Jody – 1 year old female Collie
Jody is a lovely little Collie-type bitch. She was picked up as a stray in Ireland, and originally classified as a Collie cross German Short haired pointer. However, having now had Jody in foster for a while, she seems to be more Collie than anything else. She had been wormed and flea-treated; is fully vaccinated and spayed. She is a friendly little girl with people and dogs. She is house-trained and crate-trained. She is starting to learn do basic commands. She does not walk well on the lead as yet. She loves other dogs (maybe a bit too much), as she has been making rather a nuisance of heself in her foster home – nagging the other dogs to play, which has caused some spats ……
We don’t know if she has lived in a house before, as whilst house-trained, is very manic if loose – just too much energy, and has been known to leap from sofa to sofa in her enthusiasm. If she isn’t playing with the other dogs, she is inclined to do ‘walls-of-death’ around the furniture. But she is a real character, and very responsive.

Her foster Mum has been trying to get some better pictures of her, but it is hard when she is always on the go!
Jody is looking for a Collie-experienced home as she is a very bright girl. She is a very friendly girl, but also very ‘busy’ so will benefit from a lot of attention and training. She would excel at agility or similar. As no history of her is known, she will only be re-homed with older dog-savvy children. We do not know what she would be like with cats. We will not rehome her to full-time workers.

Jody is currently being fostered in Powys where you would be expected to travel to visit her. She will be rehomed as per the Adoption Policies of GSP Rescue (SW). A donation will be required.

If you are interested in Jody, please can you complete our on-line Adoption Interest form before contacting me:-

26Sep2011 | GSP Rescue SW | READ MOREDolly – 1 year old female German Shepherd cross Lurcher
Dolly is a lovely friendly girl. Her Mum is a German Short-haired pointer, and her Dad was a greyhound / lurcher. She is the colour of a GSP, but has more the build of a greyhound and has more coat than a GSP. She is about 25″ at the shoulder. She is vaccinated but not yet neutered (which the new owner will have to have done at a suitable time i.e. 3 months after she has a season) as per our rehoming policies. She was passed to GSP Rescue (SW) from a greyhound rescue where she had been handed in. As obviously not a greyhound, they thought she was a pure GSP and asked us to help. We agreed, and then once we had met her we realised that she is not in fact a pure GSP.

She is a lovely friendly girl – adores everyone she meets. She is currently in a foster home with 5 other GSPs and gets on fine! She has not had the best start in life, and doesn’t understand much in the way of the usual training, but is learning fast! She is house-trained; travels well in the car; and has excellent recall. We do not know her status with cats, but she does not appear to be too hunty, and has ignored some of her GSP house-mates when they have gone after deer, preferring to stay with her foster Mum. She has now learnt to play with her new friends, and thinks it is great!

Dolly is currently in a foster home near Carlisle, and is looking for a new rural home with experienced owners who understand the breed and who are willing and able to continue with her training. We think she would benefit from being homed with another dog for company and guidance. We do not rehome to full-time workers. She will be rehomed as per the Adoption Policies of GSP Rescue (SW). A donation will be required. The lovely Dolly is ready and waiting for her new home.

You would be expected to visit Dolly in her foster home (Carlisle), although arrangements could be made for an alternative meeting point in NE Lincs if that would be easier.
Please contact me if you think that Dolly could be the girl for you.

Brandy – 8 month old female German Shorthaired Pointer cross Collie
Brandy – 8 month old German Shorthaired pointer cross Collie girl. Brandy arrived over from Ireland with her two younger half-brothers Mitchell and Morgan looking for a new home. She is a very pretty girl – mainly black but with white spotty areas on his legs tummy and neck, a thin white stripe up her nose, and a white tip to her tail! She is vaccinated. Coming from Ireland she has not had much experience of the big wide world, although was living in a home and is house-trained. But he hasn’t had much training – she does walk on a lead but is a bit erratic; she will sit and lie down. She understands ‘No’, and she is very bright and learning fast. Already knows how to sit both for a treat and to wait for her food, and comes rushing to you from the garden or wherever she is at the time. She is also semi crate-trained, and sleeps quietly through the night in the kitchen.
Brandy adores people and rushes up to them for attention (currently training her not to jump up!). She is fine with other dogs and has settled in well with the foster’s own 3 dogs (which with these 3 pups made a household of 6 dogs!). We don’t know if she is experienced with children or cats, but her young brother Mitchell has been rehomed to a family with dog-savvy children and cats and he is fine with both. Brandy is looking for a rural home with an experienced dog owner who has some understanding of both the GSP and Collie breeds. They do complement each other well, and you will be getting a very intelligent; very athletic people-loving companion who will need plenty of exercise and mental stimulation. We suggest that Brandy might be better to be rehomed with another sensible dog to help her get to grips with the world. We think she would be fine to live with older dog-savvy children.
She is so athletic and bright she’d be great at obedience, fly-ball, agility or whatever you care to train her for!

N.B. We will not rehome to full-time workers. Brandy is currently being fostered in North East Lincolnshire where you would be expected to travel to visit him if interested. Brandy is being rehomed under the guidance of GSP Rescue (SW) and his adoption will be subject to their normal practices. An adoption fee will be required. If you’d like to see more about Brandy, please visit the thread about the 3 pups on the GSP Rescue (SW) rehoming forum:-

Morgan – 5 month old male German Shepherd Shorthaired Pointer cross Collie
Morgan – 5 month old German Shorthaired pointer cross Collie boy. Morgan arrived over from Ireland with his brother Mitchell and half sister Brandy looking for a new home. He is a very handsome lad – mainly black but with white spotty areas on his legs tummy and neck, a dusting of white hairs on his nose, and a snow-white tip to his tail! He is vaccinated. Coming from Ireland he has not had much experience of the big wide world, although was living in a home and is (almost) house-trained. But he hasn’t had much training – only just learning to walk on a lead; never seen traffic; only been in a car to get him here from Ireland; etc. But he is very bright and learning fast. Already knows how to sit both for a treat and to wait for his food, and comes rushing to you from the garden or wherever he is at the time. He is also crate-trained, and sleeps quietly through the night.
He is fine with other dogs and has settled in well with the foster’s own 3 dogs (which with these 3 pups made a household of 6 dogs!). We don’t know if he is experienced with children or cats, but his brother Mitchell has been rehomed to a family with dog-savvy children and cats and he is fine with both. Mitchell is looking for a rural home with an experienced dog owner who has some understanding of both the GSP and Collie breeds. They do complement each other well, and you will be getting a very intelligent; very athletic people-loving companion who will need plenty of exercise and mental stimulation. 31Jan2011 | GSP Rescue SW | READ MOREBrimmer – 1 year old male German Short Haired Pointer
Brimmer is a lovely solid black 1 year old German Short Haired pointer (although quite a small one!). He was rescued from Ireland recently as a failed working dog. When he arrived he was very wary of people and had never been into a house (having always been kenneled), and similarly hasn’t seen much of the world.
However, he has been in a foster home for 2 weeks now and has really settled, and is now looking for his new permanent home. He is vaccinated and micro-chipped and (partially) docked. He is not yet neutered and that will need doing in the not too distant future once he has settled into a new home (as per our Adoption Contract).
He is now fully house-trained; walks well on a lead; has good recall; and is great with other dogs. He is still a bit wary of strangers, but will now talk to people if approached quietly. He is learning basic commands and is now sitting to receive a treat and whilst his food is being put down for him. He travels beautifully in the car and just goes to sleep.
He is fine to be left (with other dogs) in the home or the car. He is OK with children, although hasn’t mixed too frequently with them, so older calmer children would be preferred.
He is a very bright chap, and ready to learn whatever you wish to teach him. He has almost learnt to retrieve a ball, and is bringing it back now 4 times out of 5.

As with all GSPs, he is a very active chap and will need plenty of off-lead exercise in the countryside – he wouldn’t suit an urban environment. Ideally we are looking for a home with some previous experience of the breed who want to train on a young dog. He has always lived with other dogs, so would like a companion to give him guidance, and to play with! GSPs love their people, so would not suit a home with full-time workers. We do not know how he would be with cats, so care would have to be taken.
So if you feel you can offer the lovely Brimmer a new home, please contact me.

Brimer is being rehomed via GSP Rescue (SW), and his rehoming will be subject to our normal guidelines. We will be asking for an Asoption Donation for him.
If you are interested in offering Brimmer a new home, please complete our on-line Adoption Interest form in the first instance:-

20Oct2010 | GSP Rescue SW | READ MORERocky – 13 month old male Pointer cross Labrador
Rocky is a handsome 13 month old male Pointer cross Labrador who is vaccinated and neutered. He was handed into a rescue in Ireland at just 6 months old as being a ‘failed gun-dog’, but nothing more is known about him in that respect. He has then stayed in kennels prior to coming to us 3 weeks ago.
He was quite nervous when he arrived, but that has improved a lot. He has been in the UK for 3 weeks now with our behaviorist, and has come on in leaps and bounds, but he is now ready to move to a proper home. He loves playing with the other dogs and mixes well. He is also happy to meet new people.
His fosterer has sent this update:-

Rocky is doing very well and is looking all sleek and shiny! He has much better human interaction now than when he first arrived, and when all the other dogs are away he will play ball and come 50% of the time when called. He will not come at all if the other dogs are out, not even when they come back to us. We are using a long line in the paddock and Buddy (the Labrador) walks him around, but Buddy hasn’t learnt to bring him back to us yet lol
He is getting a bit vocal when in the kennel, and we have tried to put a friend in with him but he gets a little bit playful and then told off. I am going to put a crate in his kennel with its door open to see if he will start to accept it (as currently he is proving very adept at escaping from crates
).

For the first time this week we have seen a more hunting part of him, when trying to eat his way through the wire fence in the paddock to get to something he could smell towards the woods. In the end we had to bring him in as he was very determined to try to escape. Although generally he doesn’t seem to be that hunty, and he hasn’t checked out the fence again since, so not sure what what attracting his interest quite so much the other day?!
I think he is just now getting his confidence, and whilst he is not a natural at agility!!!! (his fosterer offers agility training), he is a really nice boy who will make a nice pet for an active household.

So as you can see Rocky is doing fine, but he now needs to move on to a proper home (as his fosterer has so many dogs there, he can’t have free run of the house etc.). So we are now urgently looking ideally for a permanent home for him, or maybe a foster home, where he can continue to develop his family skills.
We don’t think he has ever lived in a house, and whilst now confident to come into Alison’s, when in there he is normally in just one room at a time. He isn’t as such house-trained, but that should happen quickly once he is established.

Ideally, we think Rocky would benefit from a quieter home with someone who has the time to spend with him so that he realises that people are in fact more fun than other dogs (which is what he thinks at the moment ). He could happily live with another dog – either a bitch or a neutered male, but not with cats. He has had limited meetings with children whilst in our care, and whilst not showing any indication of problems, we would only rehome him where there are no young children.
Rocky is currently being fostered in Hertfordshire, but can be rehomed anywhere in the UK subject to our normal Adoption procedures.
So if you feel you can give this lovely young dog the new start in a proper home that he so deserves, please can you contact me ASAP.

Spring is a lovely little brindle 1 year old female Collie cross Whippet. She is very agile and has really taken to the agility equipment. She is a complete blank canvas and knows nothing but is an amazingly quick learner. She is fine to live with other dogs.
Needs work with all basic training but if you want a dog who is quick, she’s your girl. Starting to get ball focused too. Just starting on lead, she will fly over A frame, dog walk, jumps and loves the table and tunnel. She is currently based in Hertfordshire.
Please contact Alison who is looking after the lovely Spring:- 01462 790844 or 07798810546
8Feb2010 | GSP Rescue SW | READ MORESpike – 1 year old male German Wirehaired Pointer cross Collie
Spike is a 1 year old German Wirehaired Pointer cross Collie boy who is looking for a home where he will be a big part of your lives. Great with other dogs and loves children but not good with live stock. Knows some basic commands but is a blank canvas for someone interested in dog training, agility comes to mind. We have started him on the equipment and wow can he jump! So you must have a secure garden, high fences and large enough for him to run around in. Ideally to go with another dog as he could get separation issues if left on his own. House trained, crate trained and learning recall to a whistle.
Spike was recently rehomed but unfortunately one of the children was allergic to him so he is coming back into our care. Please contact Alison on 01462 790844 / 07798810546 for further details.
20Jan2010 | GSP Rescue SW | READ MOREFinn – 2 year old male English Springer Spaniel
Fin is a young English Springer Spaniel lad that will be looking for a new home in the very near future, he is around 2 years old – younger if anything – and hasn’t seen much of life. He is only just learning to walk on a lead and starting all basic training.
He is happy in a crate and that will help with his training around the house. He is the friendliest chap and will make anyone smile with his waggly tail amd also gets on well with other dogs. He will be castrated in the following weeks and hopefully continue to put weight on.
Fin is currently living near Stevenage in Hertfordshire. Please contact Alison on 01462 790844 / 07798810546 for details.
20Jan2010 | GSP Rescue SW | READ MOREGordon – 2 year old male German Short-Haired Pointer
Gordon is a lovely small to medium sized, 2 year old German Short-Haired Pointer boy found as a stray in Ireland. He arrived in the UK on 6/11/09 and is now in foster care in Lincolnshire. We aren’t sure what his breeding is, but suspect there is some setter in him. He is predominantly black, but with lovely chestnut high-lights on the side of his face, chest, legs and tail and a bit of white on his chest.
He isn’t very big – about 20″, and is quite slightly built with a little feathering on his ears and tail. He is a friendly chap in a calm way – doesn’t jump up or anything. Walks well on the lead; is house-trained; mixes well with the fosterers’ bitches. (When mixed with a bigger number of male dogs, he did get a bit stressed, but that was on his first day).
He has nice manners and understands ‘No’ and ‘Lie down’ but doesn’t seem to know ‘sit’ – but we are working on that! He is not food possessive, and waits calmly with the other dogs to be fed.

He travels well in the car, and has been OK to be left in the home (with other dogs for company), and he was also fine left alone in the car for about 20 minutes after visiting the vet for a check-up. He was lovely at the vets, and was much admired, and enjoyed the attention of being checked over.
He is fully vaccinated, wormed and de-flead. He is not yet neutered, as the vet recommended leaving him for a few weeks until he put on some more weight (he is about 3kgs under-weight at the moment).
From first impressions, we think that Gordon would be happier in a quieter home. He is a bright chap, and learnt to use the dog flap within the first few hours, but he would benefit from some more training. He has today been taken for a walk on the beach where he met a variety of dogs without any problems, as well as plenty of people – he was particularly taken by one man, so I wonder if his previous owner was a man?
So if you feel that you could offer a new home to this friendly lad, please get in touch. Gordon is being rehomed under the normal rehoming procedures operated by the rescue.
