Sam – 17 month old male English Springer Spaniel cross Border Collie
Beautiful Sam is a 17 month old English Springer Spaniel cross Border Collie in need of an active home where he can get the exercise, mental stimulation and love that he so craves.
Sam is a really wonderful boy but being a mix of two such active breeds it is understandable that he is full of beans and needs plenty of opportunity to use up his energy in a positive way. Sam needs a minimum of 2 hours walking per day plus agility, obedience or flyball classes would be perfect for Sam and we believe he would very much enjoy them.
Sam is great with other dogs and would really love to have another dog in his forever home so he has someone to play with and to show him the ropes. Sam is also great with children but needs to live with older children only as because he is so active, he can be a little clumsy.
This lovely boy is incredibly affectionate and loves nothing more than a cuddle on the sofa with you but it is very important that his exercise needs are met to keep him the happy boy that we all love so very much.

Sam is on foster in Derby but we home across the UK. He has been neutered, vaccinated and micro chipped.

14Feb2012 | Friends Of The Animals RCT South Wales | READ MOREMolly – 6 month old female Beagle
Molly is a 6 month old Beagle cross who has come into us as her owner could not cope with a young dog and a young child at the same time. Molly is a sweet girl who is, as to be expected, full of beans! Molly is in need of an active home that can take her to training classes, give her plenty of exercise and stimulation and really commit to her.
Molly is brilliant with children and very gentle with them but she can be quite bouncy so, as with all dogs, she must be supervised when around young children. Molly is also great with other dogs and knows her manners around them. She has met cats and though intrigued, she didn’t try to chase so she could live with confident (dog-savvy) cats.

Molly is quite strong on the lead due to her highly sensitive nose pulling her off places! This is improving in her foster home but is something that her new owners will need to work on. She has no issues with her food being touched or moved but is a bit of a greedy girl and will try to steal food. Again this is being worked on by her fosterer but will need continued work in her new home.
Molly is a very clever girl who knows her basic commands as well as “beg”!
If you think you can offer this wonderful girl the training, exercise and structure she needs for the rest of her life then please get in touch.
Molly has been vaccinated, micro chipped and spayed. She is currently on foster in Cornwall but we home across the UK.

1Feb2012 | Friends Of The Animals RCT South Wales | READ MORETeddy – 3 year old male Yorkshire Terrier Cross
Teddy is an adorable 3 year old Yorkshire Terrier cross who is looking for a loving home that is experienced with terriers and can offer him the training to help him develop and blossom as we know he can.

Poor little Teddy has had quite an unsettled life and is in dire need of stability, structure and training. Ideally he’d like to be an only pet so he can get all the attention to himself though he doesn’t mind being with other dogs if they aren’t bouncy and in his face.

Teddy loves to run about and play fetch so needs a home where he’ll get nice long regular walks (and plenty of toys!)

You’ll be pleased to know he hates being dirty so shan’t be wallowing in many muddy puddles! He is quite a possessive little man and needs an owner that is willing to learn about, understand and help train him out of, this behaviour as he has the tendency to become quite possessive over toys and people.

Teddy is a very sweet boy and once he realises you have boundaries, he is a real star. He would be fine to be left for reasonable periods of time if left with an interesting toy.
If you think you could offer Teddy the understanding, loving and committed home he needs then please get in touch and he’ll repay you tenfold with love, devotion and lots of fun! Teddy has been neutered, vaccinated and micro chipped. He is currently waiting in kennels in South Wales for a foster or forever home. We re home across the UK.

31Jan2012 | Friends Of The Animals RCT South Wales | READ MOREGeorge – 2 year old male Jack Russell Terrier
George is a very friendly 2 year old Jack Russell Terrier boy who has come into us due to a relationship break down. He is good with older children and other dogs and he is a loving little lad who knows his name, sit, down and wait. He is very playful and so gentle. He is a very fun boy and in need of an active family environment to keep him stimulated.

He travels well and walks really well on the lead. He wants to be everyone’s best friends and even when told off by other dogs – he just backs off straight away and walks the other way. He has shown no signs of food aggression and has no problem with people near his food bowl.

He will make a wonderful pet to any active loving home. Currently on foster in South Wales but we home across the UK.

31Jan2012 | Friends Of The Animals RCT South Wales | READ MOREBen – 4 year old male Labrador Cross
Ben is a very sweet 4 year old Labrador cross who has come into us after doing his seven days in the pound as he was found sheltering in an abandoned pub. Ben is looking for a loving and active home. He is a beautiful boy who is underweight but gaining it well. He has been neutered, vaccinated and micro chipped.

Ben is very affectionate and seems to be very pleased to be back in the company of humans. He is very energetic and is keen to run about and play. He does pull on the lead and will need work on this as well as time put into some of his basic training but he is a clever boy and will do well with positive reinforcement.

Ben can live with other dogs and older children. We have not yet been able to fully test him with cats or young children. Ben is currently waiting for a foster or forever home. If you can offer him either then please get in touch. He is currently in South Wales but we home across the UK.

If you feel you can offer Ben the home he deserves, please read our adoption guidelines and procedure;

31Jan2012 | Friends Of The Animals RCT South Wales | READ MORELucy and Morris – 10 year old male and female Jack Russell Terrier and Bichon Frise
Lucy is a gorgeous Daschund cross JRT and Morris is a handsome Bichon Frise. They are both 10 years old and are looking for a loving home together. They are a wonderful pair and have been handed in as their owner is no longer able to care for them. Both are very sweet and can live with dogs, cats, children and even chickens! They are fine to be left for reasonable periods of time.

Lucy is a very good girl off lead and will walk to heal but Morris is better on a long lead as he will tend to get distracted and wander off. This pair must be homed together. They are currently on foster in Stoke on Trent in Staffordshire but can be homed across the UK.

Can you offer these perfect pooches a loving home where they can still get regular gentle walks?

Please note there is no set donation for this wonderful pair.

31Jan2012 | Friends Of The Animals RCT South Wales | READ MORERolo – 20 month old female Labrador
Rolo is a absolutely beautiful 20 month old Chocolate Labrador. Rolo is a gorgeous, sweet natured girl that has had far too much change in her short life. It’s hard to believe that a sweet natured chocolate lab bitch of 20 months with no real behavioral issues can have been so unlucky as to have had 7 homes… Sadly her first owner died and she has never been settled any where since. She really has the sweetest nature and loves absolutely everyone, that said, she will alert bark when she hears noises/people outside, then lick them to death when they come in!
Rolo like lots of gun dogs can be a bit oral and likes to have something in her mouth, she did have a bit of a mouthing problem when she arrived in that she would very gently mouth arms and so on (and when I say gently I mean you can barely feel it), however given simple redirection of a toy to carry at times of excitement and her knowing what she ‘is’ supposed to do rather than what she ‘isn’t’ supposed to do – she is not mouthing in her foster home. However it is a default behavior for her and she will do it when over excited or stressed so it may well re-appear when she moves again but as long as you follow the advice that we and Rolo’s fosterer (who is a behaviourist) give you, it is not a problem at all, it is normal young gun dog behavior that just needs direction.

This girl just needs someone to understand that moves for animals are difficult and it can take even the loveliest of animals a while to settle into a new routine. Due to all of the change in her young life, Rolo is in need of a calm and stable home. Someone who is going to be kind and patient with her while she settles. She has been on foster for a couple of months now and has settled so much, but moving on to someone else she will again need time to settle as this will be another change for her. She can be built up to being left for about three/four hours without a problem but she is happiest with company and needs a home with someone around a good bit of the time.
She is very bright and responsive and loves to be doing things with her person – she has been a dream to do training with. Rolo has been doing some basic agility, just building up slowly and she is a natural at it.Her fosterer has also built up some ball drive (though a flyball environment would not be suitable for her, too much going on and too much adrenaline).

She loves play with other dogs, rough and tumble is her favorite. Although she loves her rough and tumble she has got quite good at listening to another dog that she knows about when enough is enough and is polite in her play. There are however some issues with other dogs, in terms of if a dogs she doesn’t know tells her to go away in an over the top manner then she will take it as a threat and react accordingly so care needs to be taken when meeting new dogs, i.e. just asking if the other dog is OK to be met by a friendly bouncy chocolate nut bag – as if the other dog is fine she is fab. She can take telling off just fine from dogs she knows, it really is a confidence thing.
While she is in foster with several other dogs and loves their company and I have no problems with her here, there has been a problem with one dog in one home and due to the fact that she has had so many homes we want to minimize the chance of anything going wrong so have decided to home her as an only dog. She will need some doggie pals to play with out and about though.
She is toilet trained, non destructive (though like previously said, she does know with guidance like to greet with something in her mouth and if nothing is to hand then this could be the food bowl or she has even been found trying to pick up her bed to greet me with, very cute!) All in all a lovely dog that we am desperate to find the right home for as she really is the loveliest dog just needs someone to love forever! If you have any questions at all then please get in touch.
Rolo is on foster in Swindon but we home across the UK. If you’re interested in adopting Rolo, please read our adoption guidelines and procedure;

31Jan2012 | Friends Of The Animals RCT South Wales | READ MOREDewi – 5 year old male Harrier Hound
Dewi is a stunning 5 year old Harrier Hound who came into our care after being dumped from a van on the mountains and doing his seven days in the pound. He has been with his fosterer for a little while now, waiting for the right home for him to come along.
Dewi measures 18 inches to the shoulder. A few people have thought he was a Foxhound but is quite a bit smaller in comparison – and we all know that the most wonderful things come in small packages. He can still be slightly nervous about certain things and will need some TLC, but we think he will make a great family member for that special family.
Dewi is a wonderful lad, he loves his home comforts, especially the fire and his bed. But he does also like to be out and about walking with his family. He walks well on lead and gets on well with all dogs he meets. He is currently living in a family home with two younger children, a male Beagle and a cat. We feel he would be happy to live with children over 5, other dogs and cats.
Dewi’s new family must understand that Dewi is a hound, his nose plays a big part in his life, sniffing lots of great things! Dewi’s nose sometimes will take over, especially in wooded and country areas. In these areas he is not able to come off lead and must stay on a long line or his nose would take him off sniffing. He has been allowed to go on the beach off lead, due to the very limited amount of smells that he could go off and track and he has done well. He would also be ok to come off lead in other certain areas that are secure. We are asking homes to consider this and understand you will have to make allowances for him and think about where you will be walking him as well as the fact that he will possibly have to stay on lead. He will, given the chance, jump a fence or a wall. Due to this any home offer must have a secure garden with six foot fencing.

We would like to find Dewi a home experienced with dog ownership, ideally with someone who has had experience with hounds or gun dog type breeds, but we will consider all home offers for this very special little man.
If you think you can offer Dewi the loving, understanding and active home that he needs, please get in touch.
He has been neutered, vaccinated and micro chipped. Dewi is currently on foster in South Wales but we home across the UK.

31Jan2012 | Friends Of The Animals RCT South Wales | READ MORESam – 15 month old male English Springer Spaniel
Sam is a 15 month old Springer Spaniel cross Border Collie. He is a very sweet boy, in need of a very active home where he can get lots of cuddles and lots of walks. Sam came to his current foster home a couple of months ago and he had no basic training. But in that time he has improved immensely due to consistent training and positive reinforcement – this must be continued in his new home. His lead training needs to be worked on but he is crate trained and paces around the house when he wants to go out to toilet. He has no problems with food and he loves to run around. It would be best for him to not live with cats but he is happy to live with other dogs and older children. He absolutely loves other dogs – he just wants to play when out and about, but is submissive to his housemate when at home.
Sam’s fosterer says that since first fostering Sam back in November he has come on in leaps and bounds:
“When he first came in, he didn’t know what it was to be a dog. But since then, he has learnt so much.
His manners are coming on brilliantly, he sits for food and waits with slobber dribbling till he is told he can have it. He will not jump up at visitors anymore, he does still bark at the postman but we are working on that and he is very clever so will be there in no time. He will play ball all day if you have the energy and no dogs come along to have a sniff (they’re more fun than tennis balls) and when we sit down quietly for an evening he will bring toys to you for you to throw for him. He most definitely has Collie in him!
Sam loves to sit on you for cuddles if you sit on the floor and will rest his head on your lap for a stroke when you’re sat on chairs or sofas – he doesn’t care how he gets his cuddles so long as he gets them!!
Sam has been a joy to foster and seeing him grow from a scared animal into a little man has been a privilege. Whoever is lucky enough to re-home him will get immense pleasure from having him around and seeing him grow so much further with the training they put in. He is a special boy and needs a special owner to give him the time and training he deserves.”
Sam is neutered, vaccinated and micro-chipped. He is currently on foster in South Wales but we re home across the UK.
