Molly

Molly is a 3 year old medium sized female cross-breed. She is a very sweet girl. She is a vocal young lady when in the kennel but once out and about she is a joy to walk and she loves her cuddles. Molly has started to do a bit of agility for fun and she loves it. Molly can be wary of some dogs and strangers.

dogstrust_molly.JPG

Molly was returned to Dogs Trust as she was worried by the owner’s grand-children. She does worry about some situations but has been a lovely girl while in our kennels she ideally is looking for a quieter home environment with older children, 14 years and over would suit her better as she does love to play.

She is good with some dogs but would be better as the only dog in the home and she isn’t too keen on cats. If you have time and patience to help Molly build her confidence then please give us a call.

For further details about Molly, please contact the Dogs Trust Rehoming centre, Merseyside by telephoning 0151 480 0660.

Sarah

Meet Sarah, an 8 year old female tri-coloured cross-breed. Sarah really enjoys going out for her long walks. If there is water to be found, Sarah will find it as she loves going for a quick dip. Although she will walk with other dogs she would prefer to have a home to call her own, an outside home would be considered as she loves the outdoors so much.

She can be wary of new people and will need a couple of visits for you to get to know her and build her confidence. She really loves playing fetch with her toys.  Sarah is looking for an active adult based family who have experience with other dogs and who will give her lots of space and time to unwind.

Casha and Harvey

The staff at Dogs Trust West Calder Rehoming Centre are hoping to find loving homes for their elderly dogs at the Centre who need to find warm comfortable homes to see out their golden years. Two of these dogs have become the best of friends whilst in kennels together; 14 year old Harvey and 14 year old Casha who can often be found cuddled up together.

Harvey is a cross-breed who has some sight and hearing problems. He is looking for a quiet life where he can potter around and relax. Casha is a Lowland Polish Sheepdog who is still quite sprightly considering her age. She is looking for a loving new home where she can enjoy lots of affection.

Dogs Trust West Calder Rehoming Centre Manager, Susan Tonner, comments;

“In addition to Casha and Harvey we also have another 14 year old, a 12 year old and a 10 year old. People often think that getting a new dog means getting a puppy, but at Dogs Trust, we encourage people to think about getting an older dog. They have developed their own character and personality and bring just as much joy. These dogs really should be in a home environment during their remaining years so they can while away their retirement in front of a nice fire!”

To find out more about Casha and Harvey at the dogs at Dogs Trust West Calder please call the Rehoming Centre directly on 01506 873459.

Shane

Shane is a 10 year old German Shepherd dog who arrived at Dogs Trust Glasgow Rehoming Centre after his owner sadly died.

After being at the Centre for less than 24 hours the staff sensed there was something wrong. The Dogs Trusts’ Vet carried out an emergency X-ray and exploratory surgery and diagnosed severe digestive problems that were life threatening.

Fortunately Shane is a real fighter and after his surgery he made an excellent recovery, due to the love and care provided by the staff at Dogs Trust.  Even at his age it was felt that he deserved to be given a chance and to live out the rest of his years in quality and dignity. Shane is now fit and healthy and Dogs Trust are immensely proud that they went the extra mile.

Sandra Downie, Dogs Trust Glasgow Rehoming Centre Manager, said: “Shane is a stunning dog who really needs a quiet and relaxing retirement home. He has been through a lot and he’s proved to be a bit of a star at the Centre; he has such a wonderful temperament and throughout his journey he’s always had a hug for everyone. We just hope that we can find him new owners that can see how fantastic this four-legged-friend really is.”

If you are interested in offering a home to Shane please contact the Dogs Trust Glasgow Rehoming Centre on 0141 773 5130.

Tia

Tia is a gorgeous six week old black and tan Collie cross-breed puppy who is blind. Tia came to Dogs Trust after her previous owners realised she was blind and they didn’t know how to look after her.

Susan Tonner, Dogs Trust West Calder Rehoming Centre Manager, said:

“Tia is an adorable puppy but she is blind and new owners need to be aware of how to look after a blind dog. She would benefit from being in a home with another dog, one that is calm and gentle and who can ‘teach’ her how to be a dog and lead her around. Ideally she will also need a home to be child-free and have a routine so that she can learn where things are and become acquainted with her surroundings.”

For further information regarding Tia, please contact Dogs Trust West Calder directly on 01506 873459.

Weasel

The Dogs Trust, Bridgend have an extra special canine guest in their rehoming centre at the moment: 10 week old Weasel is a Terrier was very unusually, was born with no ears.

The beautiful Terrier arrived at Dogs Trust having been handed in to a local police station when he was a tiny pup. Weasel has undergone a series of veterinary checks since his arrival and after several tests it is believed that despite having no ear openings or outer ears, he may not be completely deaf.

Weasel is able to hear some sounds- although they are quite muffled. He will be sent to a specialist veterinary practice in Southampton on Valentines Day to determine whether or not he can have ears created to change his life forever.

This brave little pup is a really happy and playful little fellow as he is but Dogs Trust is determined to give him the quality of life that he deserves.

If you would like to find out more about Weasel or rehoming a rescue dog, please call Bridgend Rehoming Centre on 01656 725 219. To find out more about the work of Dogs Trust please visit www.dogstrust.org.uk
