Bruce and Eros - 5 year old male Jack Russell Terrier and Labrador Retriever
Bruce is a very handsome black Labrador and Eros is a gorgeous rough coated Jack Russell Terrier. Both boys are aged 5 years old. This delightful pair are ideal family dogs and you just cant fault them - well okay Eros doesn’t like cats! They have excellent manners and are an absolute joy to have around.

(Eros, pictured above)
Sadly, their owners lives have changed and they just can’t do them justice, so made the heartbreaking decision to rehome them.

They are devoted to each other so we are looking for a home for them together. Can you offer them a loving new home together?

Wallace - 4 year old male Dobermann
Wallace is a fabulous 4 year old Dobermann boy. Wallace has always been around children, but may be too bouncy for little ones. He loves people and other dogs, but has no experience of cats. He is fabulous fun, house-trained, and an excellent traveller too. His family absolutely adored him and he accompanied them on their travels on a (now expired) passport. Sadly they have separated and he had to stay with ‘Mum’, sadly his Dad couldn’t take him.

Wallace has a typical Dobie sense of humour and this is where he got into trouble. His poor Mum, frazzled from trying to cope alone, work full time and make a home for them both, was unable to devote as much time to Wallace. So he spent more and more time alone and his walks got shorter and shorter. She was also facing losing her home.
So Wallace invented games to make walks longer and get Mum to run around after him - all great fun, but just too much for his long suffering Mum. He then began to escape from the garden - well, to walk through a broken gate really and she was so scared he would get hurt that, realising she couldn’t cope, she asked us to find him a new home.

Tinker is a gorgeous Greyhound boy aged approximately 3 years. Tinker never raced, he was always a pet. Sadly his owner committed suicide and this poor boy then spent over a year in kennels.

He has settled well at the Barn, loves the other dogs, and is very affectionate and very demonstrative. He hasn’t been around children, as far as we know, so best homed with over 12’s as he can get a bit over excited, and younger children can be VERY exciting!

Mojo is a stunning Whippet lad aged around 2 1/2 years old. He is a super charged whippet and LOVES to play. He is fantastic with other dogs when off the lead, though very full on in his play, perhaps too much for the shy retiring sort of dog. Although castrated he has been known to insigate a game of ‘trains’ if they stand still - I haven’t seen this yet but have reliable information that this may happen.

He yells and shouts with anticipation if he sees another dog/s when on a lead. Mojo is NOT good with cats, I believe he thinks they may be an alternative to tinned food! When Mojo first came to us there was a query over his behaviour with food. We have had no problems at all here. He is mixing with dogs of all sizes and temperamentsand he has not shown aggression over food. But I do feed him alone in a crate - mainly because he eats in the kitchen, with our geriatrics.

Izzy is a little over 2 years old and is an English Pointer cross. She is a delightful, friendly and affectionate girl. Izzy was originally an unclaimed stray at about 10 months old and we had rehomed her to a family with children and another dog. Sadly, after almost a year, they returned her, saying she was a fabulous dog, well behaved and wonderful with the children BUT she had had a couple of scraps with the existing dog over food - well she was so thin when they bought her back we are not at all surprised.

Suffice to say she has, and still is, putting on weight with proper feeding and has not shown any sign of aggression towards other dogs in any situations - including at meal times. Izzy is house-trained, has shown no destructive tendencies, is excellent in the car, walks well on a lead and is generally very obedient. She loves children and mixes very well with other dogs. She has not been cat tested.

Chas - 8 year old male Golden Retriever
Chas is an 8 year old Golden Retriever male. Sadly, his Dad died and he went to live with some family members. Unfortunately the family broke down and he was left with the daughter-in-law and her children, but she just couldn’t manage and hence Chas needs a home with a family who have the time and resources to care for him properly. Chas is house-trained, excellent on and off a lead and an ace traveller.

He is excellent with children and is used to living with little ones. He is brilliant with other dogs and he also seems happy with cats. Chas has only one hang-up: he is nervous of slippery floors i.e. tiled, lino or laminated ones. What this means is that he will hesitate to walk on them and when he does it’s like Bambi on the ice! We have no idea why he has this fear - at first we thought it was kitchens that worried him, but it seems it is the type of floor - maybe he slipped badly at some time in the past?

If you have these sort of floors non slip mats, strategically placed, will help him till he realises they are not about to turn into moving staircases.

Jasper is 8 years old and we were told he was a Lhasa Apso cross Shih Tzu. His pet log forms say a Shih Tzu so you guess! He is a super chap and is with us because his owner is elderly and now needs residential care.

Jasper is house-trained, excellent in the car, good on and off a lead.He has been very good with the children he has met whilst with us, (8 years and upwards), and he loves other dogs.

Jilly is 4 years old and Meg is 6 and they are both Bichon Frises. These girls are ex-breeding bitches, although neither has been excessively bred from. They are friendly girls and once they get to know you are an absolute delight with tap dances at mealtimes and very affectionate.

Jilly is unsure about some men. Both girls have been used to children, though I think noisy babies or boisterous toddlers and children would be a bit much. They are both used to living with cats. House training is coming on well, but help and supervision is still needed.

They walk on a lead and are both fine in the car too. Jilly and Meg need homes either together or with other dogs to show them the ropes and instil confidence.

Evie is around 4 years old and she is a Saluki based Lurcher, an unclaimed stray and is an absolute delight. Sadly Evie has lost a back leg. It has been surgically removed, we don’t know why or when it happened, but is all healed up and clearly happened some time ago. Evie is incredibly affectionate and adores people.Typically for a Lurcher she chooses the best bed and makes herself at home wherever she goes.

Evie gets on well with other dogs BUT is a bit of a Diva and can become dominant and bossy if allowed to. Evie can run like the wind, but her biggest bugbear is dogs who can run faster than her, though few can manage this!

Toby - 8 month old male Jack Russell Terrier
Toby is an absolutely delightful, 8 month old, tri-colour, short-legged Jack Russell Terrier. Toby has sadly had to come into rescue because his owners have had to have a change of accommodation and are now unfortunately unable to keep pets.

Toby is an utter poppet - he is great with kids, cats and other dogs, travels well and is house-trained. Could Toby be the Terrier for you?
