Laila - 1 year old female Saluki cross Lurcher

We’ve decided to call her Laila but obviously she doesn’t respond to it yet, she a female Saluki cross Lurcher aged around 1 year old, possibly a bit younger. She’s about 23/24 inches to the shoulder and a little underweight at the moment but is eating well. She has been very good with other dogs, I think she would really benefit from a confident dog to look after her.

evgl_laila1.JPG

She loves playing with both dogs and bitches and seems happy with various sizes. Another Lurcher or long legged pal to race with is probably her preferred choice! She has been brilliant with my two cats, one of whom is very confident, the other much more shy. She has ignored them both only once giving a little growl to the confident one but I think he was sniffing at her food at the time so that’s fair enough. I’m obviously not leaving them alone together at the moment and would recommend caution to any new owner but I feel happy to say she could live with a cat.

evgl_laila2.JPG

She has not met any children properly but due to her timid nature and the fact she’s easily spooked I would recommend no children. I know plenty of kids learn to be quiet around dogs but their friends may not be! She doesn’t snap in fear or anything but then we’ve never pushed her. She either freezes and shuts down or bolts so caution recommended around doors!

She is generally good on the lead but bounces when wants to play and could be strong when she gets her confidence. An older/frail person could be pulled over. She has been totally clean in the house (we’ve given her lots of opportunities to go out thoughout the day) and has gone all through the night. She does bark at unknown noises but is otherwise quiet.

Like all Lurchers she considers sofas and beds to be her birthright but is learning “off” for when we want to squeeze on/go to bed.In short she’s a very sweet little girl with a really beautiful nature that anyone would be proud to take home. Every walk so far, someone has complimented her as she is very pretty.

She will need a quiet gentle person who is willing to give her all the time she needs to settle. she does get scared in a new situation but quickly warms to it if patient. We try to be bright and breezy and not give her a chance to worry but if she does then she needs just a minute or two to readjust then she’s fine.

Lion - 9 month old male Saluki cross Collie

Lion (was called Sandy) is a Saluki cross Collie aged approximately 9 months old when he came in but has been renamed because he has a sort of mane from his shoulder, neck and ear hair. He is about 25 inches - he prances elegantly like a Saluki. He is very enthusiastic about life and wants to please you most of all.

He had good manners, on and off the lead and travels well. He needs to be castrated but has been wormed and vaccinated. He is house-trained and eats well. Lion doesn’t get on the furniture like the other dogs, but likes a soft rug and a warm fire! He is a kind and affectionate boy, who should do well in agility, or obedience.

Puppy classes would be a good idea to finish his socialisation and teach him even better manners - he will love it! He is friends with the cat, but can try and get too friendly, at which point our rather experienced cat tells him off. While he’s fine with cats who know dogs, it may not be a good idea to put him with young cats who will run away. Other than that, a very nice dog who will be a wonderful addition to any home!

Ribble - 6 month old male Bedlington Terrier Cross

Ribble is a 6 month old male rough coated we think Bedlington Terrier cross, he stands at just 18 inches to the shoulder at the moment but still has some growing to do. Poor little Ribble was caught living wild with four siblings in a Lancashire wood after being dumped as a litter.

He likes poeple and follows you round as you do household chores, but sadly poor Ribble fears the touch of a human we feel that this young lad has never felt the pleasure of a gentle stroke or cuddle or what it is like to be kissed and loved. Ribble just wants to run away but slowly we will teach him the pleasure of being stroked and win his trust he is a bright little lad.

We hope that with a patient home that will take things slowly with him that he will soon come round he has already learnt that his foster mommy keeps doggy sweets in her pockets and that if he come to her he gets one of these lovely sweeties. We would like Ribble to go to a home with another dog who will help show him that humans can be loving and that he can trust us.

Tigg - 6 year old male Greyhound

Tigg is a Greyhound male aged approximately 6 years old. He is a very loving dog who is good with children, travels very well, can be left for short periods but may wet if left for more than 4-5 hours.

evgl_tigg2.JPG

He can sometimes pull a bit on the lead but when he has had his run will come back to you and is as good as gold. He gets on well with other dogs and sleeps most of the day.

evgl_tigg1.JPG

He is not destructive in anyway, he can get excited when it is walkie time so may not be suitable for a family with small children. I do not feel he would be cat friendly.

Mouse - 10 year old male Greyhound

This is Mouse, he is a 10 year old Greyhound male. After being rescued this lad is taking hold of life with all four paws and living life to the full. He is a very loving lad who enjoys being stroked and has the most wonderful Greyhound lean when you are giving him loves. Mouse is good with other dogs as long as they are not too small as after 10 years he still has a chase instinct which won’t make him suitable to live with small furies or cats either.

evgl_mouse1.JPG

Mouse is house-trained as long as he can go out every few hours and is clean through the night. Mouse is happy to be left as long as he has had a nice walk and a full belly of food and will lounge on the settee till you get back. Mouse has the most out going personality of any dog I have meet he seems to love every one and is not at all shy he loves my daughter and they can be often found on the settee together watching TV.

evgl_mouse2.JPG

Mouse loves to go out in the car as long as he can stick his head out the window to see where he is going you may have to invest in some window wipes as he does tend to dribble a bit. Then Mouse came in to us he had spent 4 months in kennels and was quite under weight putting weight on this lad was not a problems as if there is one thing that Mouse loves and that’s food he is slowly gaining weight and his coat is starting to get a very nice shine.

If you think that you can offer this young at heart lad a forever home then please give us a call.

Madison - 2 1/2 year old female Lurcher

Madison is a 2 1/2 year old Lurcher female (Whippet cross Bedlington Terrier).  She is small, 16 inches to the shoulder. She is an extremely affectionate and loving dog who would like to be cuddled all day, but she is timid with strangers and lacks confidence. She likes children but would probably be frightened by toddlers, she would be fine with older children.

evgl_madison1.JPG

She was given away because she was not getting along with the other Sprocker bitch in their house, but since living with us has got along fine with our large dogs, but is slightly nervous of them. When she came she didn’t appear to be house-trained, but has been clean for the last few days.

evgl_madison2.JPG

She would love a quiet home with lots of company and attention and would give lots of love in return. She really is a very sweet little dog that would bring her new home lots of pleasure and deserves a second chance.

We also have in our care the pup to this mum who is 11 weeks old and male the father was a Jack Russell so this little lad is not going to be very big but I am sure what he lacks in height he will make up in personality. Picture to follow!

Earl - 6 month old male Whippet Cross

Earl is a 6 month old male Whippet cross, he is a gorgeous boy! He is very neat and tidy - think a smart suit and well polished shoes! His coat feels like suede and shines in the sun. He is affectionate and loyal, and a good house dog who woofs at the postman.

evgl_earl3.JPG

He is full of energy and enthusiasm for life. He loves balls and raggies and tearing round the garden but is good mannered on walks and the lead. He was too bouncy for his first family who had small children but has been lovely with the older kids in his foster home.

evgl_earl1.JPG

He has been good with older dogs and visitors and was pleased to meet the cat. He may have with cats before because he was very polite. He is wormed, vaccinated and chipped, but will need castrating when old enough.

evgl_earl2.JPG

He loves to climb in your lap for a cuddle and will probably never be too big for a lap! All in all, a kind, caring and affectionate dog who will be perfect for any home!

Zippy - 13 year old male Lurcher (Whippet cross Bedlington Terrier)

This is Zippy he is a 13 year young Lurcher (Whippet cross Bedlington Terrier) he has found his way into rescue at his age due to his family emigrating this has been a very sad and upsetting decision for his family as they have had him for the last 12 years when he was found hanging from barbed wire and his legs were in a real state.

evgl_zippy.JPG

This was a very long time ago and since then he has live a very happy and content life with his family but the upsetting decision has been made that he cannot go with them this is due to the fact that Zippy doesn’t travel well in the car and so to put him through a 32 hour plane journey would be very difficult for him so here he is looking for a new home where he can live out his many remaining years.

evgl_zippy2.JPG

Although Zippy may be 13 years old he is in good heath he is a little bit deaf and blind but this doesn’t hinder him getting around and he certainly has no problems jumping up in your lap for cuddles and kisses Zippy is a very affectionate dog who is use to having people around most of the time he gets on well with other dogs and can also live with cats he has also had contact with chickens and ducks.

Zippy doesn’t much like going out in the car he doesn’t get sick but he does get very stress so wouldn’t make a good travelling companion, Zippy enjoys going out on daily walks and walks nicely on his harness. Zippy is also very well socialized with children and he sat for ages having loving of my 8 year old and followed her of the settee to get more, Zippy is only a small dog standing at about 15inches so small enough to be picked up for those extra special hugs, Zippy family is emigrating in about 4 weeks time and we would love to get him in a home before then so they can see him settled so if you think that you have room for a special little lad in your life please contact us today!
