Kiyoshi – 6 month old male Akita
Introducing Kiyoshi, a young male looking for a new home and a new start. He is a very friendly and cuddly boy who loves to lean in for a fuss, in typical Akita style. As he is a youngster he is a bouncy lad so will need owners that are able to spend time training him as he matures to ensure he becomes a well balanced adult.

Kiyoshi isn’t a fan of being left on his own in the home so he will need an owner that will be prepared to work on this insecurity with him and show him that it is ok to be alone, this will be achieved with patience and training. He is partly house trained so again this will need more work in his new home. He is crate trained and knows some basic obedience commands. He is curious about other dogs so could live with a female pending successful introductions. He does not get on with the cats in his current home, so he will be requiring a home with no cats or small furries. Kiyoshi hasn’t lived with children to date but he would be considered for a home with dog aware children.

If you think you could offer this gorgeous boy a new home, please get in touch!
Kiyoshi is currently in Nottinghamshire and is 6 months old, if you are interested in him please contact Julie – 07738638091 – julie@friendsofakitas.co.uk or Nicola – 07786433545 –nicola@friendsofakitas.co.uk .

Introducing Cormick, a handsome boy looking for a new home after finding himself in the pound. He seemed very eager to please, and knows some commands already. He does pull a bit on the lead initially, but responded well to our assessor’s correction so we think this should be easy to correct with a little training. He was initially wary of our assessor, but relaxed when out of his kennel, and enjoyed playing with a toy and interacting with her. He has shown no signs of toy or food guarding.

Cormick will need an owner who is experienced with larger breeds. He has not been tested with other dogs or cats as yet. If you think you could offer this lovely chap the new start he needs, please get in touch.

Cormick is currently in Leicestershire and is 2 years old, if you are interested in him please contact Julie – 07738638091 – julie@friendsofakitas.co.uk or Nicola – 07786433545 –nicola@friendsofakitas.co.uk .
9Jan2012 | Friends of Akitas Trust UK | READ MOREDiva – 2 year old female Akita
Diva is a beautiful girl and has just arrived into our care after serving her time as a stray in the pound and sadly she wasn’t claimed. Diva is friendly and inquisitive and our aasessor found she loved to have a fuss, and is very relaxed. She has shown no signs of toy or food guarding, and walks well on the lead.

Diva was curious but non aggressive with other dogs at the pound so we feel that she would be suited to live with a male companion, however now she is in an FOA foster home this will be tested further.
Diva is currently in County Durham and is 2 years old, if you are interested in her please contact Julie – 07738638091 – julie@friendsofakitas.co.uk or Nicola – 07786433545 –nicola@friendsofakitas.co.uk .
4Jan2012 | Friends of Akitas Trust UK | READ MORENanook – 2 year old male Akita
Meet Nanook, a stunning boy who is being rehomed due to a change in his current owners working patterns. Nanook is a friendly and loyal Akita and his current owners feel that he deserves to be in a home where he isn’t left alone so much. He is a well mannered, gentle and responsive boy who was happy to demonstrate his sit, paw and lie down at assessment. He takes treats gently and has no protection issues at all around food and his toys. He enjoys a fuss and is happy to roll over on to his back for a tummy tickle.
Nanook is a confident boy and when out and about walking he is interested in everything that is happening around him, he is lead trained and walked well for our assessor with very little pulling, he is responsive when corrected. Although until recently Nanook has lived with another dog, he can be selective about his canine companions so the decision to rehome him with a female companion would be based on the success at introduction stage. Nanook has never had experience of living with children so we will not place him in a home with young children. He is not cat friendly.
Is this laid back boy the one that you are looking for? If you think so, please get in touch.
Nanook is currently in Lancashire and is 2 years old, if you are interested in him please contact Julie – 07738638091 – julie@friendsofakitas.co.uk or Nicola – 07786433545 –nicola@friendsofakitas.co.uk .
30Nov2011 | Friends of Akitas Trust UK | READ MOREKai – 6 year old female Akita
Introducing Kai, a friendly and calm boy looking for a new home after finding himself in the pound. Kai is very relaxed and was keen to have cuddles with our assessor. He enjoys playing but hasn’t shown any signs of toy or food aggression. We have been told that Kai walks well on the lead but this will be further tested in our foster home. He has been clean in his kennel while at the pound, and not destructive.
As we have no history of Kai, he will not be rehomed to families with younger children. He is friendly to other dogs so has the potential to be rehomed with a female companion. He has not been cat tested.
If you think you could offer this gorgeous boy a new home, please get in touch!
Kai is currently in Leicestershire and is 6 years old, if you are interested in him please contact Julie – 07738638091 – julie@friendsofakitas.co.uk or Nicola – 07786433545 –nicola@friendsofakitas.co.uk .
30Nov2011 | Friends of Akitas Trust UK | READ MOREMassey – 4 year old male Akita
Introducing Massey, a stunning boy looking for a new home after finding himself in the pound. Massey is a typical Akita – a little aloof but loves to have a fuss! He has shown no signs of toy or food guarding. He does know some basic commands and was keen to demonstrate them to our assessor, with this in mind he should be easy to train. Massey does pull somewhat on the lead and this will need some work from his new owners.

As Massey has come to us as a stray, we have no previous history on him so we will not rehome him to a family with young children. He has not been cat or dog tested as yet but this will be further assessed now he is safe in our foster care.

If you think you could be the one to offer this lovely boy a new home, please get in touch!
Massey is currently in Leicestershire and is 4 years old, if you are interested in him please contact Julie – 07738638091 – julie@friendsofakitas.co.uk or Nicola – 07786433545 –nicola@friendsofakitas.co.uk .
30Nov2011 | Friends of Akitas Trust UK | READ MOREKeeta – 2 year old male Akita cross Malamute
This stunning boy is Keeta. He is 2 years old and is an Akita cross Malamute. He is affectionate, and absolutely loves his human friends as this means he gets attention, fuss and cuddles. Once Keeta has had his initial excited bounce around, he walks perfectly well on the lead. Before setting off on his walk he enjoys a game of chase and a tickle, he is very playful.
Keeta can be selective towards other dogs, some he doesn’t like at all and others he ignores completely, so with this in mind he does need a home where he will be the only dog. Whilst in kennels Keeta has been fine with older children so a home with such would be considered.
Sadly Keeta has been in kennels for 6 months waiting for his chance to shine in a new home. Can you offer him the forever home that he is dreaming in time for him to share his first family Christmas? If you think so, please get in touch!
Keeta is currently in Nottinghamshire and is 2 years old, if you are interested in him please contact Julie – 07738638091 – julie@friendsofakitas.co.uk or Nicola – 07786433545 –nicola@friendsofakitas.co.uk .
23Nov2011 | Friends of Akitas Trust UK | READ MOREZeus – 4 year old male Akita
Introducing Zeus, a friendly boy looking for a new home following a change in his owner’s circumstances. This big, beautiful boy is very calm and docile, and enjoys a fuss and being groomed. He walks well on the lead, and has shown no signs of food or toy guarding, but does love to play. Zeus is housetrained and non destructive and is used to being left alone for a few hours per day.
Zeus is friendly to all dogs and he currently lives with a German Shepherd so could be rehomed with a female companion. Zeus is untested with cats. Although Zeus does not live with children, the household has many that visit and Zeus has always been good with them, with this in mind a home with dog aware children would be considered.
On meeting our assessor, he sat and gave her a paw and was rewarded with a biscuit which he took gently. She described Zeus as a lovely example of the breed and a calm and friendly lad.
Zeus’ situation is urgent, if you think you may be able to offer him a new home, please contact us as soon as possible.
Zeus is currently in County Durham and is 4 years old, if you are interested in him please contact Julie – 07738638091 – julie@friendsofakitas.co.uk or Nicola – 07786433545 – nicola@friendsofakitas.co.uk .
17Nov2011 | Friends of Akitas Trust UK | READ MOREBruce – 6 year old male Akita
Introducing Bruce, a handsome Akita cross looking for a new home due to his current owners’ health problems. Although initially wary of strangers, Bruce soon settles into having a fuss from people that he meets, and loves to play, especially when out and about. He can be left alone in the house for a few hours without being destructive, and likes to travel in the car. He pulls a little bit on the lead through excitement but we this could be easily be resolved with the use of a head collar. He loves to go for a paddle in any water that he finds!

He has not been socialised much with other dogs, so he would be better suited to a home where he would be the only dog, Bruce is not cat tested. He is good with children, but due to some minor food issues he will only be placed in a home with older children. Bruce is already neutered.
If you think you could offer this lovely boy a new home, please get in touch!

Bruce is currently in West Yorkshire and is 6 years old, if you are interested in him please contact Julie – 07738638091 – julie@friendsofakitas.co.uk or Nicola – 07786433545 –nicola@friendsofakitas.co.uk .
31Oct2011 | Friends of Akitas Trust UK | READ MOREHarley – 10 year old male Akita
Introducing Harley, a stunning older male looking for a new home following a change in his owner’s circumstances. He is a very chilled out boy, who isn’t too bothered about playing and shows no signs of food or toy aggression. Harley does have hip dysplasia which requires regular medication, but otherwise doesn’t seem to bother him much beyond a few occasional aches and stiffness. He has always lived outside and as such will need some help with his house training. Harley pulls on the lead as he is not used to regular walks, but this will be improved with training.
Harley has not been socialised with other dogs so will need to be the only dog his new home, and is not cat tested. He is used to children visiting the home and there have never been any problems so we would consider placing him in a home with older dog aware children.
If you think you could be the one to offer this lovely gent a new home in his twilight years, please get in touch.
