Kim and Spike – 6 and 10 year old female and male Jack Russell Terrier Crosses
Meet 10 year old Kim (pictured left) and 6 year old Spike (pictured right) are a lovely wee couple of Jack Russell crosses currently in the care of the Dogs Trust in Glasgow. They are charming dogs, mother and son and have always lived together. They both have wonderful reports from the home yet unfortunately came in rescue as their owners we’re moving house and could no longer accommodate them. The most important thing Kim and Spike need is simple… each other!
They seek a loving home that can give both dogs as much love and attention as they deserve. It is important they are kept together as they would pine for each other if separated. They enjoy snuggling up together for long snoozes and getting petted and fussed over by their owners. They are both happy to rest alone in the house for a few hours whilst you out and are perfectly housetrained. Being typical Terriers Kim and Spike love to play with their toys, especially squeaky ones!
They are very quick and you’ll have to keep up with them! Being a wee bit older doesn’t affect Kim, she still loves her walks and playtime, and as for Spike he just wants to be by his mum’s side constantly. If you feel you have room in your heart and home for two wonderful dogs that want to spend many more happy years together.

Potter is a 2 1/2 year old crossbreed currently in the care of the Dogs Trust in Glasgow who is seeking a loving and understanding home. He is a lovely big dog who will need help with his further training, due to a lack of socialisation as a puppy. He still is a big pup at heart who is very fun-loving and always looking for the next best way to live life to the max!
He adores playing with toys and cuddling up to his kennel mates, and has helped many other dogs find new homes, but we hope very soon the right home will come along and it will be his well deserved turn. Our beautiful boy is very playful, active and affectionate once he knows you, although he initially can be worried by strangers at first, he’ll be shy to begin with but will be jumping up for kisses and cuddles before you know it!
He will need gentle reassurance and confident handling when he is out so he feels confident and happy in himself. In time, with work and dedication, he’ll be a wonderful, charming companion and a life long best friend.
If you have a loving home with older children where he can be the only pet to keep all the cuddles to himself, please get in touch with Dogs Trust Glasgow today.

Shane is a 12 year old Golden Retriever currently in the care of the Dogs Trust in Glasgow. He is a fine older gentleman who seeks a forever home with someone who has room in their hearts for an older dog. Don’t let his age fool you though, age is simply a number to Shane who loves bounding around on his walks and the garden where he’ll love to play with his toys and spend lazy afternoons snoozing in the sun.
He is looking for a calm, quiet, adult only home who can understand that there will be a sensitive settling in period whilst he adapts to his new environment. Shane has spent some time in kennels waiting for his perfect home as although he bonds quickly with those he lives with, he does become worried meeting new people so new owners must carefully manage this, with the full support of Dogs Trust Glasgow staff.
If you have room in your heart and home for a big pup, and could give our Shane the experienced home he seeks, please get in touch with Dogs Trust Glasgow.

Zak is a very handsome 3 year old cross breed who is curently in the care of the Dogs Trust in Glasgow, who simply seems to be overlooked in kennels. As you can see from his picture he is a happy young boy who loves life and lives it to the max! Everything Zak does is so new and exciting his carers have to keep up with him! He is very bright and intelligent and has recently started clicker training and is doing great.
The main purpose of this training is to help him better cope with the stress of living in kennels. He can find thid difficult to cope with at times, so his owners must be committed to helping him settle in at his own pace. Once he has settled into a home and gets to know his new family he will be a wonderful addition and a loving and loyal pet. He is happy around younger children and loves the company of other dogs. He enjoys playing chase with his doggy friends in our field at Dogs Trust.

Blue is a gorgeous 8 year old female Greyhound in the care of Dogs Trust Glasgow who longs to be in a loving home to snooze away her elder years. She is so affectionate and adores all the fuss and attention that people can give. Blue loves both the company of both people and dogs, and it is important that she is rehomed with another dog, especially greyhounds as she loves them so much! She is happy around younger kids and could happily be cuddled by them all day long.
The most important thing Blue needs is a stable home environment who can help build up her confidence. Unfortunately Blue’s previous owners never left her alone and therefore Blue has developed a deep worry when she is left alone. This has resulted in Blue quickly bonding with one member of the family and finding it hard to deal when not in their company. As a result of this it is important that Blue goes to a multi person household with at least one other dog so she can bond with many individuals and learn not to worry. Being typical of her breed she loves all things comfy! Blue adores cuddling up to her kennel mate on their duvet, and in the home she’ll be the first to jump on the couch with you for a cuddle! We all adore Blue, and long to see her in a home who love her just as much!
17Apr2009 | Dogs Trust Glasgow | READ MORERebel – 2 year old male Border Collie
Rebel is a charming 2 year old Border Collie dog in need of an owner who can be committed to his on going training. He is very typical of his breed and has many Collie traits and need’s help to control his excitement especially in new environments. With committed owners focused on his on-going training, given time he will be a dog that will give back the love he is shown, ten times over and will be a joy to own. He is very bright and intelligent and is always a step ahead of you. Rebel is a very clever dog and builds relationships with new people very quickly.
Once he has this bond with you, he will be engaged very quickly and his training will come along brilliantly. Rebel arrived at the Dogs trust as his owners could no longer care for him, having lived outside before his new owners will have to dedicate time to settling him into a home especially housetraining and coping being left alone. He is a very typical Collie and will focus on things and chase objects, this behaviour will have to be carefully managed and the training must focus on not encouraging this and drawing his attention onto other things. His trainers have been working hard and Rebel’s response has been fantastic, showing off what a clever boy he is! He does enjoy the company of other dogs, yet introductions to new dogs must be slow and gradual. He loves his toys and enjoys playing games with his handlers.
17Apr2009 | Dogs Trust Glasgow | READ MORERoxy – 4 year old female Dachshund Cross
Roxy is a 4 year old minature Dachshund cross currently in the care of the Dogs Trust in Glasgow. She is an adoreable wee girl looking for a loving, stable home with adults who have lots of experience of owning dogs. She may be small but she has a heart of a lion and likes to be boss. Roxy requires a quiet home environment, and although she does get on well with other dogs she would prefer a home where she is the only dog to keep all the attention and cuddles to herself!
She has a good report from the home, and would be happy to rest alone in the house whilst you are out. Understandably for any dog that finds itself in a rescue centre, she can struggle at times but loves her walks with her carers and getting a cuddle with them. She is a very affectionate dog but still enjoys her own space and Roxy’s new owners must respect this when helping her settle into a new home.

Kia is a sensitive 2 1/2 year old German Shepherd cross in the care of the Dogs Trust in Glasgow who is looking for an understanding home who can help her adapt to a new life not living in kennels. Kia has spent some time in kennels now, and can find this environment a difficult one to cope with. Being such a clever girl she requires lots of mental stimulation and loves to be kept entertained! She is still young and very fun-loving and adores playing tug-o-war games with her favourite handler Julie. A new home must be committed to helping Kia settle in have to be patient and understanding with her.
Kia has such a beautiful and affectionate nature. The biggest challenge Kia faces is her lack of confidence in new situations with introductions to strangers and dogs. Due to a lack of socialisation at a young age, Kia is unsure how to act when faced with new and challenging environments and can at times react with over the top behaviour. Her new home must be fully aware why she worries, and with the full support of her carers help her gradually, with time and patience, work through this. She can be unsure of other dogs at first but she will relax when the other dog is calm and she has got to know them. Kia loves playing with her toys, however play time can be restricted as she suffers from hip dysplasia, but her new home must understand she still has a very active mind and will need stimulated. Dogs Trust will cover any veterinary expenses occurred in relation to Kia’s hip problem. If you would like to talk to someone about giving our fantastic, loving Kia a home please call Dogs Trust Glasgow on 0141 773 5130.

He is a sensitive soul who can let life get him down at times, but as soon as he sees his favourite carers and is playing his games he forgets about any worries he has! Spike is toy daft, squeaky ones, tug toys, footballs, he always wants to play!
Spike is a clever boy who always responds well to the training his carers do with him. He knows many words and is always eager to please. Like any dog that has spent considerable time in kennels, the most important thing for Spike’s new home to work hard on is how he is adapting to the home environment. The settling in time for Spike may be quite a slow and gradual process so new owners must be patient and understanding with him and work hard, yet give him the space he’ll need to settle in. Staffordshire Bull Terriers make wonderful companions in the home and a family that has knowledge of the breed will really help him grow in confidence and flourish.
