Coal – 2 year old male Patterdale Terrier
Coal is a 2 year old Patterdale Terrier. He is an adorable boy with a very sweet personality. He can be a little shy and unsure when first meeting new people but soon makes friends and loves to play with his toys with you. He gives kisses and cuddles and even sits back to give you both is paws. He doesn’t enjoy being in kennels but loves time in the kennel kitchen playing with his toys and lying on his bed. He loves his daily walks and is generally a happy boy.
He is looking for an experienced dog owner who will allow him to settle into a new home and gain his confidence with new people and new situations as he may not have been treated kindly in the past. He can be very worried if ‘crowded’ by someone he doesn’t know. He does not like cats and can be selective with some dogs so would prefer to be an only pet. He is not unlike many other terriers in that given the opportunity he would chase cats. Coal could live with children over the age of 14 years in an experienced home.

Sam is a 2 year old Rottweiller. He is a big, handsome boy who has been very well behaved and sociable in kennels. He knows some of his basic training and will continue to learn more whilst he is with us. He is strong on the lead but is walked with a Gentle Leader and is responding well. He appears friendly towards other dogs but will react to any dog that appears to dislike him. He loves his walks and playing with his toys. He is steady and quite laid back and is looking for a new owner/family with knowledge of his breed. He will need a garden to play in and regular daily exercise.
Basil – 3 year old male Cross-Breed
Basil is a 3 year old cross-breed. He arrived as a stray at the end of June and was clearly a very scared, nervous and anxious boy. He was worried by the sights and sounds of the kennels and struggled to trust the staff. Basil can still appear worried and anxious at certain times but has built a very good relationship with his kennel mum, Rebecca, and some of the other staff. Poor Basil seemed to crave the comfort of companionship but appeared indifferent and unsure when touched. This poor boy has clearly had a very bad time in the past. He has been going home with a member of staff in the evening and returning to kennels in the day and he has grown a little in confidence and is happy to be part of the home, although it has taken him a long time to feel safe and secure.
We are looking for a very special new home for him and it is clear he will take a little time and patience and understanding before he feels settled. He will bond very well with his new owner and once he is happy and relaxed he will be a very, loyal, affectionate and loving boy. He will need to live with adults only and a secure garden to explore and play in and he loves his daily walks. Basil has made some dog friends at the Centre but may prefer to be an only pet.

Freckles is a 4 year old Terrier cross. He is a very handsome boy who was clearly very scared and overwhelmed when he was first brought into the Centre as a stray. It is clear to us that this poor little dog has been treated very unkindly in the past. It would appear he has been teased badly and also punished severely. He is doing really well with our staff and is gaining trust and confidence each day.
He is very friendly and affectionate once he knows you and loves to have his tummy tickled and share his toys with you. Freckles is looking for an experienced owner without children who can allow him to settle into a new home and continue to build his confidence slowly and consistently. He will make a very loyal companion and he needs a steady, calm home life where he will not feel overwhelmed or put under pressure.

Tye is a 2 year old Akita. He is adorable especially because he has one ‘bent’ ear. Poor Tye has not had a good start in life, in fact he hasn’t received the respect and care he deserved in any of his previous homes. He is a very steady, well behaved boy and it is a testament to his temperament that he has not held his past unkind treatment against people. He just wants to be loved. He is very friendly and affectionate with the kennel staff and knows his basic training commands.
He loves his regular, daily walks and to be groomed and played with. He is a super dog that is looking for a new owner with knowledge/experience of his breed and someone that will be understanding and patient with him whilst he settles into a new home and routine. He has made some doggy friends at the Center and he could possibly live with a compatible female. He is also looking for an adult only home. He will need a secure garden and regular daily walks and loads of love.
