unknown people forcing attention on them but will be become very affectionate to those they have bonded to. Once settled Kumo could be left for short periods, she appears to be house trained and travels well in a car.
Unfortunately Kumo cannot live with children as we have no history, teenagers would be considered. Kumo could possibly live with a calm male dog, she is not overly interactive with other dogs and prefers gentle dogs. As Chows were originally bred to herd and hunt they often still have this instinct, this is true for Kumo and she cannot live with cats or other small pets.
In experienced hands Kumo will be a joy to have around, if you feel she could be the dog for you please contact the rehoming team at Old Windsor on 01784 494443, apply online or email us on bow.rehomers@dogshome.org.
8Apr2008 | Battersea Dogs and Cats Home | READ MOREMoo – 3-5 year old female Staffordshie Bull Terrier
Moo is a 3-5 year old female Staffordshie Bull Terrier who is a really lovely lady. She’s sociable, loving, affectionate and friendly. She loves nothing more than cuddles and a good fuss, except perhaps food. She loves her treats – and is carrying a few extra pounds as a result.

She is looking for new owners to help her get fit and release the slim Staffie inside her waiting to come out! Moo knows basic commands like sit and down and even has a slightly rusty ‘roll over’. She could do with a refresher course on the basics and further training with her new owner particularly with work on not trying to ask for food vocally.
Moo is good with other dogs but would prefer to be the only dog in her new home. Moo can also only live with children aged 16+ who are sensible and will want to get involved in Moo’s training. She will need a home with a garden and a park or other open land nearby, to help her to exercise and start slimming down.
Moo is a really sweet character and will be a very rewarding pet in the right home, but owners will have to be patient and prepared to work on her vocalness about food. She will need training to change this behaviour, and this won’t happen over night.
8Apr2008 | Battersea Dogs and Cats Home | READ MORECutie – 1 year old male Jack Russell Terrier
Cutie is a 1 year old male Jack Russell Terrier who came in to Battersea as a stray so we have no history on this cheeky little fella, Cutie is everything a Terrier was bred to be and has a huge character. Ideally Cutie is looking for experienced owners who have owned similar feisty Terrier types, owners must understand what they are taking home!

In Terrier understanding hands Cutie will be a fun and rewarding dog to have around but he will need all training, social work and control from day one. Although he is small and cute he is not a lapdog companion type and is very active and busy, Cutie would not be suitable for the less active owner.
Due to his age and unknown history Cutie cannot be left alone for long periods, he may also need house training so ideally needs owners around the majority of the day. Like most Terriers Cutie loves being out and about, he needs plenty of mental and physical stimulation to keep him happy, outdoor loving owners needed.
Cutie is social with other dogs but can be a bit cocky at times, he could possibly live with an active female role model who can cope with a cheeky youngster. Unfortunately Cutie cannot live with children, we have no history and he needs consistency from day one, teenagers would be considered.
If you feel you could offer this cheeky chappie a new home please contact the rehoming team at Old Windsor on 01784 494443, apply online or email us on bow.rehomers@dogshome.org.
8Apr2008 | Battersea Dogs and Cats Home | READ MOREHolly – 12 year old female Labrador
Holly is a 12 year old female Labrador, this is Holly’s second visit to us through no fault of her own, she is now looking for a new home to spend the rest of her days. Holly was returned to Battersea as her owners working hours had changed meaning Holly was being left for longer periods, her owner felt that she could no longer offer the care and time Holly needed.

Holly still enjoys her walks but ideally needs shorter regular walks, she will also need a garden so she can potter about. Holly already knows many commands, was previously house-trained and travels well in a car, in her previous home she could be left alone for short periods with no problems.
Holly will leave Battersea with 6 weeks free insurance cover, if new owners continue with this policy she will be covered by the same companny for the rest of her life. Unfortunately Holly has had a few medical problems in the past and any new owner will need to speak to one of our veterinary surgeons prior to taking Holly home.
Holly is looking for a quiet home without other dogs or children, teenagers would be considered but Holly at her time of life she needs peace and quiet so may not make a playful and active fun family addition. Holly is a lovely older girl who can be a bit stubborn a times but once settled she will be a loving companion.
If you feel you can offer this sweet older lady a new home to spend her golden years please contact the rehoming team at Old Windsor on 01784 494443, apply online or email us on bow.rehomers@dogshome.org.
8Apr2008 | Battersea Dogs and Cats Home | READ MOREBruce – 10 month old male Staffordshire Bull Terrier Cross
Bruce is a 10 month old male Staffordshire Bull Terrier cross who has a bit of an unknown past, the people that brought him in only had him for a month and could no longer offer him the care he needed, prior to this we do not know much. Bruce is a fantastic puppy who will make you laugh, he has such a cheeky and fun character.

Ideally Bruce is looking for experienced dog owners, knowledge of Staffordshire Bull Terriers would be an advantage but not essential. Any new owner must be prepared for an active and intelligent juvenile needing further training and plenty of stimulation.
In his previous home Bruce was house-trained and travelled well in a car. Like most bull breed Bruce loves being around people and can be anxious when left on his own, he may benefit from crate training and will need owners around the majority of the time.
Bruce is a social youngster but lacks manners in most situations, this includes when mixing with other dogs. He could possibly live with a mature female adult of non-bull breed type that can cope with such a boisterous dog.
Bruce will be a fun addition but he cannot live with children, teenagers would be considered that can help with training and be consistent with his handling etc. Would need to be tested with cats, not had any contact in the past.
If you feel you can offer this bubbly pup a new home please contact the rehoming team at Old Windsor on 01784 494443 or apply online.
8Apr2008 | Battersea Dogs and Cats Home | READ MORETrixie – 2 year old female Cross-Breed
Trixie is a medium sized cross-breed female aged approximately 2 years old. She is a fairly even mix of black and tan colouring. She is already neutered and will be chipped before leaving the Home. She is a very distinctive looking dog whose breeding, we believe, includes a splash of Dachshund and a dollop of Whippet.

She arrived in to Battersea Dogs and Cats Home as a stray in March 2007. She has had a long stay with us as she is in need of quite a specific home but we could not have foreseen that this highly active, highly intelligent dog would stay in quite so long.
The Behaviour Staff, Kennel Hands and Volunteers who have worked with Trixie have described her as smart, cheeky, aloof, affectionate, giddy and single-minded. This variety of impressions highlights how quirky and unique Trixie is, but also shows that her relationships with people will vastly differ on a measure of how much she trusts and respects you. If Trixie learns to respect you from the boundaries you set and the interaction and activities you carry out then she will form a very strong and affectionate bond with you.
Trixie has spent time with the Behaviour Unit primarily for issues around food and toy possession. She also displays issues which arise from specific breed traits such as her high chase drive. Recall as a means of controlling chase will need plenty of work as we’ve found that once off lead she will lead you on a merry dance with her evasive tactics. There is a lot to take on board with Trixie in terms of settling into her new home and training with her.
Owners need to be black and white with ground rules and boundaries. She has been described as affectionate, so will need a loving home, but too much love and not enough clear rules and mental stimulation will allow this dog to run rings around you. Owners must be willing to take on the advice of the Behaviour Unit staff who have worked with Trixie and follow her ongoing training program.
Trixie must live in a semi-rural to rural environment where there is a low dog population. She has a complex attitude to dogs. She’ll be playful and boisterous with some, wary of others and haughty and challenging with yet others. She could live in a house or a flat. The key element here is the compulsory secure garden. She is very active and will need to dash chaotically around in an enclosed space regularly! Nothing is straight-forward with Trixie, she can also jump over great heights so sufficiently tall boundaries are needed.
Due to Trixie’s requirements in terms of consistency, training and firmness she is not suitable for homes with children. She is to live in an adult-only home with between 2 and 4 family members maximum for reasons of consistency. There is a lot to take on with Trixie. But we are sure that there is someone out there who will enjoy the challenge, form a strong bond with her and love having her as part of their home. Staff have described her as feisty, cheeky with a great sense of humour. She will make a super student and a loyal companion if approached correctly from day 1.
8Apr2008 | Battersea Dogs and Cats Home | READ MOREBobby – 6-7 month old male Smooth Collie cross German Shepherd
Bobby is a 6-7 month old male Smooth Collie cross German Shepherd who was brought to Battersea as a stray, he is only a youngster but already fairly tall so will need a large home and garden to accomadate him. (Will probably be normal German Shepherd size when fully grown).

Bobby has a fantastic nature and will make you laugh everyday with his clown like antics, a sense of humour is needed and most definately not for the house proud owner! Ideally Bobby is looking for experienced owners who have owned large boisterous dogs before or similar breeds to understand his needs.
Bobby is a bit of a charmer and thinks his cute looks will get him anything he wants, new owners will need patience and a consistent approach to his training. Has been tested with cats and unfortunately cannot live with cats, he will chase and is too much! Bobby loves other dogs but can be boisterous and rough in his play at times, he can also get frustrated when on lead.
He would benefit from having a circle of doggy pals that he can go out with regularly to burn off some of his energy, Bobby could possibly live with an active older adult female that can cope with him. Due to his boisterous nature Bobby cannot live with young children as he is liable to knock people over if they are small or frail, confident teenagers would be considered that can help with the training needed.
Bobby is only a puppy and gets bored easily, he will also bond quickly to his owners so cannot be left alone for long periods. Bobby is now learning to walk well on a lead using a head-collar, he is well behaved on this and easier to control so we advise new owners continue with the use of this. Once fully grown Bobby would excell in doggy sports like flyball, agility or similar activities as he is so lively and enjoys running around.
Bobby is a great youngster with so much potential, if you feel you can offer him a home please contact the rehoming team at Brands Hatch on 01474 875106.

Beryl is a 1-2 year old female Staffordshire Bull Terrier cross who was found running around a park in London back in October and unfortunately an owner never came forward. Like most young bull terriers Beryl is boisterous and excitable, she lacks some control and manners so will need confident and experienced Staffordshire Bull Terrier owners to cope and understand her needs.

Beryl loves people and may over bond, she cannot be left alone for long periods as may become anxious or bored. Unfortunately Beryl cannot live with other dogs, cats or children, older teenagers would be considered that would not be intimidated by her boisterous behaviours and can help with the training needed.
In experienced and patient hands Beryl will be a joy to own, if you feel you could offer her a new home please contact the rehoming team on 01784 494443, apply online or email us on bow.rehomers@dogshome.org.
