Zena and Hercules - 1 year old female and male Border Collies

Zena (female) and Hercules (male) are 1 year old Border Collies - not sure of classic greek mythology but these two are in love. They are called the twins in our foster household. They are litter mates (May 07) and oops had their own litter. They were then neutered and soon after lost their home. They have lived with very young children successfully and are very socialiable dogs.

They have never been formally walked so we are beginning to introduce them to this. Zena is just getting used to a collar and approaching her with a lead. They are also being introduced to the car.

What a lovely pair - if you’ve had a loving Collie you’ll know that look, that closeness, oh so tender. They need to remain together. Hercules is the more confident of the pair. Here is Hercules with Zena (above) if she see you, she’ll come for cuddles.

They are currently being fostered in Surrey. For further details, please contact Dee at Rescue Remedies by emailing Dee@Rescueremedies.co.uk

Bailey - 11 month old male Border Collie

Bailey is a wonderful Border Collie with a smoothish coat. He is approximately 11 months and very handsome. He just hasn’t found the right home yet. He has tried 5 times and ended up in a pound, then kennels and at last he is in foster having a great time. Bailey is initailly quite wary and finds eye to eye contact very intimidating on first meeting and gets very worried. But, if you remember the rules, no full eye contact and don’t lean into his space, he comes round and once he decides he likes you he’s absolutely fine. He finds children very trying for this reason.

He’s very obedient, picking things up very quickly. On his first walk he had to be persuaded into water, but very quickly found the paddling pool and is now a real water baby, splashing in the water and trying to catch the droplets, a game he found himself and will play for ages. Once he’s decided to be brave there’s no stopping him. Bailey needs formal training by a kind, experienced hand, he has also been assessed as an ideal agility candidate.

Like a lot of young Collies, he gets over-excited and then forgets his manners, but with some basic training and something to focus on,this is all very do-able and I think he’ll make a great agility or flyball dog. His eye/mouth corordination is great, and he’ll happily give stuff up so you can throw it again.

He’s forward going, fast, toy orientated, looks for opportunities to interact and bonds very quickly. He crates well, with only a bit of whinging, travels in the car excellently. He is strong on the lead, introduced him to a figure of eight headcollar, which he accepted very well and very quickly, and which stops him pulling.

So, if you’re in the in the market for a companion who likes a fuss and an agility dog with real potential, and are prepared to work calmly and confidently with him to ease his initial wariness and tone down some of his overexcitement, Bailey is really worth considering.

He is currently being fostered in Surrey. He is neutered, vaccinated and micro-chipped and is in good health. Bailey is great with dogs and lovely boy who hasn’t his confidence yet with people but meeting people he can trust who are sticking with him and he is responding.

Ideally to join in with 1 or 2 other dog household or a family who be there for him so he brings it all together and becomes the cracking dog he is destined to be. Because of Bailey’s trauma in kennels i.e. reacting very badly and jumping jumping we are also looking for a home who do not use kennels for holidays care.

Coco - 11 month old female German Shepherd cross Rottweiler

Coco is an 11 month old female German Shepherd cross Rottweiler which is a famed cross and its the strength on which we rescued her as an emergency and have no regrets as she is fabulous. As a tiny puppy she grew up with 4 children aged toddler upwards to 9 years old. She was fantastic but they didn’t have time for her..likewise the friends that took her on in a first floor flat.

There she was the victim of domestic violence in her second and last home but although it must have been difficult for her to live through; it wasn’t directed at her. She became abandoned in the ‘no-go flat’ with people frightened to go in to feed her as she was a ‘big dog’ a big bowl of food parked under her nose won her over in an instance and she was in the back of the car licking her rescuer.

Coco has just been spayed and is micro-chipped. She needs basic training, she definitely needs big dog experienced people as she can refuse to do what isn’t appealing to her at the moment, its to get in the car. She is also big 26″ to the shoulder and we think she is more or less adult size. She is exceptional with dogs of all ages and sizes at this age her only fault is she propositions to play, by a large paw on their shoulder but will take ‘no’ for an answer..well…she has to being fostered with 9 other dogs!

Coco is LUVVLY! Beautiful eyes to match her face. The German Shepherd is the first impression..but knowing the Rottweiler parent you see it in her stature; paws, head and the look she gives you with her wonderful eyes.

Elgar - 6-7 month old male Collie Cross

Elgar is a beautiful, medium sized male Collie cross aged 6-7 months old who was found stray in Wales. We took him into kennels until a foster place came up. He is now living with 2 other dogs happily and beginning to learn about life. Elgar has already learned all his basic commands. He is getting used to formal walks and can be barky on meeting and seeing new ‘friends’ but soon settles. Elgar enjoys the car. He is neutered; vaccinated and chipped.

He would benefit from a family who are willing to offer him guidance and put time into him so he gains confidence and develops more skills. He is currently fostered in Surrey. For further details, please contact Dee at Rescue Remedies by emailing Dee@Rescueremedies.co.uk.

Tina - 4 year old female Rough Collie

Tina is a female Rough Collie about 4 years old, she was found stray and unclaimed. She is magnificent and affectionate. She gets on with other dogs but a little aloof. She seems to tolearate cats well. Tina walks beautifully on the lead and enjoys her walks. She likes the car and seems very ameniable by nature.

Where she has concerns she will curl her lip slightly just as a gesture but no mal-intent behind it. She tolerated a 2 1/2 hour grooming session really well and seemed to enjoy the process and certainly the outcome.

Tina was spayed and chipped this week and has been deflead. She eats well and in good condition health wise. She enjoys her food and comes over for head strokes and affection. Undemanding, she is a sweet sweet soul. She is currently fostered in Surrey.

Pippin - 7 month old male Fell Terrier

Pippin is a 7 month male Fell terrier pup who came into rescue for being a Terrier pup! He is full of life and has great fun but is now settling in his own company and mainly chewing appropriately.

He is nervous on first meetings and can bark until he gains his confidence but now needs his family to be able to gain training and further confidence. There are hints he was being left for long periods as a pup. He is learning to relax with dogs inside and outside - it’s play play play.

Pippin is highly trainable. Pippin has been neutered, vaccinated and micro-chipped. If you are looking for a Terrier pup who can benefit from your experience and guidance to ‘come true’ Pippin is a great candidate.

She is living with cats but too interested - though voice control is enough. She loves a cuddle and your lap. Generally a lovely lovely dog who could live as an only dog or in with others.

Meggie in newly spayed and vaccinated, she is also micro-chipped. She is a dear, dear dog who captures everyone’s heart. If you are looking for a sweet people dog who is good with dogs and children - Meggie could be your girl!

Max - 4 year old male Jack Russell Terrier

Max is a 4 year old Jack Russell Terrier male with va-va-voom! He came into rescue in Ireland and has obviously lived outside and spent the day occupying himself with toys and a tennis ball. He is however doing very well now living inside and housetraining is, to all intents and purposes, there. He has gone from being a little remote to shadowing his fosterers around the house.

He is a little food possessive…ever hungry…but this will, in time, lose it’s significance. He is great on and off the lead; friendly with other dogs and occasionally plays. He could be an only dog or in with another. Max isn’t to happy visiting vets and needs to live an adult family as he has nipped when pulled by his collar once and when woken up in his bed.

Max loves nothing more than to cuddle up while you relax. He is fine in the car and up for whatever is happening within the household. He doesn’t chew and has Jack appeal! He is neutered, vaccinated and micro-chipped. In good health. Fostered in Chessington. If you are looking for a Jack Russell Terrier, Max could be the right dog for you.

Minxie - 4 year old female Patterdale Terrier

Minxie the Minx! Dear dear little Minxie she is a 4 years old Patterdale Terrier and like a toy dog in size, for example, a Manchester Terrier (in fact came from Liverpool!) A sad story - has always been loved but offered so little. Minxie’s owner had to go into a mental hospital. Her mental health nurse phoned to say there were 3 little Patterdale Terriers unspayed; unvaccinated etc. due to be put to sleep - could we give them a chance.

Minxie’s sisters were homed but Minxie came into season so everything was delayed for her. She is such a treasure but feels very vunerable on a lead outside defensive with dogs. However she is fine with joggers, children,  cars the lot - just dogs. She also is an escapologist so needs 6′ fencing without helpful stepping stones or fox holes to aid her ‘grand plan’. She is more or less housetrained but may scent mark within a new situation or where there have been other animals.

Minxie is very loving and learned to accept and feel comfortable in a new pack. She was homed for 1 month but sadly despite clearly stating she was reactive to dogs outside she failed her home for that reason. So Minxie the little titch needs a special home with a very secure garden; acceptance mis-demeanors in her housetraining initally and aware she needs to be an only pet and possibly not walked or walked in dog sparse areas. Tall order perhaps, all I can say she is worth it.

She loves her cuddles and adores hide bones,  following you about and being spoken to. She is very people friendly. She is spayed, vaccinated and micro-chipped, wormed and flead. Minxie has been with us for a year - can you can offer little Minxie a secure future?

Poppy - 7 month old female Fell Terrier

Poppy is a little flower Terrier, well Fell Terrier actually. She is 7 months old and bought together with her litter sister - definitely not advisable but money is money! When they became too much the breeder took her back, then her owners saw her advertised in a free-ad starring out of a photo; a sad little mite peering out of a crate. They insisted she came back but the sisters started to turn rough play into fighting and so were kept separated until a rescue place could be found.

Poppy has been proving herself to be such a dear but a “full on” Terrier pup, she is catching up for lost time. We have spayed her pre-season, she is fully vaccinated and micro-chipped. Poppy is much sweeter than these picture show, she is petite in her proportions and developing a little whispery beard. She needs a family who are keen, Terrier experienced, willing to offer her the training she needs.

She is learning about lead work and gaining socialisation outside but this is key for her as she needs to build trust. She is recommended to be an only dog with no dog visitors so that she can develop the sense of safety in her on family. Oh Poppy - you have such people appeal! She is currently being fostered in Kingston upon Thames.
