Pepper – 4 year old female Greyhound
Hello, my name is Pepper and I’m a 4 year old Greyhound from Ireland. Well I was a stray and found my way to Steve’s kennel…one lucky girl. I can be a little lively and I love chasing some of the other Greyhounds in the garden so rules have got to be in place when I get re-homed.
My coat is black with small white blobs scattered all over my body, looks like I have been standing in the snow.

Hello, my name is Ella the Lurcher and i’m about 1 year old. What a lucky girl I am…my life was a little rough at the beginning but now just look at me. Started to gain weight and my energy levels have gone from strength to strength. I have even started to play with some of the dogs at the kennels.
I have just gone up for rehoming as Steve feels it is the right time, I still look a little thin but weight gain will only come with time.
My new home must has someone around for some of the day as I do like company.

Sporty – 5 year old male Greyhound
Hello, I’m Sporty and i’m a 5 year old male Greyhound and I am a great looking boy and that is no lie, I come a close second to Flash!

I just wish my luck would change, a new home and a nice family for me to love, thats all I want.
Although I am a little strong on the lead when out and about, with some basic lead training I will settle down and become that perfect non pulling dog.
Children need to be slightly older.

Hello, I’m Rosco and i’m a 4 year old male Greyhound and In my short life I have had a few ups and downs..
Started off racing at Kinsley in West Yorkshire, not a long way from where I am now.
Stayed for a few months with my sister Kitty and 2 other Greyhounds in a house in the North East. Circumstances changed as owner went into hospital so we went to stay with a foster in Jedbrough.

Eventually a space was found at Steve’s kennels. A week later I am being looked after until a new home comes up, at Michelle’s place. I have met Jeanie and Kish and think they are alright. Walks are great and we do meet a lot of bunnies especially on our morning walks. They remind me of cats, horrible things.
Hopefully my next and last move will be into a permanent home. The rescue people are trying their best as I am sure I will settle in quickly.
Update from his foster family:-
I have had Rosko now for at least 3 months and he has turned from a skinny quiet lad to a stocky full of fun handsome chap.

He is such a joy to look after, I will be sorry to let him go.
Rosko has 2 passions, firstly his daily walks, he just loves them especially when he sees the rabbits in the fields. Next is his food. He is not a greedy dog but will eat anything you put down for him (my kind of dog). Night time he will always gets a handful of biscuits just before lights out and this keeps him happy.
He walks well on the lead but you need to be careful around smaller dogs especially if they are furry and yap for no reason. Normally I stand and wait until the other dog has past and then continue my walk and he is happy with this.
All in all, Rosko is a big soft lad who will settle into a home quickly.

Hello, I’m Flash a 2 year old male Greyhound, well am I a definitely a Greyhound even though I have no earmarks. The rescue people think that I am related to Alfie who got re-homed as a pup over a year ago.
Not a big lad compared to some of the other boys in the rescue but I can honestly say that no one is as good looking as me. Quiet and calm which can be rare for a young boy but believe me thats the truth.

Mac is a handsome 2 year old male Greyhound who is a little different from some of the other dogs in Steve’s kennels. I was found in the North Yorkshire area as a stray but will go up to Sunderland soon to meet new friends and hopefully find a home. No one has come forward for me so after I have been castrated, I can be rehomed through Steve’s rescue.

I am a little under weight at the moment, they think it’s because they found me wearing a muzzle and I could not eat properly, but with a little help from Steve, I am sure the pounds will just pile on.
I walk geat on the lead and get along well with the other foster greys Alfie, Boo, Kish and Jeanie. Not a greedy boy but I do like my food and treats. I take them very gently. I have been told that I am a quiet boy. I do love it when the humans fuss over me especially when they have a brush in their hands.
I am sure I would settle into a family life quickly as children are not a problem (over 5 years).

My name is Dawn and for some reason I ended up in stray kennels until Steve took me in. I am looking for a home where there are no other dogs so I can soak up all the love and attention that you give me.

Children are great as they can help me adjust to home life. Some basic training is a must as I can push the boundaries a little.
Brad – 1 year old male Lurcher
Brad is a sweet 1 year old male Lurcher and unfortunately not a lot is known about Brad’s short past. He was found in the North East with a chain around his neck, he got took to Steve’s private kennels. He gets along well with lots of other dogs in kennels especially the younger dogs and the Girlies. He is looking for a home where owners are in part of the day.

Frankie – 8 year old male Greyhound
Frankie is a lovely 8 year old male Greyhound. Well my life has been like a rollercoater! Started racing at Sunderland in November 2003, average boy with only a few 1st under my belt. Got retired June 04 and thats when everything started to go down hill. Then I was passed on to someone who did not look affter me and my friends properly.

We were kept in a shed in Sunderland until we escaped in Sept o8. A nice man found me at a petrol station and took me to Steve’s who put me right. A dental, castration and lots of lovely food. Once I put on enough weight, I was moved into a foster home with other dogs.
My new friends are 2 crazy Greyhounds and 1 crazy Whippet, all young so they do keep me on my toes.I am fully house trained and do have the run of the house during the day. I am looking for a quiet household. Part time workers are great, even better someone in most of the day so I can have some company. I am slightly nervous but can you blame me!
Frankie, as described by his fosterer:
Frankie has settled into home life great. His confidence is growing everyday and seeing him with his new friends enjoying life is fantastic.
He now joins the family when chilling out although he does like his own space and will take himself off to his bed when he wants some extra quiet time. Our household has Children, 2 young Greyhounds and 1 very small racing Whippet so it can get a little noisey.

Fully house trained now, he does have the run of the downstairs. He can climb stairs and has found the king size bed which he did jump on and just lays there. Walks are great, does not pull, well not until he see’s a hare racing across the fields or the moor hens trying to get back to the water.
Frankie is still a little nervous which is very understandable when you look at his past history. He does not like people walking right behind him but I am sure with time this will fade.
Foodwise he is not a greedy dog, taking just what he needs. Due to him having only 5 teeth, he can’t eat dog biscuits but give him cheese, ham or a pancake then he wolfs it down. Overall he is such a thrill to look after and he deserves only the very best.
