Lincoln – 5 year old male Greyhound
Lincoln is a 5 year old Greyhound boy who has been signed over for rehoming by his elderly owner who is not able bodied enough to look after him anymore. Lincoln is a much loved pet so it’s a very sad time for both concerned especially as he’s only been with his owner for 6 months who said he shouldn’t have got Lincoln but needed the company. Lincoln is neutered, microchipped and fully vaccinated. He is a fit healthy dog currently in foster care in Buxton, Derbyshire.
Update 18th June: Lincoln is now in a foster home with a family. He is quite a shy dog when it comes to new people but we hope he will gain some confidence now he’s in a family home.
Lincoln is simply stunning, he is a large boy! He is so typical of a Greyhound in that he is very docile yet cheeky. He is good with other dogs (but not trusted around small ones) and can live with another Greyhound or medium plus sized dogs. He can be rehomed with older children/teens although he’s never been around them, they would have to be calm and respectful. He cannot be rehomed with cats or small furries.
Lincoln is an ex-racing Greyhound and was originally taken in by a Greyhound rescue from the industry. He is retired and is quite happy to laze on the sofa all day so the new owner must be happy with this! He is not food or toy possessive; he is house trained and is great in the home. His most favourite treat is dog sausages! He is good on the lead but cannot be let off lead in public just in case he sees something in the distance. He needs a big garden so he can run around for his off lead exercise.
Contrary to common belief Greyhounds don’t need excessive amounts of exercise; they enjoy normal walks like any other breed and a good run. They love their home comforts, they need a raised stand for feeding, a greyhound collar, a coat for cold and wet weather and a big cushion type bed to spread out on if they don’t fancy the sofa!
It’s tragic that Lincoln is in this situation not long after settling into a home he thought would be his forever more. He is such an easy dog, we are sure he will be snapped up in time!
23May2011 | RSPCA Macclesfield South East Cheshire and Buxton | READ MOREJess – 8 year old female German Shepherd Dog
Jess is an 8 year old German Shepherd girl who has been signed over for rehoming because the owners were moving and couldn’t take her with them; we were given a matter of days to assist. Jess has started vaccinations, she is already microchipped and has been wormed and flead. She will be spayed in due course.
She is a fit healthy dog and the vet gave her a glowing report on her teeth! Through no fault of her own she has been moved from pillar to post since being from a rescue originally, reason being owners moving to properties where they can’t have dogs. Poor Jess just needs stability, is that too much to ask?
This time we she will find her forever home! Jess is a beautiful black and tan long haired girl. She is everything you want in a dog; good with people, she’s well trained, house trained, good with dogs, she’s playful, she loves her walks and is good off lead.
Jess hasn’t been around children only teenagers so if she’s rehomed to a family it will have to be teenagers only. She would be better as the only dog as she loves all the attention, fussing and play. She likes to be left to eat in peace, don’t we all!
Jess has the typical traits of a German Shepherd; she is a very loyal and doting dog and that is all she wants in return. She should not be in kennels at her time of life.
Don’t let her age put you off; she’s a lively girl with plenty of energy and a very playful nature!
23May2011 | RSPCA Macclesfield South East Cheshire and Buxton | READ MORETyson – 1 1/2 year old male Staffordshire Bull Terrier
Tyson is a 1 1/2 year old Staffordshire Bull Terrier boy who was a much loved family pet but his owner signed him over for rehoming because he wasn’t good with the cats. Tyson is micro-chipped, castrated and vaccinated. Tyson has a lovely temperament; he is a typical Staffy who adores people. He has been brought up with a Staffy girl (as pictured with Tyson as a puppy) and he is good with other dogs.
Tyson will make a great family pet; he’s very energetic and everything is full steam ahead so a family home with older children would be great. He’s too strong and bouncy to be around toddlers, he could easily knock them over as he is so enthusiastic about everything!
He is house trained, travels well, is not food or toy possessive, he knows a few commands and he even enjoys being groomed especially on his belly and bottom! He is good on the lead albeit enthusiastic at first and his recall is good. Strangely it seems he doesn’t squeaky toys!
Tyson has been described as a big softy who loves attention and is quite comical and daft! He is very affectionate, cuddly and kissy. He has a real zest for life and will need a very active home, he is still quite puppy like. Tyson is very sad at being away from his family and was not coping well in the kennels so is now in a foster home.
11May2011 | RSPCA Macclesfield South East Cheshire and Buxton | READ MOREPrince – 7 year old male Staffordshire Bull Terrier
Prince is a 7 year old Staffordshire Bull Terrier boy who has been with us a long time through no fault of his own at all. The majority of the photos have been taken whilst in our care mainly in foster homes. Our volunteers feel so sorry for him as they know how adorable and so well behaved he is and can’t understand why he’s not been adopted yet so he’s had the odd break from the kennels with them so he can be showered with the love and attention he deserves! Prince is at his happiest when he is with people, he does not want to spend anymore time in kennels alone!
Prince was signed over to the RSPCA by the owner who was moving and couldn’t take Prince with her. He originally got him from a dogs home. Prince is neutered, micro-chipped and fully vaccinated. He is a fit and healthy dog. A gorgeous little dog all in all-just look at that face! We know how wonderful Prince is; it’s about time someone else found out! If you want a companion dog then Prince is for you, if you want a lap dog then Prince is it; yes he’s a heavy boy but he so enjoys a human lap to curl up on! If you want a dog to enjoy long walks with Prince is the one, if you want a dog to play with then he is perfect!
Prince is so friendly and ever so affectionate. He’s good with children having lived with a young boy; we would happily rehome him with children as he just loves attention and company. As can be seen by the videos Prince is very obedient and willing to please, he is a very clever dog. He loves to sit and give his paw and sometimes both for a tasty treat! He knows various commands, he is house trained, he’s excellent in the car and he can be left for a few hours. He is not destructive or food possessive.
Prince is energetic and loves his walks and chasing his fave toys: tennis and footballs! He loves to have bones and toys he can chew on. He is really good on the lead, he’s eager at first but soon relaxes, he’s very enjoyable to walk and his recall is good.
Overall he’s good with other dogs but like most dogs can be a bit picky from time to time but he’s not aggressive, he just isn’t interested at times and would rather enjoy his walk in peace. He needs to be the only pet in the home and he is not good with cats.
Perhaps you’ve had Staffies before, if not then take a look at the following link and perhaps you’ll be tempted as they make wonderful and loyal family pets: or have a look at the Staffies and their stories on our Happy Endings Page.
19Apr2011 | RSPCA Macclesfield South East Cheshire and Buxton | READ MOREMax – 6-8 year old male Patterdale Terrier
Max is a 6-8 year old Patterdale Terrier who is currently in foster care in Bollington, Cheshire. He originally came in via the Inspector Sept 10 with severe infections in both ears, it had been left untreated which meant he had suffered. He was given a course of treatments and had his ears flushed out which cleared the infection. His ears are almost closed up with dense healed scar tissue but is not a problem for him. It also came to light that he was regularly beaten by the owner’s partner.
Unfortunately Max also got out of his foster home (before he was rehomed) and went missing for a few hours, luckily a lady found him in her garden but he was badly injured. He had to have a pin inserted into his hip as it kept dislocating, this has since been removed and he’s using his leg wonderfully!
Max is neutered, micro-chipped and fully vaccinated. All that was last year before he found a home with a lovely couple but sadly he has come back after 6 weeks due to a behavioural issue that was not there previously, he is back with his original fosterer and we’ll be assessing him further, more information will be provided by the rehoming coordinator. We believe he was unhappy and couldn’t settle in that particular home so we feel Max needs a one on one home similar to his foster home.
Max really has had a run of bad luck in his life yet he has the most wonderful and endearing nature. He is adorable with bags of character. He is good with dogs (he has lived with one in his previous home) but did have issues with some in his new home but this was worked on and he improved-again being unsettled affected him as he was fine when he was in our care.
He is house-trained but he doesn’t always travel well as he can be sick. He was never toy or food possessive; although he doesn’t know how to drop he will let you take his ball to throw it for him; in the new home recently he did become possessive over his toys which again wasn’t an issue before. Max needs a secure garden and he can open doors if he puts his mind to it! He has suffered with separation anxiety which again is to be expected after all he has been through, should it resurface in any new home the owner needs to work on this, for this reason we need someone who is around most of the time.
Max would be better with one person but you do need to be very experienced with rescue dogs, we would consider an older couple, perhaps you’re retired, he needs understanding and someone who will help him be happy in a new home, if it’s the right home he will be!
8Feb2011 | RSPCA Macclesfield South East Cheshire and Buxton | READ MORESasha – 6 year old female American Bulldog
Sasha is a 6 year old American Bulldog girl who is looking for a new home and currently in foster care in Mowcop, Staffordshire. Sasha was originally signed over to the RSPCA for rehoming as her owner was travelling a lot so this meant she was either on her own all day in her crate (which she hates!) and/or in kennels at weekends. Sasha’s owner has had her since she was 6 weeks old, she was a much cherished pet but his personal life took priority.
Sasha has now gone into a foster home as it’s about time she was out of the kennels to enjoy some home comforts and lots of walks and attention.
Sasha is neutered, fully vaccinated and micro-chipped; she is a fit and healthy dog, she can get the occasional ear problem but drops normally sort that out. Please do not let how long she’s been with us put you off, it’s through no fault of hers, we just haven’t found her the right home yet or should we say that special person hasn’t found her yet.
Sasha has the most wonderful nature and is so very friendly; she just loves people. She is really good with other dogs and likes to play; she can be quite bouncy and excitable but does know when to stop, she’s a big dog so gets tired fast!
She knows many commands and has been well trained and socialised. She is strong on the lead to start with but soon calms down after a couple of minutes. Her recall is good but not when there is a distraction, she’s easily bribed with sticks though!

She loves cheese and sticks! The only thing she doesn’t like is the Hoover! She likes to play fetch and she’s really proud when you make a fuss of her doing so! She’s had some washes at the kennels as she does like to roll and she loves the attention! We just cannot fault this beautiful lady!
We did find her a home but she was returned after several weeks. She just wasn’t happy, perhaps it was the wrong home for her as it was not what she was used to and she became fearful-she would cower and hit the ground at various things and would sometimes hide. She needs a child free home as she’s not been brought up with children. She cannot be rehomed with cats or small furries.
Overall she is a gorgeous dog. She just needs someone who is experienced with the breed or similar and rescue dogs, someone kind and understanding who will give Sasha time to adjust to a new life.
All she wants is some company, walks and above all love, reassurance and stability. Anyone who meets this girl will fall head over heels as all those who know her already has big time!
2Jan2011 | RSPCA Macclesfield South East Cheshire and Buxton | READ MOREBuster – 2-3 year old male Staffordshire Bull Terrier Cross
Buster is a 2-3 year old Staffordshire Bull Terrier cross who has been signed over for rehoming by his elderly owner who cannot cope with such a young dog, she adores him but is going into hospital soon and feels the future is uncertain due to having cancer so it’s in Buster’s interest that he finds a new owner. Buster is originally from a dogs home and his owner has had him 10 months.
[youtube:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WbHUhaSgOLg&autoplay=0 400 400]
Buster is fully vaccinated, micro-chipped and neutered, he is a fit and healthy dog; he has an old injury; the vet suspects he’s been kicked in the past, one of his ribs has been broken and has healed naturally.
Buster is so cute, just look at that face and those big ears of his! He is small and of slight build. He enjoys cuddles and is very affectionate. Buster is good with children; he enjoys their attention very much. He absolutely loves his toys, especially balls and tug ropes. He loves all manner of treats and enjoys chewing on rawhide. He also likes being brushed, doesn’t mind a bath, he is house trained and is just very playful and fun to be around.
He is good with dogs but he does lack manners with some; more so the ones he doesn’t know. He is walked with a few dogs that’s he’s been introduced to properly; it seems he’s insecure and can be a bit of a handful on the lead, certainly too much for a weak elderly lady. Buster is not toy or food possessive and he knows basic commands. He needs a secure garden as he can jump 4ft fencing. He needs an experienced owner as he needs a little lead training; he hasn’t been let off as his owner lacks confidence.
[youtube:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B1YghbLPHy8&autoplay=0 400 400]
When the dog rehoming coordinator visited Buster he had her wrapped round his little paw-he just loves to sit with you, give you his paw and be fussed till the cows come home-he is so huggable!
This aside Buster needs a family who will give him a secure and stable future, he will suit any household but he is very young, active and full of energy so will need plenty of exercise. He needs to be the only pet. After not being off lead even in the garden for almost a year he relished the paddock at the kennels as the videos show! If you think he’s the dog for you please get in touch!
2Jan2011 | RSPCA Macclesfield South East Cheshire and Buxton | READ MOREEvie – 2-3 year old female Labrador Cross
Evie is a 2-3 year old female black Labrador cross who is currently being fostered in Wilmslow, Cheshire. Evie was transferred from Wirral RSPCA as she was not coping with kennel life! Before coming to the RSPCA via the Inspectors she lived a very sheltered life; spending the majority of her young life in a cage. Evie is fully vaccinated, wormed, flead, microchipped and spayed. Unfortunately a week ago Evie had to have a third of her tail amputated as it just wasn’t healing, it had become infected and the tip had basically died. So far she has left her tail alone and she’s due to have a check up and stitches out in the next few days. Even though she is fostered with a cat she has no manners (so the cats say!), so if she were to rehomed with a cat it would need to be very confident and used to dogs.
Evie is a very friendly girl who is really affectionate, very excitable and can be boisterous. With this in mind she will need owners with an active lifestyle. Evie will benefit from a family home with children to play with. She is too bouncy and excitable to be around toddlers.
Evie is very strong on the lead and can pull, her fosterer has worked this and she has improved, however when she has visitors and they walk her she forgets everything she’s learnt cos she’s too excited! She needs someone who is willing to lead train her.

Evie is house trained and she travels well. She is strong on the lead but over time with kind training this should improve. She has never lived with cats but she met Wirral RSPCA’s resident cat that she chased but got a bop on the nose which deterred her! She is being fostered with a cat so fingers crossed! We’ve been advised she lunges towards other dogs and can be aggressive to some if they are in her face, however so far she’s met a few dogs since being in the foster home and has been fine but this will be monitored.

With some patient re-training and an understanding loving owner Evie will make an excellent pet and a very loving companion. Obedience training classes recommended. We will update Evie’s profile with progress from her fosterers.
Hazel – 5 year old female Greyhound
Hazel is a 5 year old + Greyhound girl who has been signed over for rehoming by the owner due to personal problems. The owner was given a matter of days by Social Services to rehome 2 out of 3 dogs. The lady only had Hazel for 2 weeks from a stranger who said the owner didn’t want her anymore. Another dog was taken in by another rescue. We have no history on Hazel other than she’s the sweetest and most gentlest of dogs!
[youtube:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jiMLTcLL0-w&autoplay=0 400 400]
Hazel’s teeth were in a terrible state; she had suffered for some time, sadly she had to have all teeth removed and her recovery was touch and go, she had several operations to stop the bleeding and was put on a drip but thankfully she pulled through and her gums are almost healed! She has been wormed, flead, microchipped and vaccinated. We do not know if she’s spayed but will cover the cost of neutering at a later date.
Hazel-what can we say, she is absolutely beautiful, not just in looks but in nature too. In the two weeks this lady had her she has been bombarded with children of all ages, she has lived with 2 other dogs and a very bossy cat who she was scared of. Hazel is a very laid back, placid lady who probably likes a good run and play but due to the discomfort of her mouth she had been very low but now she’s happy and bouncy!
Like most Greyhounds she loves human beds and sofas! She is very obedient and very friendly. She’s great on the lead and is not destructive, she is house trained and travels well. She likes to hide toys in her bedding! Hazel may have been used for racing in the past so she can not be let off lead for some time until her recall has been tested, some greyhounds can bolt if they see something small and furry in the distance!
Hazel will make someone a wonderful pet, she’s definately sweetness and light and deserves to find a forever home with someone who can provide for her every need and love her! She can be rehomed with another pet but not a boisterous bouncy dog, even a cat but this may need work.
Contrary to common belief Greyhounds don’t need excessive amounts of exercise; they enjoy normal walks like any other breed and a good run. They love their home comforts, they need a raised stand for feeding, a greyhound collar, a coat for cold and wet weather and a big cushion type bed to spread out on. Some Greyhounds don’t generally sit because of the design of their bodies.
2Jan2011 | RSPCA Macclesfield South East Cheshire and Buxton | READ MOREAlfie – 10-12 week old Staffordshire Bull Terrier
Alfie is a 10-12 week old Staffordshire Bull Terrier boy who is being fostered in Manchester. He was found wandering the streets New Years Eve by a kind member of public who took him to a safe haven. He is being fostered with children, dogs and a cat; a lovely family who is known to our branch took this pup in and contacted us for help. Sadly this poor pup has had a really bad start to life; he has cigarette burns on his head. Every day we are reminded how cruel people can be, we dread to imagine what Alfie went through but at least now he is in safe hands and he has a life full of love and joy to look forward to!

Alfie will be visiting the vets to be wormed, flead, microchipped and to start vaccinations. Alfie has special toes as the photo shows and he has flat front paws for which we’ll get more information on from the vet. When he is old enough we will cover the full cost of neutering which is mandatory.

What can we say about Alfie…he’s adorable, a typical pup full of affection and beans! Already just after one night he is learning to use puppy pads well. He will suit all households with or without children and can be rehomed with dogs, cats etc… Staffordshire Bull Terriers used to be known as the Nanny Dog, something that has been lost amid the un-necessary hype and mis-conceptions about the breed today. They make wonderful family pets and if socialised from the start are normally good with other animals. They are incredibly loyal to their family, full of fun; they have a zest for life! They are normally very lively energetic dogs that need lots of exercise and attention.

All existing pets ideally should be neutered and vaccinated. A puppy really is for life and is very demanding of time and attention; you cannot work full time and raise a puppy. They teeth for many months which mean they need to chew and need copious amounts of exercise, attention and kind reward based training. You must be 100% certain a puppy is right for you as they can be hard work! We advise anyone getting a puppy to attend puppy classes which are inexpensive, this will help train not only the puppy but the owner too!
