Ben – 4 year old male Neapolitan Mastiff

Poor Ben was another dog dumped and left to die on the streets until he was picked up and put in the council pound.  He is currently in foster care with our consultant behaviourist because he had been starved and was a very scared dog around food but he since being rescued he is starting to realise he can relax and humans give food, they don’t take it away!
ben
He has been neutered, microchipped and vaccinated but thanks to some terrible neglect and poor breeding he is very weak on his back legs and will need a home with the following requirements: owners who don’t like long walks, owners who want an affectionate, playful, loyal companion,a home without the need to climb any stairs either outside or inside, a large secure garden in a very quiet neighbourhood with no distractions on the other side of the fence, he could live with a large breed, calm, neutered female and he gets stressed by car travel so preferably within walking distance of the vet, exercise fields etc. He walks beautifully with a Halti Harness and is now crate trained upto about an hour.
ben
He is currently being fostered in Kent and potential adopters are very welcome to come and visit him!

Truffle – 4 year old female Neapolitan Mastiff

Truffle is a 4 year old female Neapolitan Mastiff who was dumped and left to die before being taken to a council pound.  She had been given 7 days to live but thanks to an emergency appeal and the wonderful response from so many supporters we managed to get her out and into a terrific foster home just in the nick of time!
truffle
She is a lively, happy, friendly girl who is reliving her puppyhood with her foster carer!  She needs corrective surgery on her eyes to relieve the discomfort of cherry eye so this will be done as soon as possible before she is rehomed.  She is microchipped and vaccinated.

She needs a home experienced with lively giant breeds although she will not need hours of exercise as she has some mobility problems with her back legs which will be investigated.  She can’t be assessed properly with other dogs until she has her cherry eye rectified as she simply can’t see well enough at the moment but she does seem to be friendly towards them so she may be able to live with a calm, older neutered male. We are currently assessing homes for her so please contact us as soon as possible so that you can be the ‘potential’ list for this BEAUTIFUL girl!

Chloe – 3 year old female Neapolitan Mastiff

Chloe is a beautiful Neapolitan Mastiff but very scared 3 year old female who has been treated very badly.  She is currently in emergency boarding kennels but she is not coping very well and desperately needs a home.  She was kicked out by her first owner because she treated her like baby and wouldn’t let her out of her sight, then when the real baby came along the dog was no longer needed and used to pine terribly for the relationship she once had with her owner.
chloe
We need someone who is at home a lot of the time to help her learn that she will be okay on her own.  She would probably settle very well with a calm male dog.  Neapolitan Mastiff Welfare’s consultant behaviourist will assist with any problems encountered with Chloe but she is a lovely dog, just very very scared at the moment.  Please consider her if you have been thinking about adopting a large female dog.  She will be neutered, vaccinated and microchipped before she is rehomed.

Vinnie – 2 year old male Neapolitan Mastiff

Vinnie is a 2 year old male Neapolitan Mastiff who has had a really tough time.  His first owner took him back to his breeder when they no longer wanted him.  The breeder rehomed him very irresponsibly and he found his way back into rescue within months.
vinnie
Luckily the breeder of his sire has stepped in to help (we love responsible breeders!) and is caring for him now but this poor boy is in kennels and he really needs to be in a warm loving home as soon as possible.  He will be anybody’s friend for a custard cream…  He is neutered, microchipped and vaccinated.  Please consider him if you have been thinking about adopting a male Neapolitan Mastiff.

Missy – 8 year old female Neapolitan Mastiff

Missy is a lovely-natured, gentle 8 year old Neapolitan Mastiff lady who needs a loving, peaceful home after her owners decided to kill her and another dog she lived with just because she was getting older. Luckily for her, she was rescued in the nick of time and is now in foster care looking for a forever home.

She is very friendly and gets on well with other dogs but has been pestered relentlessly by younger dogs in her previous home and deserves a quieter life now so maybe a home with one or two other older male dogs would be right for her (but all homes offered considered!).

She is in very good health for her age and has settled into foster care very well. She is still fit and active and likes to go for short walks. Missy’s ideal home will be with people who have a gentler pace of life, are around most of the time and can provide a sunny spot in the garden in summer or a warm place by the fire in winter for her to snooze in.

She would make an absolutely terrific companion as she adores people and lives for human contact and kindness. Please consider her even if you have never owned a Neapolitan Mastiff – she is a wonderful girl.

Kizzy

Kizzy is a gorgeous 4 year Neapolitan Mastiff female who has had a terrible run of luck. She was originally from a home with 10 dogs and was given to rescue because one of the other dogs took a dislike to her. She was then rehomed to a family who ignored all of our advice on how to settle her in and she became terrified of them. Instead of giving her a chance, listening to our advice and helping her they dumped her back on rescue within a few days!

She then developed a serious internal infection and nearly died but luckily the foster carers who took her in are loving, patient people who have nursed her back to health and they adore her. With all of the troubles she has been through she needs a loving, patient home with people who are experienced with Mastiff types. She has been no trouble at all with her foster carers and we desperately want to see her in a good home as soon as possible.

Vito

Vito is a young male Neapolitan Mastiff who was rescued from a sad life in a flat about 8 months ago to live in a country hotel with 3 Dalmatians, cats, geese, goats and parrots for company! He is described as gentle and loving, adoring the company of people and other dogs.

neapmastwelf_vito.JPG

He is being rehomed because he becomes too excited when seeing small dogs and cats and this is causing a problem in the hotel as many of the guests bring small dogs. This fairly common problem can be helped with behavioural modification and management which we will offer help with to his new owners.

Obviously his new home must not have cats or small dogs but he will happily live with other medium to large breeds in a Mastiff-experienced home so please get in touch with us if you are interested in him. He is neutered, vaccinated and micro-chipped and has no health problems other than a slight recurring eye problem easily resolved by inserting drops.
