Keira - 6-7 month old female Lurcher

Keira is a 6-7 month old female Lurcher, when she was picked up she was suffering from horrific mange she had large bold spots and her skin was red raw from itching so much she has open wounds from scratching and had lost most of her fur from her tail.

evgl_keira2.JPG

When we picked her up we were all so sadden that such a young pup should have suffered so much Keira is currently under going treatment for her mange and we are all hoping for a quick and complete recovery for this wonderful girl.

evgl_keira3.JPG

Keira deserves a second chance at happiness we will be updated you on her progress but if you would like to know more please give us a call Keira is good with other dogs but can be nervous of strangers and children, we have yet to cat test her. Keira won’t be re-homed till she has completed her treatment but are happy to take calls from any one that would like to offer her a forever home.

Angel - 5-7 year old female Lurcher

Angel is a 5-7 year old Lurcher (Saluki/Greyhound cross Whippet) female. She is smooth coated and stands around 25 inches to the shoulder, Angel was pick up as a stay so we only have to guess at the life that she has had. Angel has settled very well into her foster home the first day she seemed a bit confused by it all but by the next she had found that the settee in the window was a good place to lie when the sun came out and that a rattling tin means its dinner time, she is completed house-trained and will ask when she needs to go out.

evgl_angel.JPG

Angel is a wonderful dog to have around the house she is quite in the day when she has to be left for up to 4 hours and greets you with a waggy tail when you come home she has yet to prove herself as a thief like most Lurchers and for once I am not hiding the bin from her.

Angel is a very affectionate dog who loves to be stroked and cuddle and likes nothing better than to curl up on the settee next to you at bedtime for cuddles, she is currently living with a 8 year child who she loves very much so we would be happy to home her to older calm children.

Angel has also made great friends with my mother who is permanently in a wheelchair she has worked out very quickly that my mom cannot fuss her unless she goes to her and will now stand gladly by the side of her chair to have her ears rubbed which can go on for some time.

When I first got Angel we found her to be a little bit strong on the lead so we decided to use a harness and this has worked very well with her and she will now walk very nicely she is even learning to jog along side me on a morning Jog.

Although we do not know what Angel’s life was like before she came to us we have found her to have a very high chase drive this includes cats and also small dogs when they are running we are working with her to retrain her to reduce this behaviour but it is some thing that will need continual work, for this reason Angel will need a home without small furries and small dogs.

Angel is currently sharing her home with a mature Greyhound that she gets on very well with so we know she will live with a sensible companion but we don’t think she would like to live with a dog that would get up in her face.

Angel loves to travel in the car and she watches the world go by out of the window to see where she is going next, so if you would like to take this loving little girl on her next adventure then please give us a call!

Nelson

Nelson is a 6 month old male Whippet cross - something we are not sure what as he has unusual eye colour and a strange wirey coat that is also smooth in parts so you can all take a guess at who his parents are. Nelson came into us from The Pound after being found as a stray.

evgl_nelson.JPG

He doesn’t seem to have had very much human contact but is growing cautiously enthusiastic about pets and strokes. He is still a little unsure about people who move too fast but is growing very affectionate. He is a quiet and gentle little boy who would probably prefer a quietish house with people that will help him learn to love and trust. He is good with the other dogs and gets on with the cat.

Sam

Sam is a 6/12 month old Terrier cross Whippet male that stands at only 19 inches to the shoulder at the moment but he still has some growing to do he is a smooth coated. Sam is an energetic and enthusiastic dog with nice manners.

evgl_sam.JPG

He goes through life knowing that nice things will happen to him. He is very intelligent, and has learnt to use the catflap to let himself in and out- which may not be a good thing as he is an escapologist who will need a very secure garden! He loves people, bones, toys and cats - in that order, and will make a lovely family member anywhere.

Lola

Lola is a female Saluki cross aged approximately 1 1/2 years old who is now looking for a new home but this was her story when she first came to us: Her name is Lola, named because she is like a true showgirl and the ‘show’ had to go on despite her pain and horrific injuries (for those of you too young or too cool, Lola was a showgirl in the Barry Manilow song, Copacabana!)

evgl_lola.JPG

She arrived with terrible injuries to both hind legs, her right fore leg, scrapes all over her and melted tarmac on her body and feet. But despite the awful pain she must be in, she kept wagging her tail and smiling that lovely smile, watching you with total trust through those big brown eyes. Lola wasn’t going to let her ‘show’ end!

Lola is going to need extensive treatment on her legs - the bandages alone have to be replaced twice a day, she needs anti-biotics for infection, lots of pain relief and she could still face possibly having to have one leg amputated.

Lola future was so uncertain when she first arrived in rescue, at 18 months old this girl had been through so much but now this beautiful girl has beaten her injuries and is now completely healed (without the loss of any limbs) although she does have scaring on her legs with time we hope this will be come less noticeable but her stunning personality shines through she is a busy dog who is always on the go.

She only like to be left for short periods of time as she loves human company with Lola in your home you will never be sad she is a funny mad thing that will keep you entertain she will need at least one dog in the home that will be willing to keep up with her play demands, she is not cat friendly but good with children, she would love a garden that she can run and play in as at the moment she is not able to go of lead, she is spade and fully vaccinated, she travels well in the car and is doing well with her basic training. If you would like to have your very own show girl please give us a call!

Saffi

Saffi is a 9 month old wire-haired Patterdale Terrier cross. She is about 18 inches to the shoulder and very enthusiastic about life. She has come from a home with children who dressed her in dolls clothes and generally didn’t leave her alone.

evgl_saffi.jpg

Despite this she never complained but it has left her a bit insecure and nervous. Since she came to her foster home, she has calmed down a lot and is getting on well with both the kids and the other dogs. She hasn’t met the cat yet but it shouldn’t be a problem! A nice cheerful and affectionate puppy who should do well.

Milo

Milo is a 3 1/2 month old smooth-haired Saluki cross who is heaven on legs! EGLR had half of a litter of eight who were all rehomed within days. He and his siblings were ‘The Biscuit Litter’ - Bourbon, Custard, Cream and Ginger; he was Ginger. Saluki crosses, they were all lovely. He is only up for rehoming due to changing work commitments, and his owners thought it wouldn’t be fair to leave him in the house for hours on end.

evgl_milo.JPG

He is going to be a big dog when he grows up but has very nice manners and is nice with children and cats. His house training is almost perfect and (sometimes) he will do a sit, stay and down! He has been very loved and is a very confident little boy! His last family were very sorry to give him up but they have done a great job in bringing him up to be a well mannered, charming boy who will do anyone proud.

If anyone is interested: DONT WAIT! This is a really special little dog who would grace any household. If his foster home wasn’t full, he might not have gone anywhere!
