Rizla – 12 year old male Greyhound Cross

Rizla is a lovely 12 year old male brindle Greyhound cross who enjoys nothing more than to run around playing games and chasing things. He is very affectionate and is very enthusiastic about giving you his paw on command. Rizla would be best suited an only pet, but could be homed with another sight hound if well matched.

Due to his strong chase instinct typical of his breed he is not being home with cats or any other small furry animals. Rizla would best be suited to a home with no young children. Rizla can be left at home for 4 hours. Rizla is a very affectionate lad that enjoys fuss. He particularly enjoys having his ears stroked.

He is doing very well with training at the centre and is looking for a home where he will get lots of love and space for him to sprint around.

Binnie and Connor

The Blue Cross animal adoption centre in Burford is appealing for dog lovers to come forward to help life-long friends Binnie and Connor. They have been through a rough time and would love to find a special home together. Binnie is a 12 year old brindle and white medium sized cross-breed girl. She adores human company almost as much as she worships Connor. Connor is a 10 year old Boxer boy who still enjoys a game and a fuss. Both dogs are extremely affectionate and have been really brave.

The charity took in the pair after their owner became too ill to look after them. Sadly, both dogs were poorly too and have since received veterinary treatment for a cancerous condition. Both dogs are doing well after their surgery and are currently well and happy, but their illness may return.

The Blue Cross is looking to find a foster home to help the soulmates enjoy the time they have left. The Blue Cross foster care scheme means the charity will pay for any future veterinary treatment needed for their condition.

Nikki Smith, Blue Cross centre manager at Burford said: “We are desperate for this lovely pair of dogs to find a new home. They aren’t enjoying kennel life and really deserve to be looked after in a cosy home environment. They will make a great addition to the household with lots of love they still want to give.”

Anyone who is interested in sharing Connor and Binnie’s twilight years should contact The Blue Cross in Burford on 01993 822483 or visit the centre for more information at Shilton Road, Burford, Oxon OX18 4PF.

Tom

Tom is a handsome 3 year old male Greyhound who came to the centre from racing kennels – although he wasn’t quite fast enough to make it onto the track! He’s a very friendly lad with everyone he meets and loves having lots of fuss and attention.

thebluecross_tom.JPG

Contrary to popular belief greyhounds do not need loads of exercise, just two leadwalks a day and a chance to run off the lead in a safe enclosed garden. Tom is a lively character, he is very affectionate and will be a fun dog to own.

Tom will need owners who are around most of the time to gradually build him up to being left. He is social with other dogs but will need to be the only pet in his new home. He cannot be re-homed with or next door to cats but will happily live with children over 10 years old.

For further details regarding giving Tom a second chance and new home, please contact The Blue Cross animal adoption centre in Southampton on 023 8069 2894 or visit us at our Southampton centre: Bubb Lane, West End, Southampton SO20 2HL.

Sheba

Sheba is a 1 year old Rough Collie. She is a sensitive girl who takes time to trust her handler. Once she is confident, she is affectionate, bouncy and bubbly but remains fearful of new people and environments.

She is looking for a very stable rural home where ideally there is only two adults and not many comings and goings.

She would also benifit from living with another dog that is sociable and has a happy go lucky personality to help her cope in scarey situations.

Unfortunatly due to no previous history of living with children and her sensitive nature Sheba can not live with children and idealy there would be no visiting children to the home.

Sheba’s new owners need to have had experience of owning dogs before and knowledge of collie breeds would be a great advantage, an interest in training and some experience of dealing with nervous dogs would also be beneficial. She needs a very active home with owners that have time to meet both her physical and mental needs.

Sheba can not be left for long periods of time, 1-2 hours maximum in any one day.

Sheba will be a very rewarding companion and once settled will keep you entertained with her puppy like antics and playful nature.

To adopt Sheba please contact The Blue Cross in Tiverton on 01884 855 291 or email tiverton@bluecross.org.uk
