Xena – 4 year old female Staffordshire Bull Terrier Cross

Xena is about 4 years old, she is Staffordshire Bull Terrier Cross but with those ears we have no idea what with! She is a real quirky girl, lookswise and personality wise. Xena is a funny little girl! She is very short and pretty as you can see. She loves attention and is generally a very well behaved dog. She travels well and appears to be housetrained. She doesn’t like other dogs and really would prefer a home without children. She hasn’t shown any aggression to children but can be quite giddy, from what we have seen we think she would be a really easy and lovely companion for a couple or family with teenage children. Xena is such a cutie and so well behaved that she lives in our feedroom/staffroom where she cuddles up next to the radiator when we aren’t there or on our laps if we are! Poor Xena has been with us since Jan 2008!Can you save her from kennels?

Millie and Lily – 8 and 4 year old female Staffordshire Bull Terrier and Staffordshire Bull Terrier Cross

Millie is a pure Staffordshire Bull Terrier aged about 8 years old now and Lily is a Staffordshire Bull Terrier cross aged about 4 years old now. Millie came to us two years ago after being found dumped in the middle of dual carriageway in Leeds with Lily. They are both absolutely beautiful dogs who are now struggling with kennel life. We know they aren’t perfect, it is rare to find a rescue dog that is, but they have hearts of gold and just want to be loved. They were found together but can be homed seperately.

Lily

Millie is not keen on other dogs and needs to be the only pet. She enjoys walks but really misses her home comforts. Lily loves all people and other dogs but finds it hard to sit still! We know all these two’s quirks and would be happy to work with either of them in their new homes . Both Millie & Lily suffer from separation anxiety and would need to be crate trained, and not left very long. Lily is quite anxious and has a lot of energy. She would love an active home where she can play people/dogs and enjoy long walks. A fully enclosed garden is a must but Lily can climb so could not be left alone in a garden. This is why we feel it is so urgent to find her a home because she jumps our runs to come and find us which is dangerous for her as she sprained her leg recently and has nearly come to face with dogs that really don’t like other dogs!

Millie

Therefore she is in her kennel most of the day which is no good for her and breaks our hearts Lily has been out on long walk and is very good; she does go off the lead but sometimes prefers to follow the other dogs! Both the girls have been ‘helping’ with the gardening this week to get them out a bit more. They follow us around the field happily.

Millie is now nearly eight years old and it is so sad that she is still here. She is definitely a favourite with the staff, and of the two would be the easier to train. Millie does eventually settle and go and amuse herself. Unfortunately her only joy in life at the moment is food and digging up rocks to play with. Obviously we would never endorse this but we can’t tell her off for A) going and amusing herself which is a new thing for her, instead of pining for attention. B) We can’t deprive her of the one thing she enjoys! Once she is a loving home where she can ‘swap’ her rock for a bone then we would say definitely no more rocks, but look how happy she is here!
