Eddy - 18 month old male Japanese Akita
This is Eddy, picked up as a stray in the Burton area. Assessed by our representative, Eddy is described as a lovely young boy aged approximately 18 months old, he walks well on the lead and likes to meet new people.

When walking past other dogs in kennels, Eddy seemed interested, but more in a playful manner than anything else! Eddy is clean and non destructive in his kennel. As a stray we do not have background on Eddy, as such he will not be placed in a family with young children.

George is a more mature Japanese Akita gentleman of approximately 8 years. He was found tied up outside the pound in freezing cold February but is now in boarding kennels where he has proved himself to be a lovely boy. It appears that George has been beaten in the past as he shys away from sudden movement. George is a clever boy and is very easy to train.
He is very good on a lead, is house trained and loves people. George has been placed in one home, which unfortunately did not work out, it was discovered during this time that Geore sufferes from separation anxiety, possibly due to his life so far.

George would be best suited to a home where he is the only pet, and where his owners will have the time, dedication and love to work with him. For further information and photographs, please see our forum.

Bear (ref 97) is a lovely Japanese Akita dog aged approximately 4 years old. He has no problems with his food. He is very loving, pulls a bit on the lead but with a bit of training this will be easily rectified, he knows basic commands and he will sit and take food from your hand gently.

Bear also loves to play football - as you can see in this video clip below!
He loves people and being fussed. If he is the boy for you, please contact us.

Barney is a laid back 7 year old male Japanese Akita, looking for a new home - his owners have moved away and were unable to take him. He is in a short term foster home at present, where he is winning hearts! Barney is a lovely boy, who adores people, including children.

He has lived with a female dog in the past, and could potentially live with the right girl, subject to satisfactory introductions.
2Oct2008 | Friends of Akitas Trust UK | READ MOREMheisa - 3 year old female Japanese Akita
Mheisa is a fantastic 3 year old Japanese Akita female. She is being rehomed through no fault of her own, her current owner is devastated at the prospect of giving her up but knows this is the best option for his girl.

She adores people and loves to be outdoors, she gets on fantastic with kids and enjoys to play. She currently lives with a male but we would prefer she goes to a home without any other animals. She will make a devoted and loyal companion, if you can give this girl a forever home please contact us.
2Oct2008 | Friends of Akitas Trust UK | READ MOREIke - 18 month old male Japanese Akita
Ike is a handsome 18 month old Japanese Akita boy who was picked up as a stray in the Sheffield area and assessed in the pound by our representative, who was met with wags and licks! Ike enjoyed a fuss and even consented to a bit of a hair brush!

This boy has knowledge of basic commands, and didn’t pull on the lead. He seemed happy walking past other dogs, however we would not class this as a full test with other dogs. As a stray, we don’t have any background information about Ike - as such he will not be placed with young children. Friends of Akitas has managed to get Ike into safe kennels, where he will now be further assessed.

President (ref 91) is an 18 month old male Japanese Akita. He is a friendly and handsome dog, rescued from his original owner and currently residing near Doncaster. Untested with children and cats, President seems unbothered by other dogs, and therefore could potentially live with the right female. He walks well on the lead, sits and gives paw!

Rio - 1 year old male Japanese Akita
Rio (ref 98) is a fantastic little Japanese Akita fella aged approximately 1 year old. He is good with other dogs, people and appears to be good with children, though further assessment would be required. He is currently in foster care and was at one stage living with another female, whom he got on with very well.

He is very gentle and responsive. We hope to find a permanent home for Rio soon as he deserves some TLC in a forever home. He is crate trained, house-trained and will be neutered in the next couple of days.
