Titch – 2 year old female Greyhound
Titch is a small, pretty brindle greyhound girl who wasn’t keen on the racing life. She turned 2 years old in March so this dear is still just a puppy with her whole life ahead of her.

~ Personality ~
Titch is a soft little sweetheart, just waiting for her right person. When Titch first meets you she is not really sure quite what to do and will hang her little head and tuck her tail under her body. Once she realises that you are going to give her lots of fuss this dote will gently snuggle into you and start to relax. When you’ve won Titch’s heart, she doesn’t forget and will greet all friends with a big helicopter tail!
Little Titch is still very unsure of the world in general and tends to watch and wait with one little front paw lifted while she assesses the situation. Given time, we are sure that Titch will blossom into a happy, playful, loving and quite perfect companion. She just needs her special person to come along and find her and take her home. In the meantime she’s waiting very patiently, with her little paw lifted up, for that to happen.

**UPDATE: NOVEMBER 2011**
Titch has been in her foster home for a good month now, and is settling and adjusting at a steady pace.
~ Personality ~
Titch is a lovely lady, adores people and likes to be the center of attention. She soaks up any fuss you give her as though it’s her last, and seems to crave physical contact from her foster parents. She will almost fall asleep whilst having head rubs and massages, and is happiest curled up with you while you watch the telly. She still has a bit to learn, but is responsive to training with yummy treats.

It’s important to know that Titch’s world has essentially been turned upside down and she will continue to slowly adjust to these changes over the next few months. She went from a racing kennel with its strict daily routine and minimal contact to living in a family home with amazing comforts and other dogs around her. Different hounds adjust to these changes in different ways, and with Titch this upheaval has resulted in her feeling insecure and anxious at times. This is manifesting as a warning growl at the other dogs in her foster home if she feels her personal space is being invaded or threatened. This growling has not amounted to anything, and is more just a vocalisation of her anxiousness at that current time. She has also had an unsettled tummy which is being attributed to her stress levels. Right now she is being fed a mild diet of cooked chicken and rice with dry Wainwright’s complete mix, and is doing better on this. She has put on some weight and is starting to fill out nicely.
This little girl is also developing a cheeky streak as she continues to settle, and likes to steal shoes and socks to collect in her bed. She doesn’t chew the items she pinches, just likes collecting them for safekeeping! Her most prized possession is her foster Mum’s knitting wool, which she loves to steal again and again just so she can snuggle with it in her bed! Titch is also learning how to play and loves running about with soft toys and a ball. She is an athletic girl with an active mind that has huge potential with the right owner.

~ In the Home ~
Little Titch is now accustomed to all the household sights and sounds and seems unphased by loud noises such as fireworks. Sadly, she is quite fearful of long objects that she thinks could potentially hit her, such as brooms and rolls of Christmas wrapping paper. She will shy away from them and remain wary until the object is out of sight. This nervousness should also diminish as Titch continues to settle and learn that nothing bad will happen to her anymore.
Titch is clean in the house, sleeps through the night and will stand by the back door to let you know she needs to go out. She is also learning some basic commands and is being taught to wait calmly for her supper.
~ Other Animals ~
Right now Titch is still in ‘racing hound’ mode and will chase other small furries, cats and small dogs if they are offlead. Some hounds take a bit longer than others to learn that not every moving thing needs to be chased! Her fosterers are working with her on this and she will continue to improve the more she’s socialised and exposed to other dogs being dogs. When other dogs are on leads and calm, Titch is very well behaved and does not pull to get to them no matter what their size and shape.
~ Out and About ~
In general, Titch is well behaved on the lead and walks to heel with a gentle leader headcollar. Her fosterers have walked her through their local town during busy periods and she is unphased by all the hustle and bustle, adoring anyone who stops to make a fuss of her. She also loves the car and loves to travel with her foster parents.
~ Where Can I Live? ~
Titch’s ideal home as of right now would be one with no young children due to her occasional growls, and no small dogs as she is still unsure as to what they are. She can live with larger dogs provided they are respectful of her space and her current stresses, but will need an owner who understands her current mind-set and needs. Please note that these requirements may likely change in the coming months as Titch continues to lose her anxiety and realise that she is safe in her foster home. This little girl is carrying a lot of weight on her shoulders, and we hope to see that lifted soon. There is still an awful lot of undiscovered potential in this dog, waiting to surface. She is full of surprises and is a very endearing little lady.
~ Where Am I? ~
Titch is currently in a foster home in Norfolk. Please note that adopters will need to travel to Norfolk to meet/adopt Titch.
Humbug – 12 week old male Whippet cross Lurcher
Meet the adorable little munchkin that is Humbug. He is a Whippet cross Lurcher pup who was found straying with no parents or family in sight. He is approx. 12 weeks old and has a pretty brindle coat with the cheekiest face you can imagine! Humbug has been in foster care for a few weeks now, and has put on lots of weight and condition. He now looks like a very healthy puppy, and not the thin, scraggly lost boy he was when he first came. He is growing fast now, but shouldn’t end up much bigger in height than a large whippet.

~ Personality ~
Humbug is a little sweetheart. He is an absolute delight to be around; his antics always keep a smile on your face. He is a complete mummy’s boy and adores getting hugs and cuddles, but also has a rough’n’tumble side and loves to play. He is fast becoming a well balanced, grounded little pup who loves everyone and everything. He is responsive to training and has already learned his name, though like all puppies his age, he still has a slightly short attention span! In typical young puppy style, Humbug adores his naps and will just flop down on the sofa for 40 winks – and no amount of shaking will wake him!

~ In the Home ~
Humbug has been in his foster home for about 3 weeks now, and is doing brilliantly. He sleeps soundly through the night, and his foster family leave him alone for periods during the day so that he won’t develop separation anxiety. He is coping with this alone time quite well. As with all puppies, Humbug likes to chew, but his chosen ‘toys’ (slippers, chair leg, garden pebbles!! etc.) are quickly replaced with a rag dog toy which he loves. He adores his grub, and is being fed 3 or 4 meals a day. Sometimes he can get a bit grumpy if he doesn’t want to do something, but he is learning that this is not acceptable behaviour. He has now mastered the art of house training, and will happily take himself outside to wee throughout the day. Please note that he may have a few mishaps when he first moves home, but this will stop once he becomes settled in his new home.

~ Other Animals ~
Humbug is being socialised with a variety of animals in his foster home, including dogs, cats, horses, hens, ducks, geese and even a pig! He gets on brilliantly with the two staffies he shares his home with, and these two older, well balanced dogs are teaching him the do’s and dont’s of dog socialising and play. Humbug likes nothing more than to curl up with his two staffy ‘brothers’ in the evening, and often shares their bed during the night. Humbug is also accepting of the family cats and is learning to respect their boundaries.

~ Out and About ~
Humbug is a joy to take out, and makes his foster parents proud. He enjoys being outside, exploring the vegetable patch, the long grass paddock, and hiding under the car with the resident cats! He entered his first dog show recently and was a little star with everyone and every dog there. He walks very well on a lead and collar even though he is still just learning what it’s for.

Humbug would be well suited to a variety of homes. He can live with other animals quite nicely and really enjoys being around other dogs. As he is just a pup, he would benefit from an active family who would take him out and show him the world. He has oodles of potential and may have a hidden talent for agility waiting to blossom. Kerry Greyhound Connection strongly recommends that Humbug’s new owners take him to training and/or socialisation classes early on so that he can continue to develop his social skills. This boy has the potential to be that perfect canine citizen and only needs a continuation of the training his foster home has started. With consistent boundaries in place from day one, Humbug is guaranteed to be that perfect family dog.

~ Where Am I? ~
Humbug is currently being fostered in Ireland and will be transported via Kerry Greyhounds to the UK when a suitable home offer comes up. This will be organised and paid for by Kerry Greyhounds, and we ask only for a donation to help cover costs. Please note that adopters will need to travel to our nearest collection point to pick him up, and if you are in the UK and wish to meet before adopting him, he will be fostered in the Norfolk area.
~ Want To Adopt Me? ~
Humbug is vaccinated, de-flea’d and wormed and a homecheck will be required as part of the adoption procedure. Due to his age, Humbug is not yet neutered, so potential adopters will need to agree to have this done once he is old enough (at approx. 6 months). Kerry Greyhound Connection may ask for a deposit on the neuter fee as a guarantee before adopting Humbug.
If you are interested in adopting little Humbug, please email me (Tam) on tamakin_84@yahoo.co.uk for our adoption application form and information pack. Emails are usually replied to within 24 hrs. Thanks!
28Jun2011 | Kerry Greyhound Connection | READ MOREGabby – 4 year old female Greyhound cross Lurcher
Meet dear Gabby. She is a little black greyhound cross lurcher girl who is approx. 4 years old. Gabby was taken in by Kerry Greyhound Connection as a stray and homed 2 years ago, but has sadly come back to us as she is no longer suited to the home. She is now looking for her new forever sofa. Gabby is a petite girl at 23” to the shoulder with a beautifully sleek, shiny black coat.

~ Personality ~
Gabby has found the sudden change in situation from home to kennel quite upsetting, and it is taking her a little while to re-adjust. She has only been with us for about a week, and we hope she will settle in and relax a bit more in the next week or two. She has shown herself to be a very sweet natured, people centric hound who just wants to be petted and loved. She is currently living up to her namesake and likes everyone to know how she feels!

~ Other Animals ~
Gabby was living with another male greyhound in her previous home, and they got on beautifully together. She can find over exuberant or in-your-face dogs quite bothersome, and will tell them off. Gabby likes to be respected and not feel threatened, and if the other dog gives her her space, they get on like a house on fire. She is currently being paired on her walks with one of our big, easy going male hounds, Oscar, and they are getting on great. Gabby walks well on the lead and really enjoys getting out of her kennel.

~ In the Home ~
Gabby has lived in a home for 2 years previous to coming back to us, and was generally well behaved in the house. She was fully housetrained, didn’t counter surf and was well used to all the sights and sounds of a home. She should have no real trouble re-adjusting back into the comforts of the home life, and will likely welcome a sofa with big open paws. She does suffer from separation anxiety, however, so new owners will need to be relatively firm in her training and set boundaries from day 1 to prevent her from becoming too clingy. If left alone for any period of time she gets distressed and will become destructive. This is something that could be worked on provided new owners are aware and prepared for this issue from the start.

Gabby would be ideally suited to a retired couple who want a mannered dog to walk with and to love. Gabby has oodles of loyal companionship to offer to whoever opens their arms for her, she just needs the right kind of home to suit her. This girl needs a home without children as if she is suddenly startled, e.g. when asleep, she may react without thinking. She has no problem meeting children when out and about, however, and has lived with them before. She could live with another male dog provided they were laid back and calm, though since she loves people so much, Gabby would be just as happy as an only dog provided she was not left alone for periods of time.

~ Where Am I? ~
Gabby is currently in kennels in Norfolk, UK. She can be homed anywhere in the UK, but please note that you will be required to travel to meet and collect her.
~ Want To Adopt Me? ~
Gabby is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, de-flea’d and wormed and a homecheck will be required as part of the adoption procedure. This girl would greatly benefit from being in a foster home, and Kerry Greyhound Connection is always in desperate need of new fosterers. It is such a rewarding experience, and costs are covered by the rescue.
If you are interested in adopting or short-term fostering Gabby, please email me (Tam) on tamakin_84@yahoo.co.uk for our adoption application form and information pack. Emails are usually replied to within 24hrs. Thanks!
28Jun2011 | Kerry Greyhound Connection | READ MORESteven – 1 year old male Greyhound
Meet Steven. He is a male Greyhound who, at just over a year old, has already finished with the racing world. Steven is a big, striking boy. He has an unusual white coat splattered with fawn patches and dots, and is sure to be just gorgeous once he loses the thick kennel coat and puts on some good condition.

~ Personality ~
Steven is one special dog. He has just come to us, and right now he is absolutely petrified of everything and everyone apart from other dogs. When his previous owner brought him to us, it took an hour just to get him out of the car. Steven came from a litter of 4, the rest of whom were sadly euthanized before we could get to them due to being too nervous to race – Steven is now the sole survivor. The dear boy is literally scared of his own shadow, and is going to need a very patient owner to help him gain in confidence and start to enjoy life.

~ Other Animals ~
Steven is good with other dogs of all sizes and absolutely must go to a home with other self-assured, confident dog(s) already present to help him come out of his shell. The more dogs around him, the more comfortable he feels. We are hoping to move him into foster care with other dogs in the near future.
~ Out and About ~
Right now Steven is very scared of the great outdoors and finds walking along a road very stressful. He must be walked in a double lead of harness and collar to prevent him escaping, as if something spooks him suddenly he will try to run away. His walks can take from 15mins to 2hrs depending on what he meets when out, as when he feels threatened he freezes and lays down on the road, wishing to disappear. Its so terribly sad that such a beautiful big dog is as traumatised and terrified as Steven, but we hope to see improvement soon. With lots of kind words and repetition, he should start to come out of his shell.

~ In the Home ~
Steven has never been in a home, but we hope to move him into foster care very soon. This boy’s progress should speed up significantly once he is in a loving home environment with constant contact with people. It will surely take him a while to readjust to all the strange sights and sounds of a home, but once he does we are certain he will never look back on his kennel days. This boy truly just wants to be loved, but is far, far too scared to make the initiative right now. He will need to be shown that people can be kind and gentle. Steven will need a calm, peaceful home, preferably in the country with no young children present so that he can truly relax in his own bed. We will update with this boy’s progress in the near future.
~ Where Am I? ~
Steven is currently being kennelled in Ireland and will be transported via Kerry Greyhounds to the UK or Europe when a suitable permanent or foster home offer comes up. This will be organised and paid for by Kerry Greyhounds, and we ask only for a donation to help cover costs. Please note that adopters will need to travel to our nearest collection point to pick him up, and if you are in the UK and wish to meet before adopting him, he will be fostered in the Norfolk area.

22Jun2011 | Kerry Greyhound Connection | READ MORENed – 4 year old male Greyhound
Meet Ned. He is an ex-racing greyhound boy who just turned 4 years old. Ned has had a very successful racing career with a total of 61 races and 25 wins under his belt. His race name is Saleen Neidin, Neidin being the Irish for a town in Co. Kerry, Ireland. Ned has worked extremely hard in his racing life and he was handed in to us to find him a fitting forever home. Ned is a big black boy who will be a real cracker once he loses his thick kennel coat.

~ Personality ~
Ned is a very sweet, laid back boy who adores getting fussed over and will do just about anything for a cuddle. He always has a waggy tail for you when you visit his kennel, and just loves to be loved. He is a calm, dependable boy who has seen a lot during his racing life and is used to crowds and traffic. He is a new boy to our kennels so we are still getting to know him, but so far he has been just superb.
~ Other Animals ~
Ned is very good with our other greyhounds and enjoys being in their company. He has spent his whole life kennelled with other hounds so is well used to sharing his space with them. He has not been tested yet with smaller dogs or cats, but these can be carried out prior to adoption if required. Often ex-racing greyhounds need a bit of socialisation with smaller dog breeds as they would never have seen them before, and at the start may not realise they are dogs!

~ In the Home ~
Ned has sadly not yet been in a home environment, so new owners will need to be a bit understanding at the start and give him time to learn the house rules. It generally takes greyhounds 10-14 days to start to settle in a home, and really all they need is time and patience. Once this boy discovers the joys of sofa roaching, he is likely never to get up again!
~ Out and About ~
Like most greyhounds, Ned is a low energy boy and does not need a huge amount of exercise. He will be content with two 30min walks a day and perhaps a chance to stretch his legs offlead in a safe area once or twice a week. He has spent his whole life running and is now quite content to just potter about and ‘sniff the roses’, so to speak. Ned walks excellently on the lead and travels well in the car.
~ Greyhounds as Pets ~
In general greyhounds are calm, mannerly dogs that are well used to being handled. They can fit very well in to a wide range of different lifestyles and usually adjust to the home life very quickly. Their soft, easy going nature often makes them ideal to live in a family with children, while their love of lazing around and low exercise requirements can make them perfect for the elderly. Greyhounds also don’t shed as much as other more popular dog breeds and this can make them suitable to live with allergy sufferers.

~ Where Am I? ~
Ned is currently being kennelled in Ireland and will be transported via Kerry Greyhounds to the UK or Europe when a suitable permanent or foster home offer comes up. This will be organised and paid for by Kerry Greyhounds, and we ask only for a donation to help cover costs. It is an extremely rewarding experience and costs are covered by us.

22Jun2011 | Kerry Greyhound Connection | READ MORETiny – 3 year old female Greyhound
Tiny is a 3 year old greyhound girl who was brought to us with her brother Toto to find their forever homes. Toto has since found his new family, but dear Tiny is still waiting patiently for hers. Tiny has never raced and has been handled nicely in the past. She is a beautiful brindle girl with bright eyes and a silky soft coat.

Tiny is a super little girl and we are amazed that she has been waiting so long (nearly a year) to find her perfect family. After the hard decision to split her and her brother up, we hope that Tiny will find her new family very soon.
Tiny with her bigger brother, Toto (now adopted).

~ Personality ~
Dear Tiny really is a joy to be around. She is friendly, confident and affectionate and absolutely loves being around people and other dogs. She is a happy, playful girl who enjoys romping around in the garden but is just as content to snooze the evenings away on the sofa while you watch the TV. Tiny loves her ear scratches and can be so very sweet natured. She really is a super little lady and whoever adopts her is sure to have a loyal friend for life.

~ Other Animals ~
Tiny is very good with other dogs and has had lots of practice in meeting them when out on walks. She shares her foster home with other dogs and, up until recently, with her brother Toto whom she got on very well with. She loves playing chase in the garden and greatly enjoys her toys. Tiny would do well in a home with other similarly minded dogs who would play her game.
~ In the Home ~
Tiny has been living in a foster home for over 6 months now, and is very well settled. She is just perfect in the home, it is hard to fault her. She is housetrained, not destructive and ok to be left with other dogs for company. She sleeps soundly and quietly through the night and is content with the routine of walk in the morning and snooze in the evening. She has no qualms sharing her space or toys with the other dogs in her foster home, and is in general an all-round star. This girl would be well suited to a range of home types. She would be a good girl for a first time hound owner as she is so centered and dependable. She would also be well suited to an active home with kids to play with her and even teach her some tricks. Tiny is a super little lass who is very flexible and accommodating.
~ Out and About ~
Tiny is just brilliant when out on her walks, she is a model hound. She greets everyone with a waggie tail and a sniff n’lick, and is very polite. She is used to seeing other dogs out on her walks and is very dog savvy. She walks neatly on the lead and rarely pulls. She is an active, inquisitive girl who really loves being out, and due to her fab personality she is no trouble at all. Tiny has taken part in Kerry Greyhound Connection group walks and meet-ups, and has been just super with the crowds of people and dogs. This girl really is no bother, and is a joy to have around.
Beautiful Tiny has been waiting an extremely long time for her forever home, and sadly could not find it with her brother Toto. It is through no fault at all of her own, and we dearly hope that she can look forward to finding her forever family in the very near future. This girl is very near to perfect and has oodles of love to give.

Meet the very beautiful Tara. She is a 2.5 year old greyhound girl who was brought in to us with her near identical sister, Tessa. In an ideal world we would love to find a home for these girls together, but we will home them separately if the right families come along. Tara is a very pretty girl with a blue coat and striking amber eyes. She is 26” to the shoulder with a slender build, and has the most amazing ears!

~ Personality ~
Tara is a new girl to our kennels and we are still assessing her. So far, though, she has been a real star of a girl and we can’t yet find fault in her. She is beautiful in both appearance and personality, and enjoys getting a good ear scratch in the mornings.
~ Other Animals ~
Tara is well behaved with the other greyhounds in the kennels and has not caused an ounce of trouble. She has also been very mannerly with the small dogs she has met so far, and will greet them politely before continuing on her way. This girl would do well in a home with another canine buddy, or most ideally with her sister Tessa. She is not cat friendly.

~ In the Home ~
Tara has not been in a home environment before, so new owners will need to be a bit patient during the first couple of weeks and allow her time to settle in and learn the home rules. It generally takes 10-14 days for new greyhounds to start to settle down in a home, and really all they need is a bit of time and patience. 9Jun2011 | Kerry Greyhound Connection | READ MOREShane – 4 year old male Greyhound
Shane is a 4 year old ex-racing greyhound boy. Shane has had a distinguished racing career but has now come to us to find his forever retirement home. Shane is a beautiful, big, black boy standing at 28” to the shoulder. He has a bit of kennel coat at the moment, but it shouldn’t be too long before he is a super sleek boy with a real healthy sheen to his black coat.
~ Personality ~
Shane has a wonderfully happy personality and, despite his large size, is incredibly easy to handle. He is very biddable and will do anything for some praise and a head rub. This boy is so easy to please and is going to enjoy the warm comforts of a loving family home so very much.

~ Other Animals ~
Shane is very good with other dogs, and is polite and mannerly in greeting them. He likes to romp offlead with the other hounds in the enclosed paddock, and is starting to take an interest in toys. He has not been tested yet with cats, but this can be carried out prior to adoption if required.

Bowie is a 3 year old ex-racing greyhound boy who, after running 15 races, is now finished with the racing life. Bowie has a handsome boy with a reddish brindle coat that is very soft and silky to the touch.
~ Personality ~
Bowie has only just come to us, so we are still assessing him. So far, though, Bowie has been nothing but a 5 star hound and has been easy going with the people and hounds in the kennels. He is very friendly and enjoys his head rubs.

~ Other Animals ~
Bowie has been good with the other greyhounds in our kennels so far, and likes getting to run with them. He has not been tested yet with smaller dogs or cats, but these can be carried out prior to adoption if required. Often ex-racing greyhounds need a bit of socialisation with smaller dog breeds as they would never have seen them before, and at the start may not realise they are dogs!
~ Out and About ~
Like most greyhounds, Bowie is a low energy boy and does not need a huge amount of exercise. He will be content with two 30min walks a day and perhaps a chance to stretch his legs offlead in a safe area once or twice a week.
~ Where Am I? ~
Bowie is currently being kennelled in Ireland and will be transported via Kerry Greyhounds to the UK or Europe when a suitable permanent or foster home offer comes up.
Bowie is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, de-flea’d and wormed and a homecheck will be required as part of the adoption procedure. 9Jun2011 | Kerry Greyhound Connection | READ MOREAce – 3 year old male Greyhound
Meet the fabulous Ace. This fine young hound tried his paw on the track and indeed won a couple of races. However, the racing game isn’t really Ace’s thing and he has now retired to find his forever sofa. Ace is a lovely 3 year old fawn boy who is in good health and condition. Ace is a newcomer so we are still getting to know him. He appears to be a very gentle, loving boy who has no problems asking for neck rubs. Ace is looking forward to life as a beloved pet where the only thing his has to chase is a ball!

~ Other Animals ~
Ace has been very good with the other greyhounds in our kennels so far, and enjoys running offlead with them. He has not been tested yet with smaller dogs or cats, but these can be carried out prior to adoption if required. Often ex-racing greyhounds need a bit of socialisation with smaller dog breeds as they would never have seen them before, and at the start may not realise they are dogs!
~ In the Home ~
Ace has not yet been in a home environment, so new owners will need to be a bit understanding at the start and give him time to learn the house rules. It generally takes greyhounds 10-14 days to start to settle in a home, and really all they need is time and patience.
~ Out and About ~
Like most greyhounds, Ace is a real couch potato and does not need a huge amount of exercise. He will be content with two 30min walks a day and perhaps a chance to stretch his legs offlead in a safe area once or twice a week. He walks very nicely on the lead and rarely pulls.
The eye-catching Ace is still waiting for his forever home. He has become a bit of a lovable rogue in the kennels as he now knows all the staff and can be very lively upon greeting you in the morning. When out on his walks, however, Ace settles very well and his manners show up nicely. He has quite the character and has a way of wiggling himself into your heart!

~ Other Animals ~
Ace has been introduced to our resident terrier and got on very well with him. We think he could live nicely in a home with small dogs provided his play isn’t allowed to escalate too much as he could accidentally bowl over a smaller dog. He means no harm, however, and is a lovely natured boy. He is not suitable to live with cats.

**UPDATE: JUNE 2011**
Dear Ace is still waiting for his forever family to come along, but he has now moved across to the UK to wait. He has handled the transition between our kennels very well, and is greeting everyone with a big wagging tail. This boy is going to be a super pet.
~ Where Am I? ~
Ace is currently in kennels in Norfolk, UK. He can be homed anywhere in the UK, but please note that you will be required to travel to the foster home to meet and collect him.
