Nelson

Nelson is a 6 month old male Whippet cross - something we are not sure what as he has unusual eye colour and a strange wirey coat that is also smooth in parts so you can all take a guess at who his parents are. Nelson came into us from The Pound after being found as a stray.

evgl_nelson.JPG

He doesn’t seem to have had very much human contact but is growing cautiously enthusiastic about pets and strokes. He is still a little unsure about people who move too fast but is growing very affectionate. He is a quiet and gentle little boy who would probably prefer a quietish house with people that will help him learn to love and trust. He is good with the other dogs and gets on with the cat.

Sam

Sam is a 6/12 month old Terrier cross Whippet male that stands at only 19 inches to the shoulder at the moment but he still has some growing to do he is a smooth coated. Sam is an energetic and enthusiastic dog with nice manners.

evgl_sam.JPG

He goes through life knowing that nice things will happen to him. He is very intelligent, and has learnt to use the catflap to let himself in and out- which may not be a good thing as he is an escapologist who will need a very secure garden! He loves people, bones, toys and cats - in that order, and will make a lovely family member anywhere.

Lola

Lola is a female Saluki cross aged approximately 1 1/2 years old who is now looking for a new home but this was her story when she first came to us: Her name is Lola, named because she is like a true showgirl and the ‘show’ had to go on despite her pain and horrific injuries (for those of you too young or too cool, Lola was a showgirl in the Barry Manilow song, Copacabana!)

evgl_lola.JPG

She arrived with terrible injuries to both hind legs, her right fore leg, scrapes all over her and melted tarmac on her body and feet. But despite the awful pain she must be in, she kept wagging her tail and smiling that lovely smile, watching you with total trust through those big brown eyes. Lola wasn’t going to let her ‘show’ end!

Lola is going to need extensive treatment on her legs - the bandages alone have to be replaced twice a day, she needs anti-biotics for infection, lots of pain relief and she could still face possibly having to have one leg amputated.

Lola future was so uncertain when she first arrived in rescue, at 18 months old this girl had been through so much but now this beautiful girl has beaten her injuries and is now completely healed (without the loss of any limbs) although she does have scaring on her legs with time we hope this will be come less noticeable but her stunning personality shines through she is a busy dog who is always on the go.

She only like to be left for short periods of time as she loves human company with Lola in your home you will never be sad she is a funny mad thing that will keep you entertain she will need at least one dog in the home that will be willing to keep up with her play demands, she is not cat friendly but good with children, she would love a garden that she can run and play in as at the moment she is not able to go of lead, she is spade and fully vaccinated, she travels well in the car and is doing well with her basic training. If you would like to have your very own show girl please give us a call!

Saffi

Saffi is a 9 month old wire-haired Patterdale Terrier cross. She is about 18 inches to the shoulder and very enthusiastic about life. She has come from a home with children who dressed her in dolls clothes and generally didn’t leave her alone.

evgl_saffi.jpg

Despite this she never complained but it has left her a bit insecure and nervous. Since she came to her foster home, she has calmed down a lot and is getting on well with both the kids and the other dogs. She hasn’t met the cat yet but it shouldn’t be a problem! A nice cheerful and affectionate puppy who should do well.

Milo

Milo is a 3 1/2 month old smooth-haired Saluki cross who is heaven on legs! EGLR had half of a litter of eight who were all rehomed within days. He and his siblings were ‘The Biscuit Litter’ - Bourbon, Custard, Cream and Ginger; he was Ginger. Saluki crosses, they were all lovely. He is only up for rehoming due to changing work commitments, and his owners thought it wouldn’t be fair to leave him in the house for hours on end.

evgl_milo.JPG

He is going to be a big dog when he grows up but has very nice manners and is nice with children and cats. His house training is almost perfect and (sometimes) he will do a sit, stay and down! He has been very loved and is a very confident little boy! His last family were very sorry to give him up but they have done a great job in bringing him up to be a well mannered, charming boy who will do anyone proud.

If anyone is interested: DONT WAIT! This is a really special little dog who would grace any household. If his foster home wasn’t full, he might not have gone anywhere!

Molly

Molly has just arrived with us, she is a rough-coated Lurcher aged around 4 years old. She is a big girl, standing 30 inches to the shoulder, has always lived with other dogs and loves to play.

Although she is big and boisterous, she previously lived with young children and is very gentle with them. She is unlikely to be cat friendly as she loves to chase anything that moves.

Dan

Dan is a Collie, Whippet cross Lurcher who is 9-12 months old and a real sweetheart, he has only just arrived in rescue and he come to us with a very sad story, we can only start his story from just a few weeks back when he was picked up as a stray in Wales where a lovely couple brought him home hoping to keep him for the rest of his life.

evgl_dan.jpg

Sadly what ever happen to Dan before he was found has made him very afraid of some men, his new home tried their hardest to show him love and to gain his trust he adored his lady master but could not get over his fear of man, his male owner was so distress by this as all he wanted was to love him, one day Dan slipped his collar and went on the run for 2 ½ weeks eventually he was caught and returned to his owners but they made the difficult decision that it would be best if he was rehomed.

So here he is newly arrived in rescue after a bit of a stressful first day he has now settled into his all female foster home he is sharing it with 2 other dogs (both female) who he thinks are great and has already started to play with them, he also lives with a 8 year child who he loves he also meet the foster homes 4 year old niece who he was brilliant with so would definately suit a home with kids we have not cat tested him yet.

Dan will need a home who is willing to work with his fear of men but we have found it is not all men but the male in the house would need to be patient with him to win round his trust.

Dan is not yet fully house trained but is learning, he is okay to be left for short periods of time in a crate, I feel that Dan would benefit from the company of another dog that will help him with his confidence, he walks nicely on a lead but can be nervous of very heavy traffic, but greatly enjoyed a lovely walk in the woods where he meet lots of new dogs who he got on great with.

Dan travels well in the car as he is a little bit afraid of it but jumps in and lies on his cushion and there he stays for the whole journey.

Dan is a very affectionate lad who loves to be stroked and cuddled he will greet you in the morning with such big wags his whole body moves as he is so please to see you. Dan is a wonderful lad that needs a new home who is willing to show him all the good things there are in life so if you think you can offer this lad a second chance at happiness then please give us a call.

Freddie

Hi, I’m Freddie, I’m a Greyhound male. I was picked up by the police whilst on the run. I had a few minor injuries so I was taken to a place called ‘the vet’ where they patched me up and succumbed to my charms. I was thrown in ‘jail’ for a week to ’serve my time’ and was then released into the custody of EGLR.

evgl_freddie.jpg

This is much more my style - I have friends to play with and a comfy duvet and a sofa to sleep on although I seem to have found the spare bed with no blanket in it!). I have lost some weight whilst out on my own so as you can see I’m tucking into my food pretty well.

The other boy dogs here keep calling me ‘pretty boy’ and say I’m far too good looking to be male but I don’t care. It’s warm and cosy here and I’ll soon have those humans melting at my big brown eyes.

If you would like to offer Freddie a home before he wraps us around those paws of his, then please contact us today.

Mojo

Mojo is a 13 month old female Greyhound cross shepherd Lurcher she has come into rescue as her owners could no longer keep her. She has only just arrived but has settled well she gets on well with the other dogs in the house is respectful of the older dogs but loves to play with the youngsters and is fully grown and stands at about 26 inches.

evgl_mojo.JPG

She has been fully vaccinated and has been spayed she would like a home where she wont be left for long periods of time as she is still a youngster she would benefit from some training classes as she seems to be quite bright and likes to learn.

She can live with children over 8 she has meet the resident cat inside the house and that went okay, but the foster home thinks she would chase if out in the garden so maybe not a home with cats, if you think you can offer this girl a forever home, please give us a call!
