Chilli – 3-5 year old female Chihuahua
Chilli is a 5 year old chihuahua and is currently in foster in Plymouth. Please note Chilli will not be ready to go to a new home until the new year as she has recently nursed her puppy Bean and is recovering before she can be vaccinated. She has also had a recent urinary tract infection which is being monitored and treated with antibiotics and we would want her to be 100% healthy before she moves on. However, an interest in rehoming her can be registered now and the relevant rehoming process including homecheck can be carried out in advance.
Sweet Chilli as she should be known is a lovely little girl. She is a fab dog to have around the house, undemanding, affectionate and fun. Chilli came in to our care with a surprise for us as she was expecting a baby. She gave birth to little Bean 8 weeks ago and has been a wonderful mum. Bean has found a new home and Chilli is now beginning to think about moving on herself from her foster home. She will not be ready to go until the New Year when her vet work is complete.

We believe Chilli has lacked early socialisation and she is a nervy girl with new people. This is more apparent with new men that she meets but once she gets to know a man she will settle in his company and has been very affectionate and loving to her foster dad once he earnt her trust. She has not been socialised with young children and she finds the high pitched voices and fast movements scary. Therefore we would not rehome her with little ones. She is looking for an adult only home or with teenagers in the home who will respect her in the early days and give her space to get to know them in her own time.
Chilli has been living in foster care with other dogs and has been good with them. She has a preference for smaller dogs like herself and can be intimidated by larger dogs and hide behind people’s legs when they approach out in the park. She could be rehomed with other smaller dogs or as the only dog if she had plenty of human company.
Chilli cannot be rehomed with cats as she will chase and thinks it is a wonderful bit of sport.
Chilli will need a home with very secure fencing as she is small enough to push through gaps or under fence panels. The secure garden will need to be verified at homecheck.
Chilli is not looking to be a Paris Hilton accessory dog being carried round in a handbag all day. Having said that she is also not looking to be out running the marathon or hiking up mountains. She likes to be taken to new places for a mooch about and a sniff of the flowers and the chance to experience different sights and sounds however, her exercise demands are pretty low.
12Jan2012 | Hope Rescue Wales | READ MOREZach – 5 month male Rottweiler cross Staffordshire Bull Terrier
Zach is a 5 month old Staffordshire Bull Terrier cross Rottweiler and is currently on foster in Cardiff. Zach came in to our care following a sheltered start in life. He has not experienced the full wide world and he is a shy and nervous boy as a result. Once he gets to know someone he will warm up and be affectionate but he is shy around new people. He will be looking for a patient new home who can bring him out of his shell with love and patience. Due to his nervy nature he would not be suitable for a home with young children.

Zach is living with two other dogs as well as his sister Kia and is very good with them. He could be rehomed with canine company or as the only dog. He is living with 6 cats from the age of 6 months upwards and is very well behaved with them.
Zach is not yet fully housetrained and this is a work in progress. He has been introduced to a crate and will settle in it nicely when he has been left for short periods by his foster mum. Please note we do not rehome puppies to full time workers.
Zach is due to begin training classes with his foster mum very soon to lay the foundations for walking nicely on a lead and learning basic manners. It is recommended that his adopter attend training classes for further help and socialisation.
12Jan2012 | Hope Rescue Wales | READ MOREDella – 3-5 year old female Cross-Breed
Della is a 5 year old Leonberger cross and is currently on foster in Tregaron, Ceredigion . Della is a stunning leonberger cross, she is 5 years old and a loving and gentle dog. Della came to us as a surrender meaning we have her past history as she was signed over by her previous owner rather than coming from the pound. Della was very much loved and has found the move to her foster home stressful and difficult. It has taken her a while to settle and begin to trust her foster carers and she is rather anxious and stressed still. For this reason Della is looking for a new home with an experienced owner and would not be a suitable first time dog. Moving on again from her foster home to her forever home will be another difficult challenge for Della to overcome. However, once she settles in and learns to trust you she is a loving and loyal hound.

Della will be looking for a new home who are used to positive training practises and will train and bond with her using kindness and never force. Della does not cope well with raised voices and will not be able to tolerate any form of harsh words or handling.
Della is dog friendly and has lived in mixed packs of dogs both with her previous owner and with her current foster carer. She would be able to be rehomed with canine company or as the only dog (if she had a lot of human company). Della is a bit of a clumsy dog, she is living with small dogs in her current foster home and can tread on them and knock them out of the way accidently. This often happens around doorways and when excited so work is being done by her foster home on a wait command around doorways. When on lead she can be a little tense however off lead she is excellent with other dogs.
Della has not lived with cats before and would be best rehomed without feline friends. She has been living in foster care with ferrets and has been good after initial interest.
Della is a very loyal dog who bonds closely to people once she trusts them. Following her recent upheaval she has been having difficulty being left alone and has been stressed by it. Her foster home are able to work on this gradually and she is now able to be alone for around 30 minutes. She will not eat when alone which is a sign of increased arousal and potential anxiety when alone. She was able to be left in her previous home without worry for up to 4/5 hours and once she settles in to a new home fully this should be possible again. However, she will need a home who are able to limit time alone in the early stages and do not work full time.
Della is currently reluctant to greet visitors to her foster home and can be nervy around new people. For this reason we will not rehome her with children as we feel she would be too stressed and anxious by another move to settle in with young people. She could be rehomed with teenagers or in an adult only home. She is a very sensitive dog who feels happiest in a fairly set routine, she does settle down in a quiet environment so would prefer a home with someone who is a creature of habit and does not have lots of people calling around. In an ideal world her new owner would be able to come and visit her a number of times to help establish some sort of a bond/relationship before moving her to a new home.
12Jan2012 | Hope Rescue Wales | READ MORECassie – 1-2 year old female Staffordshire Bull Terrier Cross
Cassie is a 10 month old staffie cross and is currently on foster in Aberystwyth. Stunning dog and cat friendly staffie cross looking for an adult only home with someone home for the best part of the day. Cassie came to us from less tha adequate conditions, she was rescued by a kind member of the public from an abusive situation and then moved in to foster care with Hope. Cassie had been living outdoors in a shed and had been wearing a harness for some time. She had continued to grow and the harness did not and it had cut into the back of her legs. Cassie is a nervous dog around new people and takes a while to trust. However, once she does she is a loving and affectionate dog and will give you her undying love and affection. We would like a home without children or visiting children as she is not socialised with young people and finds them scary.

Cassie is very dog friendly, she is living in foster care with other dogs including younger pups and is very accepting and playful with them. She can be rehomed with other dogs or on her own. Cassie is also polite with dogs that she meets out on walks.
Cassie is living in foster care with 5 cats and is excellent with them.
Cassie is not a huge fan of being on her own without human company and she will not be rehomed with full time workers. Ideally she would love a new home where someone is around for the best part of the day. Her foster mum has been gradually leaving her for longer periods taking care to ensure she is comfortable with each extending amount of time alone.
Cassie is house training and has a very good level of basic training including excellent recall and walking nicely on the lead. She is not destructive in the home and will always chew on her own toys or a bone if she is bored. Cassie enjoys her walks and being out and about.
All Hope Rescue dogs are neutered (if over 6 months), vaccinated, flea treated, wormed and micro-chipped prior to adoption. If a puppy is not old enough to be neutered then this must be carried out at the owner’s expense when old enough, and the relevant form completed by the vet and returned to Hope Rescue. A homecheck will be required, and you will need to come and meet the dog with your own dogs and family. Hope Rescue rehomes throughout the UK. A Pre-Home Interest Form can be downloaded from www.hoperescue.org.uk and should be returned to dogs@hoperescue.org.uk
12Jan2012 | Hope Rescue Wales | READ MOREGwen – 2 year old female Border Collie
Gwen is a 2 year old Collie and is currently on foster in Mold, Flintshire. Gwen is a real gem of a dog. Sweet, affectionate, well socialised and intelligent. She will make a fantastic family pet and will give someone an enormous amount of pleasure.
Gwen has always lived with other dogs, in her previous home and now in her foster home and she would prefer to be rehomed with canine company. She may be able to be rehomed as a single dog with plenty of human interaction and mental stimulation. She has good doggy social skills and meets and greets poiltely out on walks. She can be vocal when around other dogs if she is on the lead.
Gwen cannot be rehomed with cats or small animals.
Gwen is well socialised and confident and friendly around people. She has previously loved with children and was very good with them, she could be rehomed with children who are used to dogs and know not to treat them roughly or like toys.
Gwen has good basic training and had begun agility training before coming in to Hope’s care. Gwen has very good recall off the lead and her foster home are working on loose lead walking as she is a bit of a puller. Gwen will need help with one issue as she is not comfortable being brushed. Her new home will need to work on this gradually using kind, positive methods to teach Gwen there is nothing to worry about and help her relax for a brush. She has been left by her foster home for a few hours at a time and was fine, she did have her canine foster brothers for company. She would prefer not to live with a full time worker however as she is a dog who loves company.
All Hope Rescue dogs are neutered, vaccinated, wormed, flea treated and microchipped prior to rehoming. A homecheck will be required, and you will need to come and meet the dog with your own dogs and family. Hope Rescue rehomes throughout the UK. 14Nov2011 | Hope Rescue Wales | READ MOREMarmite – 4 1/2 year old female Patterdale Terrier Cross
Marmite is a 4 and a half year old Patterdale Terrier cross (possibly some staffie in the mix) and is currently on foster in Penarth, Vale of Glamorgan. They say you either love Marmite or hate Marmite . Well I defy anyone to not LOVE LOVE LOVE this girl. She is everything a dog should be, loving, fun, comical, intelligent……. the works. What could you not like about that?
Marmite has settled in to her foster home very well and got to know her foster brother who is a collie. She has been good with all dogs she has met out on walks and loves a good run around and a play. Marmite can be rehomed with other dogs or as a single dog. She did show some issues with minor possessive behaviour around her foster brother at first but this has been worked on and she has stopped. Care would have to be taken if integrating her with existing dogs so that this behavour does not resurface as the dogs establish their relationship.
Marmite has lived in a home that had outdoor cats before and was Ok with them. However, her foster home has seen a potential desire to chase cats so it may be better if Marmite is rehomed to a feline free house. She would not be suitable to live with small animals such as indoor rabbits.

Marmite has been very good with everyone she has met, she is a loving and affectionate dog at home and is very well socialised and confident with new people. She has spent time with children over the age of 7 years and has been very good with them. She could be rehomed with children over the age of 8 if they are used to dogs. Marmite was rehomed by us previously and came back into our care when her previous owner had a new baby. Marmite was unsettled by the changes and was not comfortable around the baby. Care would have to be taken in future around babies and small children and she would not be a suitable choice for someone looking to start a family in the near future.
Marmite has a good level of basic training already and lovely manners in the home. She is house trained, sleeps soundly all night and walks nicely on the lead. She loves travelling in the car and hops in happily.
Marmite has excellent recall and is very good off the lead. She adores her walks and play and will be looking for an active home who will get her out and about to new places.

14Nov2011 | Hope Rescue Wales | READ MOREObi – 12 month old male Staffordshire Bull Terrier
The cold winters nights are drawing near and what better way to warm yourself up than cuddles on the settee from Obi. This is one loving, tactile and adorable dog. Do not miss out on the chance to be his new family.
Obi has settled very well in his foster home after a spell in kennels. He has shown himself to be house trained, good on the lead, good with other dogs out on walks and a confident and well socialised dog.
Obi is around 12 months old but no one has the decency to tell him this fact. He is still under the impression that he is just a pup. He can still have his mad moments and is full of mischief. He is looking for a new owner who can give him calm, consistent feedback and guidance through positive reinforcement.

Obi previously lived with another foster home who had a male dog and they did not get along. This means he will be best rehomed as a single dog. He could possibly be rehomed with a calm, sociable female. He is good with dogs he meets out on his walks. He has not been cat tested and is a complete unknown quantity in that department.
Obi’s foster carer has only had him for a couple of weeks so far and has been building any time along gradually as he settles in. He has now been left for a couple of hours and has shown no sign of being distressed or upset. That being said he would not be rehomed with a full time worker as we do not know how he would react to being left for longer periods and he is still a young lad at heart.
He is not looking for a new home where he will be ignored and side lined. Obi will bloom in a home where he is included in everything and gets lots of love and affection. Without this he will not reach his full potential (and he has a lot of potential). Obi is a 12 month old Staffordshire bull terrier and is currently on foster in Treharris, South Wales.

14Nov2011 | Hope Rescue Wales | READ MOREMax – 3-5 year old male Rottweiler
What an incredibly handsome dog Max is. He is very well socialised with other dogs and is living within a large pack in his foster home. He can be frustrated and bark if other dogs will not play with him. He could be rehomed with other dogs and is friendly and playful with dogs out on walks.
Max came to us in poor condition from the pound. He was underweight with a poor coat and bad skin. On top of this the poor boy also had very sore eyes and a very serious ear infection. This has in no way affected his temperament and he has been incredibly well behaved for the vets despite all the prodding and poking they have had to do. Max is looking better every day and will be ready to go to his new home very soon.

Max will be looking for a new owner who is around for the best part of the day and will not be rehomed to full time workers. His foster family have not had to leave him as yet so he is unassessed in the house on his own. Max is house trained and has lovely house manners. He is very intelligent and obedient and already knows the basics. I am sure he would relish further training to keep him mentally stimulated. Work will have to be done to help him overcome a dislike of wheels as he is currently scared of wheelchairs, prams etc and work on this will need to continue.
Max is a very affectionate and soppy dog at home. He can take a while to warm up to some male visitors to the house and can be a little suspicious of them and bark. Once he realises all is well he will settle down. He has been around visiting children in his foster home and could be respect him and are used to large breed dogs. Max is a handsome male rottie and is currently on foster in Caerphilly, South Wales.

14Nov2011 | Hope Rescue Wales | READ MOREBronx – 3 year old male Rhodesian Ridgeback
Bronx is a 3 year old Rhodesian Ridgeback and is currently on foster in Merthyr Tidfil. Bronx is a sensitive and loving dog. He doesn’t seem to know he has a big handsome tough guy exterior and he can lack confidence at times and be introverted. He is looking for a loving new home who will help him to socialise and allow him to blossom. It will be very rewarding for his new owners. He has settled in well to his foster home and is living nicely with his canine foster brother. When he first meets a new dog he can be nervy and will sometime hide behind his foster mum’s legs! (Little does he realise he is huge and everyone can still see him!). He has never shown any aggression and will play nicely once he has relaxed in a dogs company. This will mean introductions to any existing dogs in a household considering adopting him would need to be done carefully. He would be best suited to larger companions as he may be too much for small or frail dogs when playing.
Bronx is not comfortable being left for long periods and will not be rehomed to full time workers. He would ideally like a new home where someone is around for the best part of the day or where he can attend work with his owner. He has been left for up to two hours by his foster home and this would need to be gradually built on as a foundation. Bronx is intelligent and knows how to open doors so he will need a secure house and garden with fencing over 5 feet.
He has not been tested with cats and has not lived with cats as far as we know. He has been in foster with rabbits who he was interested in at first but he has learnt to ignore them.
Bronx has been socialised with children in his previous home and is gentle and well mannered with them. However, he does like the quiet life and has been living in an adult only foster home. We feel he would be overwhelmed to live with young children full time. Therefore we will be looking for a new home with children over the age of 10 years.
Bronx loves to travel in the car, he does prefer curling up on the back seat to being in the boot or crated. He likes to occasionally stick his nose out the window before going back to sleep.
He knows sit, paw and out. He has been working on his recall with his foster family when he is off the lead. Walking on a lead has needed a bit of work and he is now walked on a harness as his neck is wider than his head meaning he can back out of a collar if he is spooked by something. He has good manners in the house and is not food or toy possessive. He will need further training to build his confidence and socialise him with other dogs.
All Hope Rescue dogs are neutered, vaccinated, wormed, flea treated and microchipped prior to rehoming. A homecheck will be required, and you will need to come and meet the dog with your own dogs and family. Hope Rescue rehomes throughout the UK. 10Nov2011 | Hope Rescue Wales | READ MORETom – 18 month old male Rottweiler
Hope Rescue is looking for a new home for Tom, an 18 month old Rottweiler. He is a stunning dog with a bouncy, exuberant nature. Tom came to us from the pound in November 2010 and has been in kennels ever since, which is understandably taking its toll. Like all of his breed, he is a loyal and loving dog looking to give someone his devotion. Being alone and behind bars is not suiting him. Tom is looking for a new home as the only dog. Although he would be fine with dogs he meets out on walks he has not been assessed on how he would be living with another dog full time. He has not been tested with cats.
As you can see from the pictures he is a very attractive dog. He is also intelligent and biddable and has learnt the basic commands already. He is a large boy and strong on the lead so heelwork will need some continued focus.
Tom is looking for a home with no children. This is because he came to us from the pound so we do not know if he is used to the hustle and bustle children can bring. He is now showing some bad habits due to the high arousal levels when people are around in kennels such as jumping up and mouthing. When a kennelled dog sees a human it usually means walkies or food, the most exciting things about their day and he is having difficulty containing his emotions.
Tom will go out of our care as a foster dog to see how he settles in to a new home and allow him to be assessed further. We will offer full backup and behavioural support. His foster family could then decide if he is the one for them long term and if not, they can help us to rehome him from their home environment.
All Hope Rescue dogs are neutered, vaccinated, wormed, flea treated and microchipped prior to rehoming. A homecheck will be required, and you will need to come and meet the dog with your own dogs and family. Hope Rescue rehomes throughout the UK.
