Snoop – 18 month old male Staffordshire Bull Terrier
This is Snoop, he is a very handsome 18 month old Staffordshire Bull Terrier. He is looking for an active home with some bull terrier experience or general dog experience. Snoop is very typical of his breed and due to his energy levels he would need someone who is willing to put in the time and effort for him to excel. Snoop would be best suited as an only dog and is unable to live with cats. He is able to live with older children providing they are confident with dogs and are willing to participate with his training. Snoop is incredibly intelligent and loves doing obedience training and agility.

Lady – 1-2 year old female Border Collie
This is Lady. A very dainty Border collie, born in approximately 2009. Lady is looking for a collie experienced home as she needs someone who understands the breed. She may be able to live with another dog and possibly a confident cat although this is being assessed regularly. She is best suited to an adult only home. Lady is wary of new people and can take some time to come round. Despite this, she has made good progress with her handlers at the centre. If you feel you could offer Lady a new home then please speak to a member of staff.

Sam – 6 year old male Cross-Breed
This handsome chap is Sam. He is approximately 6 years old and to us as a stray so unfortunately we have no information on his previous home life. Sam is able to live with older children (teenagers) who are used to dogs and are willing to participate with his training.

He may be able to live with
another dog although this needs further testing. Sam may be able to live a cat although this is also regularly being assessed. Sam would benefit greatly from having new owners with a good amount of canine knowledge.

Izzy – 12-15 month old female Lurcher Cross
This lovely lady is Izzy. She is a female, black with a little white lurcher cross born in 2009-2010. Izzy is incredibly playful, affectionate and all-round fun loving dog. She is progressing well with her training, so would love a home who will continue this on, and possibly get into agility or something as she is a very clever girl.
Izzy may be able to live with another dog who is confident, well-mannered, and middle aged depending on how they get along. Izzy has not had a great deal of training or input in her previous home so is looking for a home who can help her develop and learn new things. Izzy would prefer not to live with cats as she will chase them. She should be ok to live with sensible, calm colder children who are willing to get involved in her training.

Ralph – 3 year old male Beagle Cross
This is Ralph. He is a 3 year old Beagle cross. Ralph is looking for an active home with a family who have some experience/knowledge of his breeding. He would be best suited to someone who is about for most of the day and is happy to put in the time and commitment to enable Ralph to reach his full potential. He is incredibly friendly and loving.
Ralph is unsuitable to live with cats as he enjoys chasing small animals. He could possibly live with another dog although this is regularly being assessed. He has live with older children previously so is suitable to live with sensible children aged 10 years and over.
18Dec2010 | National Animal Welfare Trust Somerset | READ MOREDoris – 2 year old female Staffordshire Bull Terrier
This absolutely stunning little creature is Doris. She is a 2 year old Staffordshire Bull Terrier. She was found abandoned near by. Doris has come on leaps and bounds since arriving at the centre and we are looking for a loving home with some Stafford experience to continue with her training.
Due to her being a stray, we have no history of her previous home life. She would be best suited as an only dog as she needs one to one work to build up her confidence, this will also give her the opportunity to relax and find her feet in a home environment without any distractions from another dog. Doris would be best suited to quiet adult home. If you have a passion for this breed and are looking to adopt then please ask to see Doris. You will not be disappointed.

Hi, please stop to consider me. I know I look a little nervous but once I’m out and about I’m a lot more confident. I have had an unfortunate start in life and am looking for a chance to get back into a normal doggie routine. My new owners will have to have a reasonable amount of canine experience as I need a little help to build my confidence. Please ask a member of staff and they’ll be happy to get me out of kennel.
Archie – 1 year old male Bassett Hound cross English Springer Spaniel
This handsome and rather unusual looking chap is Archie. He is a black and white short haired Bassett hound cross Springer spaniel also known as a Springbat, born in 2009. Archie is a very loveable, affectionate boy who loves the company of his human pals. Archie would be better not to live with cats or small animals as he does like to chase them.
Archie should be ok to live with children aged 6+ who are sensible, calm around dogs and used to dogs. Archie truly is a lovely boy, are you able to give Archie the active and loving home he needs??
15Dec2010 | National Animal Welfare Trust Somerset | READ MORETarka – 1 year old female Cross-Breed
This lovely lady is Tarka. She is a female, tan Akita cross Rottie cross Staffie, born on the 25th November 2009. Although that mix of breeds may sound daunting, she really is a lovely, cuddly, energetic lady who will need to continue with her training as she still has much to learn. Tarka should be okay to live with children aged 7+ who are confident and used to bouncy dogs and willing to get involved in her training, (we would assess her with them on an individual basis). She is currently under assessment with cats as she has shown varying reactions so far.
Ideally Tarka will be the only dog in the family to give her and you ample opportunity to learn in the best possible way and as quickly as possible without having the distraction of another dog. Tarka will need a good amount of time and energy dedicated to her in her new home, are you able to offer her this and you will reap the rewards of having such a joy in your household!?!!
10Nov2010 | National Animal Welfare Trust Somerset | READ MOREErnie – 10 month old male Labrador Cross
This cheeky chappy is Ernie. He is a male, black and white Labrador cross born in January 2010. Ernie (Ernie Jnr here as we have more than one Ernie), has had a very chaotic and rocky start to his short life so far, which has impacted on how he behaves now. He is an anxious chap and will need a family who has been used to larger dogs before and wants a project dog to bring on and develop. Ernie’s main issue is separation anxiety. He will need plenty of training in his new home as he has had little input in learning the basics before coming to us.
Ernie should be ok to live with children aged 14+ who are used to large breed dogs and will be willing to take part in his training. He would prefer not to live with cats or any small animals as he will chase them!! We would prefer for Ernie to live as an only dog, this is primarily due to the amount of training he will need in the home as he is less likely to concentrate with another dog around. We are looking for experienced dog owners as he is not really a first time pooch. Can you help Ernie find his forever home??
