Scooby – 18 month old male Jack Russell Terrier

Homing Requirements: Scooby is a terrier in the making so needs a confident family to guide him through his nerves. A quiet family in a low dog density area again for him to develop confidence and not to feel over whelmed. A training class would help once settled. A non-confrontational approach with enticement, distraction and lots of positive encouragement. Only pet status and no live in or stay over children until he settles.

His Story: Scooby grew up in a young family, dearly loved but Scooby found the young child ‘frightening’ and started to developed strategies for protecting his space. He is a sensitive lad who needs to take lead from confident supportive owners. Neutered, chipped and vax’d. In boarding kennels near Gatwick

Advert: Scooby is just 18 months old and has a lot of play within him still. He however has a serious side, which is his way of trying to cope within a demanding regime. Scooby needs a gentle confident approach so he can develop further coping skills, his ‘edginess’ needs to be massaged away and his confidence developed as he builds trust.

Scooby is a solid black and white Jack Russell, with a marked over shot jaw which adds charm. He has a hop and a skip; and so needs lots of fun in his life to keep him laughing. Scooby is extremely affectionate and although he needs respect when his nerves come into play, he can be easily be chivvied out into happier times and more interesting tasks.

Arnie – 1 year old male Jack Russell Terrier

Homing Requirements: Arnie’s family will be doggie people who know how to engender trust in a terrier. Arnie needs a secure terrier-proof garden and strict exit management around doors, windows and gates: All family on board to ensure this. Arnie isn’t an escapologist, its just that he is easily spooked and hasn’t the trust to surrender himself to his finder. Arnie needs to live with other dog(s). Arnie needs a secure management strategy to retain him on leads, so he can’t shruggle free and run scared.

His Story: Arnie was handed in to a large rescue centre by a member of the public who found him stray. Witnessed to be nervous of people but wins trust fairly soon, as is his wish. He enjoys the company of dogs. Neutered, chipped and vax’d. Currently in boarding kennels near Gatwick.

Advert: Arnie is sensitive by nature and seems to need time to trust but once he does he is a true friend. He needs a trust-centered approach which doesn’t threaten but engenders positive feelings. Arnie is wary, instinctively nervous of initial meetings with people. Unsure of Arnie’s history, but absolutely sure he is young and has great potential to settle in as a fabulous family dog.

Arnie is a small chocolate brown and white Jack Russell. Petite in features and sensitive in nature. Very loving within minutes of building trust. He will be a treasured terrier in the right hands. With a ‘stroke of luck’!

Miriam – 2 year old female Bull Mastiff

Homing Requirements: Miriam needs a family who have had a larger dog before so they understand the management involved. They will appreciate how great she is to manage. Miriam could live with children we feel but dog experienced children. We have to see the world from Miriam’s perspective and we need to offer her stability, not an experiment which could led to her home failing through owner inexperience.

Her Story: Miriam was found stray. She obviously has had puppies at some point in her career! We were delighted to help Miriam in her hour of need and she is now in boarding kennels near Gatwick.

Advert: Miriam is a Miracle! She delights everyone who meets her and her calm disposition means people come out of their way to meet and greet her. She is in ‘rescue’ currently so in a home she will no doubt be enabled to let her ‘fur’ down, as she has a sense of play. She is positive and we have not encountered any aggressive tendency with her; she meets dogs well. To meet her is to love and appreciate for her depth and serenity. She is almost human in presence travelling in the car!

Miriam is a Bull Mastiff who is dark chocolate brindle in colour. She has a soft coat with a loose coat which folds about her head and shoulders. She is very sensory; she “looks and sees”, she “smells and tells” she may mark her territory on her walk and mimics a massive lioness, but she prowls without malice.

Please visit Miriam’s thread on our forum: http://rescueremedies.myfastforum.org/sutra81235.php#81235 to find out more and follow her progress.

Geoffrey and Tony – 2 year old male Staffordshire Bull Terrier

Homing Requirements: Geoffrey and Tony have harmony and will make wonderful pets. They need a family with patience to put the training and house rules in with kindness and preparedness for them to make a few mistakes as they settle. Time placed in them will pay dividends 100 fold!

Their Story: Geoffrey and Tony were found stray and micro-chipped. They are around 2-3 years old. Their owners hadn’t noticed they were gone and didn’t seem too interested in having them back. The dog warden went all out to find rescue places for them and was delighted when we said we would keep them together. Neutered, going through vax. and already chipped. They are currently in boarding kennels near Gatwick and sharing a kennel.

Advert: Super pair! These 2 brothers are joined at the hip; they have synergy and care for each other. They have only really had each other as their owners weren’t that bothered about them. They need to be introduced to a caring and exciting lifestyle. They would suit someone working from home who wants to break off and go for a stroll; newly retired or shift workers where they are left for short periods, they have each other to keep company. Both travel well in the car providing they are together.

Geoffrey is the smaller brother, a darker brown/brindle and smaller white chest. He is underweight and his fur is currently scurfy. He has a feint white badger strip down his forehead. Tony is the bigger of the lads. He is has a bold white chest which goes through to his collar/mane. He has a white badger strip down his forehead. He has a lighter brindle coat than his brother. He is in good condition and a good weight. So many people get one dog and come back thinking they would like to have/help another. Helping these 2 brothers out can help everyone all at once!

Please visit Geoffrey & Tony’s threads on our forum: http://rescueremedies.myfastforum.org/sutra82862.php#82862 & http://rescueremedies.myfastforum.org/sutra82860.php#82860 to find out more and follow their progress.

Bella and Coco – 3 and 1 year old Staffordshire Bull Terriers

Homing Requirements: Bella and Coco ideally should remain as a pair but need a family who have managed bull breeds or at least 2 dogs before to give them deserved stability. They need a secure garden and exit management. We would prefer for them not to be crated; they have the tee shirt on that one!

Their Story: Bella was owned by a young man from a puppy; he introduced Coco to her in Dec 10 when she was 3 years old. They have had a good relationship together. However they spent a lot of time crated together and upon moving they began to get out of a poorly fenced garden. The girlfriend now pregnant, didn’t want them back the second time the dog warden knocked on the door, the owner was heart broken to see them go into rescue. We neutered them both and they are currently in emergency boarding kennels.

Advert: Bella is a sweet girl who went from being an only fluent dog to accepting and raising little Coco as if her own puppy and they are now are close friends. Bella could be rehomed in with another dog but ideally we would like to find her a confident home with her true friend Coco. They are on extender leads outside and meet dogs generally well providing their pack leader controls the tempo. Housetrained but could do with basic training as they haven’t had a family centred around their needs in this way.

Bella is a pied white Staffie with a truly devotional temperament, now aged 4 years. She is a good weight and the loving licky Staffie who will shine given a decent life with care, good food and a routine that meets her needs. Coco is Chocolate brown brindle. She is excitable but submissive. Coco seeks affection and gives affection in bucket loads. She would love to find a home with her dear friend Bella but we could be tempted to part this pair for the sake of them moving into a quality home where each are mixing with another accomplished dog. This pair is everything you could wish for, two sweet Staffies looking for their forever home.

Please visit Bella’s thread: http://rescueremedies.myfastforum.org/sutra80409.php#80409 & Coco’s thread: http://rescueremedies.myfastforum.org/about6407.html on our forum to find out more and follow their progress.

Alf – 4 year old male Parson Russell Terrier

Homing Requirements: Alf needs an active life to support his energy needs. He needs time to be gradually socialised with dogs outside to help him to become less intense on meeting. Can be left for periods. Adaptable to family circumstances and composition.

His Story: Alf had only himself for his first 4 years of life! Never been to the vet and lived in a town environment and was left during the working day in the garden and a kennel. He arrived into rescue as his owner had been made homeless and was living in her van. We are homing him for another rescue in Kent. Recently vax’d, chipped and neutered.

Advert: Alf is a great Jack Russell who is accomplished in many respects. No problems when left, house trained and played with visiting grandchildren aged 6 years plus. Enjoyed being bathed and groomed. Likes playing chase with balls – toys left on floor. Fine to take food and toys away from him. Not let off lead except in secure area as rarely comes back and will chase rabbits. Alf lived with a cat for 6 months with no problem. He could, with initial settling, live with a dog friendly cat again. With other dogs on lead he whines, gets over excited and humps. Friendly and very excited meeting people. Fine to travel and lived in van for a while. His owner left his food down all day and walked him once a day.

Alf is 4 years old and so very settled in his own skin. A great companion, who relishes company but also tolerates his own very well. He needs an active lifestyle to deploy his energy. Alf hasn’t lived with children but neither has he had any issues with them either fine with visiting grandchildren. Versatile!

Duke – 2 year old male Staffordshire Bull Terrier

Homing Requirements: Duke requires a stable family around him on which he can depend and learn their expectations and receive guidance. He may be able to live with another dog or possibly cats. He will probably, given time and training, be trusted off lead.

His Story: Duke came to us via the police so his owner may have gone inside and no friend or family were available to take him on. Duke is around 2 years old. Now neutered and under going vaccinations etc.

Advert: Duke is a clown in the best possible way. He was put on this earth to make you laugh but this is always followed up with care and affection. He needs a life style centered around his learning needs. Duke is a companion dog who will be great with children; may live with another dog or even a cat. He see it all and smiles.

Dexter – 2 year old male Cross-Breed

Homing Requirements: Dexter is the medium large crossbreed who needs to have a family centered on his needs, with some basic commands and boundaries in place and a lead walking regime. Dexter needs a sizable garden with 6′ panel fencing so he can enjoy games. Dexter would be great with older children or visiting younger providing ‘taps’ are kept on his exuberance. Super lad!

His Story: Dexter was originally found stray. He was homed for nearly a year but due to change of circumstances has come back on to our books. Dexter has just February before he returns to kennels if not homed in the meantime. Dexter is well known and loved by our rescue. Neutered, fully vax’d and chipped.

Promotional Video made by children at Greenoak School: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nf-ZVa39zWs

Advert: Dexter was the “puppy dog” desperate to find his way and has come through into adulthood. Dexter wants to run, have fun, play ball and enjoy loads of cuddles. He however also settled down well when left preferably with a window to watch awaiting his owners return. He travels well in the car. Dexter enjoyed training classes, settled to his own skin and is now less anxious about meeting and greeting other dogs. He has learned to tone down his enthusiasm but still needs to be retained on an extender. Yes you must be prepared to have a large dog perched on your lap!

Video: Dexter http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Zieml9Wm4g

Dexter has rich red coat and amber eyes. He wants to please and knows how to earn his treats! Dexter has been carefully managed by his current owner who will support his new homing to ensure the progress made goes from strength to strength. He is a brilliant “must have dog” with neighbours saying “whow you were lucky to find such an adoring dog” … and you’ll smile with pride as though butter wouldn’t melt!

Irish – 4 year old female Jack Russell Terrier cross Shih Tzu

Homing Requirements: Iris needs a terrier home who are happy to offer her the love and attention she so responds to. She is Jack Russell first and Shih Tzu second. Proven with young children. Care over her recall; off-lead only in safe areas and after settlement/bonding afterall she is a terrier!

Her Story: Iris was found stray in Wales in a dreadful state, needing emergency grooming and the shaving off of her coat. We took her in to kennels but she wasn’t well so she went into foster with small furries, cats and another dogs. She won through but her fosterer offered her skills in settling her with her many animals. Homed for 2 years as an only dog but due to a change in family circumstances she has come back to us.

Advert: Iris is the sparkle in our eyes! In her 4 years she hasn’t had the stability she should. She finds herself in boarding kennels for the second time, yet a sweeter dog you couldn’t wish to meet. She isn’t a ‘non dog’ but has lots of bounce and character. Her housetraining is fine with attention especially if it is raining outside! We suspect she started out in life in a flat or being left long periods hence her toilet training was fragile if left long periods or without free access to a garden. She loves toys and play. She meets dogs well and is keen on her lead but manageable. Proven with very young children.

Iris is such a pretty Jack Russell cross. She needs regular glooming and would love to be pampered. She needs a good quality diet with a regular routine to build her skills and support her settling. She could easily be at the heart of a family but needs a family with heart and for her to be the centre of their universe.

Please visit Iris’s thread on our forum: http://rescueremedies.myfastforum.org/ftopic2274-0.php to find out more about her and follow her progress.
