Hudson - 2 year old male Greyhound
Hudson, as you can see, is a stunningly handsome blue Greyhound male aged just 2 years old. He has a beautiful face with kind, interested eyes and he is in fact a very kind boy, who can be hugged and handled with complete safety. We are not sure why Hudson was retired from racing at such a young age, because he is of sound health.

He gets very excited when he sees any kind of van, so he is obviously longing to be off on a new adventure. Hudson is very strong, especially at times like those, so we feel that he would benefit from a firm handler with some experience of lead training.
However, we are sure that once Hudson is in a home with regular exercise and lots of new things to think about, he will forget all about racing and settle down to being a truly wonderful pet. Hudson is extremely safe with people, but would NOT be suitable to live with cats.

Greg is a lovely Lurcher male who is aged approximately 2 years old. He came to us from Ireland, having been rescued from a pound in the nick of time before he was put to sleep. Greg has an old injury on one of his shoulders which looks rather unsightly. However it doesn’t seem to cause him any pain whatsoever, and certainly does not stop him running around and enjoying himself!

Greg loves other dogs and as he is slightly nervous, he would do well in a home with another dog for company. Greg cannot go to a home with cats, but loves people and is eager to make friends with everyone he meets.

Max is our lovely madcap 100 mile-an-hour boy! Max will be 6 years old in May. He retired from racing on a flapping track 6 months ago with no injuries and has been waiting for a place in kennels ever since. When he came into rescue Max was very fat and quite stressed. He’s quite breathless when he is running (in a safe enclosed paddock) and it seems like he has had very little exercise since he retired from racing. We are slowly increasing his exercise and Max is getting fitter by the day.

Max has only ever known kennel life and has had a very limited world up until now. He takes every new experience in his stride and is making the most of his new environment and loving every minute of it! He is a confident dog who is great with people and has previously shared his kennel with a Greyhound bitch. He will need to be carefully introduced to other breeds of dog as he simply does not know what they are, having only ever met other Greyhounds his whole life. He cannot go to a home with cats.

Max had a dental last week and spent the night at home with one of our volunteers. He was the perfect gentleman with the resident dogs in the house, and was clean in the house too! Max is a very affectionate boy who is keen to be friends with everyone, and will be a superb companion dog.

Beanie is a Greyhound male aged 4 1/2 years old. He is tattooed and has come to us from the NE of England, where he was rescued from a dog pound. When he came in he was in a very poor condition, but we are happy to say he is looking much better now that he has had some TLC. Beanie isn’t a big dog and is very friendly. Who knows what his history has been, we will never be privy to that, sadly.

Frank and Amber - 2 year old and 5 year old male and female Saluki Crosses
Frank (male) and Amber (female) come as a pair, these two Lurchers are medium sized and are Saluki crosses. Frank is around 2 years old and Amber is around 5 they were found close together and we think they may well be mother and son, or related in some way. As you can see from the photo Frank has not been well cared for and has a very bad flea allergy.

(Frank, pictured above)
This has been treated with tablets and skin bathes, and he is now clear from fleas. However his coat is a bit of a mess and sadly he is not looking at his best. All this will change when he gets into his new home and benefits from some love, good food and lots of cuddles though, we know from experience. Frank relies heavily on Amber for support. Amber is a quiet little girl who is clean in kennels and loves nothing more than a cuddle from whoever is spending time with her.

(Amber, pictured above)
Frank was in a big inner city dogs home before he came to us, and probably the noise frightened him there, as we have seen no evidence of this whatsoever. He is a dear boy, and we love him to bits! Amber is such a gentle girl, and Frank adores her. They will make a fabulous pair of dogs for one lucky person.
They need a loving home with someone who is going to show them some home comforts and kindness after their poor start in life. Could these two dogs make themselves at home on your settee?

Parker is a black and white Greyhound boy, about 4-5 years old with a sore tail and a big personality! He came to us with injuries to his front legs and tail and has been in kennels for about 5 months while undergoing his medical treatment. Parker’s legs have healed really well, but his tail is proving a little more tricky as he won’t stop wagging it against the sides of the kennel!!

He now has a special plastic tube to try and keep it protected during his moments of excitement. Parker is an absolutely super dog, always ready to greet you with a big grin and that ever-wagging tail and he is now more than ready to move out of kennels and into a home. He is quite full of beans when he first comes out for his walk as he was not allowed to have any exercise following his surgery.
However, he is now learning to walk to heel and remember that there is a person attached to the other end of the lead who might like to walk a little slower than he does! He generally responds well to training and this will need to be continued in his new home to help him settle in and find a routine. Parker won’t be able to live with cats, but is generally sociable with other dogs and absolutely loves people!
If you are looking for a greyhound with tremendous enthusiasm for life and who bonds well with the people around him, Parker might just be the dog for you so please get in touch.

Dylan is a striking dark brindle boy who is about 4 years old. He has relaxed a lot since he first came to us and now he knows what a cuddle is, can’t get enough of them! He enjoys getting out and about with the volunteers and now walks well on the lead, although is quite keen so won’t be able to live with cats and care will need to be taken with small dogs in the first instance.

However, Dylan interacts well with other Greyhounds and larger dogs. He engages brilliantly with people and focuses quite intently on the person he is with to make sure he isn’t missing anything which definitely helps with training. Dylan will make a fantastic family pet and would fit in well in a home with other hounds.

Humphrey is a very handsome brindle boy, only 2 years old, who came to us recently from the dogs home. He is full of enthusiasm for everything he does and thoroughly enjoys playing with anyone whose attention he manages to grab - which does seem to be most people as he has a big grin on his face and quite a lot of energy as young dogs do!

Humphrey loves being walked and brushed and interacts very well with other Greyhounds and larger dogs. We haven’t tried him with smaller ones yet as he has only been with us a short while. Humphrey is in lovely condition, with a good coat and shiny eyes (with a little hint of mischief!) and is very much looking forward to some longer walks and playtime with a new family.

My name is Faith – I’m a Greyhound female aged approximately 4 years old and I was abandoned. I have been in kennels far too long - I am really affectionate, friendly and loving and need a family of my own. I am energetic and fun and can be mischievous and very playful but after a walk or a run in the paddock I am happy to settle down.

I would be better as an only dog to start with until I have learnt the rules of the house properly or perhaps with a nice laid back older boy Greyhound to show me the ropes because I am very clever and a quick learner. I will give you endless pleasure as I have a real twinkle in my eye.

My name is Hamish – I’m a Greyhound male and am only 2 years old and was abandoned along with my brother. I am the most stunning looking boy – a gorgeous orange brindle with golden eyes! I am very friendly and happy and love going for walks – I walk beautifully on the lead.

As I am only very young I would like quite a lot of company from humans and possibly another dog to play with. I wouldn’t like to be left for a long time just at the moment. I like to play and will make up my own games and try to encourage you to join in. I also love rolling on my back in the grass – it just feels so nice!!
