Bobby - 8 year old male Jack Russell Terrier

Bobby is an 8 year old male Jack Russell Terrier who is currently looking for a new home. He came in for rehoming with his friend, Heidi, who has since been rehomed, but he is still looking! Although not related, both had spent the whole of their lives in tiny kennels which were in a horrendous state through not being cleaned.

He was being poorly treated with total disregard for the dog himself. Apart from working excursions he was hardly exercised, He has been health checked, wormed/flead,neutered, micro-chipped,vaccinated, teeth cleaned and nails clipped. Bobby were on medicated shampoo for a couple of weeks due to having dry scaley skin.

Despite how he has lived his live we are looking for normal homes, given the right kind of experienced owner etc who is at home majority of the time, we are sure, can be house trained. He was forced to live in the dirty conditions by their previous owner doesn’t mean he can’t enjoy a cosy home where he have regular access to the garden and outside walks to help with his house-training.

He is affectionate and friendly full of character and intelligence, He would settle into a normal home environment very well given time, patience and understanding. He loves his walks immensely, and very good on the lead and travel well. Bobby will suit a toddler free home as he’s quite lively and bouncy but generally he’s fine around children.

He loves to interact with you, he is also affectionate, but especially likes a bit of rough and tumble and running after balls! Bobby is great with people, but he is not keen on male dogs. Due to his outgoing and inquisitive nature he must be kept on a flexi lead, he’s into everything!

Bobby is full of beans, he’s comical and so much fun! After his experiences he need’s some ‘home comforts’, lots of love and bags of exercise, you wouldn’t think he was 8! A rural home or one in a quiet area is probably the ideal.

Bobby went to an indoor fete for about 2 1/2 hours where we had a stall. He was centre of attention and loved every minute of it! He was absolutely brilliant with the children, and there were a lot of them including some naughty ones! The new pics show him with some children, enjoying some belly rubs, he was in his element and enjoyed every minute of it.

He didn’t cock his leg once and every time we went outside that’s when he did his toilets including number 2’s. This is important because he’s not house trained yet he’s showing signs he’ll could easy to work with. We are very proud of Bobby who considering the sheltered life he’s led has proven he really is a wonderful dog.

Bobby was rehomed a few days ago but we’re sorry to say he’s come back today. We’ve established that he’s the kind of dog that needs to bond with any new owner before he’s rehomed with them, we feel he can’t settle very well unless he knows you. Because of his anxiousness and insecurity he was a bit naughty and bit one of the owners, this is completely and utterly out of character, he only came up for a fuss and to say hello but was pushed away, he then growled and the new owner gestured with his hands out of surprise and Bobby bit his hand, we think he thought he was going to be hit.

We feel Bobby needed some reassurance and affection at that time and felt rejected when he was pushed away, it’s a real shame because he was in a new home with new people who he didn’t know so it was the worst thing for anyone to do with a rescue dog they’d only had a couple of days.

Bobby has never ever snapped or bitten in the 5 months he’s been with us, he’s met many people but he’s always been with his dog walkers or the Dog Rehoming Co-ordinator so he’s always felt happy and secure and we think this is why. Bobby needs an experienced Jack Russell Terrier owner who can spend time with him and slowly let him settle into the home, visiting him at the kennels regularly to walk him etc.

He hardly messed in the home which is fantastic and he loved being the house so much he didn’t want to go into the garden, he loved his walks too! He just needs an owner that he gain trust with so are you out there?

Nelly - 5-6 year old male German Shepherd Cross

Nelly is a 5-6 year old German Shepherd cross male, he is a dog much loved by his previous owner but who kept him shut away for extensive periods because of tenancy issues over ‘no animals’. The RSPCA stepped in and Nelly has come to the branch.

He was recently rehomed but once there, he demonstrated that his past is not fully known to us - clearly he had had a bad experience with a male human. He now needs a new home and is currently in a foster home while he patiently waits for his new forever home.

Certain men passing him with an object/tool in their hands cause Nelly to cower or alternatively hackles to be raised. This needs orebearance by a new owner, something the people that recently took him on cannot offer with their lifestyle, as much as they wish they could. They love Nelly very much and will happily talk to any new owner about their experiences with him.

He has been given a clean bill of health, has been treated against worms and fleas, vaccinated, neutered and micro-chipped.

You need to a flashplayer enabled browser to view this YouTube video

Nelly is very well trained, very obedient - great recall - very gentle and loving with children, however we think he should be homed in a quiet environment, it’s a shame because he’s a real family dog.

But for his sake he needs to be with an experienced large dog owner, a rural home would be ideal where someone is at home, perhaps a retired couple or older experienced couple who work from home or part-time and have that forebearance and understanding and respect of dogs that have mal-treatment issues.

rspcamacc_nelly.jpg

Nellie has been in his foster home for a month, he is wonderful, he has shown no issues whatsoever that he showed in the home he came back from, just goes to show in the right home, i.e. quiet and calm with not a lot going on how a dog like Nellie can settle and be happy.

rspcamacc_nellie.jpg

He’s very obedient as always, his recall is excellent, apart from when he sees a sheep but we’re working on that! He’s great with other dogs, he socialises off lead with them at training classes too, not that he needs them but Nellie loves it. He has come across various men in different houses/situations with no problems at all. He greets people who come to the door in the correct way too!

He’s not shown any issues over his food, he loves his food and relishes meal times which is great. He did sneakily chew a hole in the pocket of a jacket while he was alone to get at the treats lol!

He’s not allowed on the sofa, he has sneaked up a couple of times and has been told to get off which he does, on a couple of occasions his fosterer has returned and Nel has given her ‘that guilty look’, she’s felt the sofa and it’s been warm…a clever dog who hears the key in the door and removes himself promptly!

We are very pleased with his progress indeed and realise that all he needs is a quiet home in the country. He brings so much joy and is a dream to have around. We are very proud of Nellie!

Frederick Rumpole

Frederick Rumpole (also known as ‘Freddie’) is a 6 year old male Bassett Hound, who came in to branch care to overcome issues of animal welfare that were developing once his current owners’ personal circumstances altered and the dog had to be left unattended for unacceptablely long periods.

rspcamacc_frederickrumpole.jpg

He has been health checked, treated for worms and fleas, vaccinated and had his claws clipped. He weighs 26kg and is micro-chipped. He has not lived with either cats or dogs but has socialised with other dogs - no problems there - and got on well with the next door cat. He is very good with children having spent much time with his past owner’s grandchildren. He enjoys playing and readily participates in games.

Placid but obedient (occasionally pretends he hasn’t heard an order or is too lazy to act - the breed is known for this attitude), Freddie just loves his bed, squeeky toys, tit-bits and teasing during play. Likes his own bed in his owner’s bedroom. Strong on the lead.

Freddie loves people, so he does need a home where he is fully part of the family, Basset Hounds need to feel that, so new owners who are working from home or a retired couple may be best. By the way, he has never been allowed on furniture but does expect the run of the house.

Bart

Bart is a 3 year old small-medium sized Terrier cross male who weighs 15.7 kg. Bart has received a health check, flead and wormed and 1st Vaccination. He is already micro-chipped. He is in great shape, thankfully not neglected like the others including the Dobermann.

rspcamacc_bart.jpg

He has come from a home where the animals were badly neglected, some snakes and lizards emaciated and very ill, the Inspector also found that one of the snakes was dead. There will be a prosecution but luckily Bart and his Doberman friend are out of harms way. All animals have been removed and taken to safety.

He is overwhelmed with kennel life, he needed lots of reassurance when I went to see him today, so we need to get him into a nice home asap. We hope to get him into a foster home this week, if the resident dog is accepting of him and he’s okay with the cats!

The Inspector said he was rarely walked but is okay on the lead considering, just needs to get used to it, he is a really friendly and bubbly dog, he has a fantastic temperament and the Inspector says he travels well, he has lived with young children (under two years) and is very good with them.

He has also lived with cats, dogs, parrots and lizards (!) and is fine with all of them. He’s house-trained and seems to know some basic commands. A good all rounder who will provide a lot of fun and joy for his new owner without a doubt.

Biff

Biff is is 6-7 year old Collie cross who was one of two dogs kept in an unsuitable environment where the RSPCA had to be called in and the animals either seized or signed over to the society. Ollie was signed over first and after some pressure, Biff has followed. He is a great looking animal!

rspcamacc_biff.jpg

His health check revealed a small hairless patch which has been treated and a fatty lump which was removed. He is neutered, wormed and treated against fleas, micro-chipped, fully vaccinated and now has a clean bill of health. He is very clean in the house, no messing at all, which considering they way he was kept, has surprised us all.

Biff is very intelligent and loves playing, bringing toys to interact with anyone who will play, even in the house. He needs someone who is at home a lot and who has time for him, perhaps an active retired couple or someone who works from home and is there a good part of the day.

He is very good with cats. He is very obedient and a well trained, wonderful dog. If you are interested in Biff please contact us.

Tariq

Tariq is a black and brown brindle Bull Mastiff male aged 8 months old which has come in to RSPCA care over Animal Welfare Act issues. Vaccinated, wormed and treated against fleas, Tariq will be neutered and micro-chipped shortly. He’s already quite big but is just a big loveable lump who needs to be in a home where he can be properly cared for, receive bags of execise and grow up enjoying life.

rspcamacc_tariq.jpg

He is good with cats and other dogs, he is scared of some smaller animals! He travels well in the car and is good on the lead, considering he’s been under-exercised, so much so that though curious about the outside world, he likes to stick close as his new exercise regime commences.

He enjoys his food, not to mention toys, and certainly a cuddle where it’s on offer. Left alone, he is not destructive. We have not assessed him with children but except for his size, he seems very much a softie with humans, regardless of size. We’ll update this panel very soon.

We want an experienced owner for him, used of large breeds and who can give him time and companionship. He is clean and toilet trained but has messed now and then when left alone for long periods. He is very scared of shouting, arguments and human aggression generally.

If you are interested in Tariq contact us today.

Ollie

Ollie is a young Terrier cross male looking for a new home. Ollie is one of two dogs kept in an unsuitable environment where the RSPCA had to be called in and the animals either seized or signed over to the society. The owner has elected to sign over Ollie and will, hopefully, do the same for the second animal to avoid legal action.

rspcamacc_ollie.jpg

On sign over Ollie weighed 17kg, the vet felt a minimum of 21kg is what should be expected for a young animal. Until he is ‘normal’ his age cannot be accurately determined. He is neutered, wormed and flea treated and has had a full health check. Yet to be microchipped.

He is not good with cats but seems to be great with dogs, people, and probably children as well since he enjoys being petted and even allowed his nails to be trimmed without any fuss, rolling over to see the rear legs were properly attended to. He’s very clever and very affectionate. He obeys virtually all commands, goes down when told to, sits, stays, waits, virtually the lot. He’s been very well trained and is obedient. Until the situation changed in his previous home he was clearly loved and cared for by his owner.

He has, because of recent treatment, not been out much so so his house training needs a little brushing up and there is a need to re-introduce lots of exercise. Hopefully, both will be quickly resolved with our volunteer fosterer.

Rosie

Meet Rosie, a 1 year 8 month old Staffordshire Bull Terrier cross female. In December 2006 Rosie was seized by inspectors, her condition almost beggaring belief! The legal process that followed ended with Rosie being signed over to the society. Vaccinated, spayed and micro-chipped, Rosie is small to medium in size - looks bigger in photographs.
rspcamacc_rosie2.JPG

After so long “behind bars” through no fault of her own, we have put Rosie with a branch volunteer fosterer. This dog has really had no life at all so far. With her fosterer she has discovered some many new things including meeting people, walking in the countryside and seeing farm animals, birds and other wildlife. She does not like small furries including cats and has varying views on different breeds of dogs.

This really means that Rosie must be the only pet in her new home. She used to need re-assuring but is so much more confident now, she still likes her cuddles though! She is intelligent, clean in the house and already learning new commands - she is obedient, Rosie needs periodic treatment for an allergy to a couple of species of weeds.

She loves any toy thrown for her, relishes lots of play and running around in the garden playing fetch, she loves any treat going and spends time gnawing on her rawhide or roasted beef bones.

Rosie is a very affectionate companion dog, she loves human company and sofas! She needs an experienced rescue dog home where someone is at home a lot of the time, a quiet but active home, perhaps an active retired couple, or someone who works from home, she can be too bouncy to be around toddlers. Are you that special someone to offer Rosie a chance, she’s been with us for a few months now, this is not what we want for Rosie, she really does need a forever home!

Lady

Lady is a female Rhodesian Ridgeback aged 4 years old who has been signed over to the branch in order that she can find living conditions more conducive to her size and quality of life needs. Not that her owner did not love and spoil her!

rspcamacc_lady.jpg

At 40kg Lady is about 5kg overweight (being sorted) and she has a slight ear infection (also being sorted) nevertheless, her condition is great. She is house trained and travels well in cars. Not good with cats and other small furries! Much better with squeeky toys, bones and other noisey toys, yet on that latter front she is scared of fireworks, thunder and people arguing or shouting.

We know she loves people, including her past owner, and so the sooner we can get her rehomed and centred on a new welcoming human face, the better. She’s so friendly, if not a little timid, but is going to make someone a really wonderful new companion.

Pulls strongly on the lead. Chases cats and other furries. Because she is a large dog, we think that any new home should only have teenage children and, ideally, a new owner who is Ridgeback or large dog savvy! By the way, she is very keen on sofas! We know she is unsettled at being in kennels, so hopefully we can foster or rehome her very soon

Tia and Misty

Tia and Misty are two female (sisters) Husky cross German Shepherds aged 7 years old who were taken under our care by inspectors having been abandoned by their owner and left out of doors in an unsuitable urine and faeces covered open area.

rspcamacc_tia_and_misty.jpg

We understand that when with their original owner both lived a more normal life and were around children without any problems. Nevertheless, as always with larger dogs, we feel any new home should have teenaged children at least. Both were house trained but after three months outside, they will probably need a ‘refresher course’ on the subject! Tia’s sister,

Misty, will chase anything that is furry and moves, so no cats in the new home then. Where she stands with other dogs, we will have to assess further along with other traits. Hopefully, we can have her in foster accommodation soon and build a fuller report. Certainly,of the two animals, Tia is slighty more German Shepherd than Misty, but both are really beautiful and nuzzle in to any human in their proximity seeking a pat and kind word.

Because of their period outside and lack of contact through walks, etc., any new owner is going to have some patience and understanding. Initially, we thought Tia did not get on with Misty and vice versa - we seem to be wrong. When separated for walks it is clear they miss each other. So ideally we think that Tia should be rehomed with her sister. A big order but given an experienced owner and lots of space….
