Jeanie – 4 year old female Greyhound

Hello, i’m Jeanie and i’m a 4 year old Greyhound. Well my 3 sisters have all been re-homed through Steve so I thought I would give him a go as well. I am a very happy girl who has finished from racing a while ago. When I am out and about, I do keep my eye’s open for all my small furry friends. Great to see them running across the fields, I would love to join them but I am not allowed. Some training is needed to help me adjust to a proper home life.

Update from her foster family:

Jeanie is quite a quiet girl who loves being with people. She has gone from a shy girl to a cheeky little monkey. I have fostered 2 of Jeanies sisters, Tara and Tasha and feel that Jeanie would also settle in a home quickly. She is the only female out of her litter to do a little racing so she is a little more keen than her siblings.

Not a greedy dog, choosing which treat to take. Yorkshire puddings are a good treat to take to her bed to eat. Playtime came a little slower than the rest but now she has started to get the hang of it, trying to hide her toys in her kennel and hoping no one will find them.

Jeanie is not keen on fireworks so we bring her into the house until they are over. Small yappy dogs are a no no for Jeanie and she does get a little vocal and bouncy especially if they are off lead and running around while she is out on her walk. She would be best living with older children only.

All in all she is a great girl who’s personality has just started to shine through. She would make someone a very loyal and loving addition to a family.

Minnie – 7 year old female Greyhound

Hello, i’m Minnie and i’m a 7 year old Greyhound. I came into rescue due to my owner selling the allotment where I used to live with Annie and Sadie.

I am a level headed quiet girl who is just after a easy life. A nice comfy sofa or bed would be great and maybe a nice male companion. In my past I have raced but I have put that all behind me now and looking to the future and soft sofas. I am in great condition thanks to Steve and I have also had my teeth checked when I got spayed.

Lady – 6 year old female Greyhound

Hello, i’m Lady and i’m a 6 year old Greyhound. I am a sweet older girl who lived in a shed on an allotment. With the threat of my home being burnt down, Steve came to the rescue. My companion, Lottie the pup, has been re-homed for a few weeks now, hope it’s my turn soon.

Kish – 3 year old female Greyhound

Hello I’m a Greyhound called Kish and i’m 3 years old. Well what can I say….I didn’t like my last owners place so went out to look for a new one!  A very nice couple picked me up off the North East streets and asked Steve to take me in.  So here I am.  Quite a cheeky happy girl who’s tail never stops wagging.

I have met other dogs and seem to be ok with them but my favourite thing is looking for all the bunnies when I go out for a walk with my friends.  I do get corrected when I pull on the lead but I can just taste…I mean smell all those lovely furry things.

Update from her foster family:-

I have never met such a happy girl in all my years of working with dogs. Kish is always happy to see you from morning till night and is even happier when you take her some treats. She is a dog who loves her food and does get excited when she can smell doggy treats in your pocket.

Christmas was fantastic and she loved her soft bone squeaky toy, although she did leave it a bit soggy. She only left it for extra treats that I had in my pocket.

Kish can jump and she jumps even higher when she hears fireworks. Over the bonfire night period, both her and Jeanie do come into the house with the rest of my pack They both settled in very quickly.

Out walking Kish is always on the alert scanning the horizon, just hoping to get a glimpse of a bunny or even better a hare… She is a very strong girl when out walking and she loves being out and about. Other larger dogs that she has met, she has been OK with.

Kish is not a dog to be let off the lead in a public place as I am sure she would just get too distracted and not come back. She gets 3 lead walks a day and she is quite happy to let off steam in her kennel or in the garden.

Kish would make a excellent family pet as her temperament is great. Older teenage children are better as she can be a little clumsy.

Maggie – 4 year old female Greyhound

Hello, i’m Maggie and i’m a 4 year old Greyhound. I am one of the lucky ones….first I found a place at Steve’s rescue and then a foster place came up, of course I jumped at the chance of relaxing in a comfy home. Quite a fast dog on the race track but even faster now claiming my place on the sofa.

Update from her foster family:-

Maggie was stressed for the first few days when she first came into our home but that is understandable considering she has always lived in kennels.  It has took slightly longer than the other foster dogs to settle in but just watching her day by day, little things are changing in her making her into a fantastic girl.

Tail wagging as she enjoys being out and about with her new companion Murphy, investigating new places and new smells.  Maggie still has her kennel coat but she has starting to shed a little, but don’t let that put you off. Fully house trained from day 1 and she also gets along with some of the small dogs that she has met.

Just slightly nervous around new things but it is still early days.  All in all she is turning out to be a great girl who would settle happily into a permanent home.

Abbey – 3 year old female Greyhound

Hi I am Abbey and i’m a 3 year old Greyhound and i’m one of the new girls in at the rescue.    I am very affectionate and always pleased to see you when you come into my kennel. My kennel buddie Brad, has now been rehomed so I have a kennel all to myself.

I am hoping for a new home I have enough confidence to settle in.  I am a happy-go-lucky girl who is absolutely delightful in human company.  Other dogs need to be on the larger size as I can be bouncy.

Annie – 10 year old female Greyhound

Hello, I’m 10 year old Annie, a lovely Greyhound and i think it’s funny how things turn out!

I came into rescue with 2 other hounds called Mini and Sadie (who now has been re-homed).  After spending months on a allotment, my owner decided to sell up so all 3 of us came into Steve’s rescue.  Since I am older than your typical retired racing Greyhound, I am quite calm and just looking for a easy life.

Sofas at the ready…

Opal – 7 year old female Greyhound

Hello, I’m Opal and i’m a 7 year old Greyhound from Ireland. The rescue decided to change my name as I have turned out to be a gem of a dog, hence the opal name.

A quiet girl who just needs a fresh start in a nice home. After such a bad start in life, I deserve only the very best. Frankie who the rescue rehomed, came from the same shed as I did and he is doing great. I do hope a home comes up soon.
