Max - 1 year old male Labrador cross German Shepherd

Max (ref no 93) is a 1 year old Labrador cross German Shepherd who came into the shelter in February when his owner could no longer afford to keep him. Max is a huge puppy with a bold streak and an enthusiasm for life. He never does anything by halves.

He can be over-protective of people and mouths very hard when he is being handled bodily or restrained. He has huge potential to be fabulous - he just needs the right guidance. Max is looking for an adult only home. He is good with dogs but cannot be rehomed with cats or rabbits. Experience of large protective dog required.

Dolly - 5 year old female English Bull Terrier cross Staffordshire Bull Terrier

Dolly (ref 98) is a 5 year old English Bull Terrier cross Staffordshire Bull Terrier who came into the shelter in February due to her owner’s ill health. Dolly is a real people friendly girl and rushes to greet everyone.

She is quite stubborn and independent so needs some security and leadership to help form a close bond. Dolly can become possessive when playing tug so its best avoided.  She is a lovely girl, she can be rehomed with children 8 years + and would be best as the only pet in the home.

Bobo - 5 year old male Jack Russell Terrier Cross

Bobo (ref no 106) is a 5 year old Jack Russell Terrier cross who came into the shelter in March following a change in family circumstances. Bobo is a great character and enjoys life. He is quite strong willed and adventurous and will need high, secure fencing to keep him safe.

Although Bobo has 3 legs he isn’t affected in any way and really enjoys fun and games.  He doesn’t like too much restraint.  He needs a calm home.  He can be rehomed with children 8 years + but would be best as the only pet in the home as he is not keen on other dogs and isn’t good with cats.

He will also have to learn how to be left on his own as he has a history of chewing. Terrier experience is recommended.

Floyd - 1 year old male American Bulldog Cross

Floyd (ref no 114) is a 1 year old American Bulldog cross who came into the shelter in March after a change in family circumstances. Floyd loves people and is very soft and affectionate.  He can be strong willed and will need a confident owner who can handle him.

Floyd will need consistency and kind, patient training; he doesn’t like other animals and will need to focus on his owner. He can be rehomed with children 10 years + but cannot be rehomed with other animals.

Larry - 6 year old male Yorkshire Terrier Cross

Larry (ref no 120) is a 6 year old Yorkshire Terrier cross who came into the shelter in March as a stray. Larry looks extremely cute but he is all terrier underneath. He has a huge character and will take liberties so needs rules and boundaries from day one.

Larry is independent and mischievous. He can get over-excited and rags his lead. He doesn’t like the paperboy! He can be rehomed with children 10 years +. He is good with dogs on walks. He would be fine to live with other female dogs but would be best in a home without cats.

Rufus - 4 year old male Lurcher

Rufus (ref no BDW 2) is a 4 year old male Lurcher who came into the shelter in March as a stray. Rufus is extremely sensitive and soulful and is looking for someone kind to understand him. He is quite reserved and aloof with strangers but scratch the surface and he is a dog with a heart of gold.

He needs a quiet but active life. He can be rehomed with children 8 years + but would prefer to be the only pet, he likes female dogs but can be a bit growly with other males. It is shelter policy not to rehome this breed with cats or small animals.

Tia - 1 year old female Rottweiler

Tia (ref no 84) is a 1 year old Rottweiler who came into the shelter in February following a domestic split. Tia is a very nice dog and needs a home with knowledgeable guard breed enthusiasts so she stays that way. She can become easily excited and mouths but responds very well to training and is bright and alert.

Tia needs a calm, active home and a definite leader. She can be rehomed with children 12 years +. She is good with dog but not cats. Breed experience strongly recommended.

Jake - 5 year old male Jack Russell Terrier Cross

Jake (ref no 72) is a 5 year old Jack Russell Terrier cross who came into the shelter in February when his owner could no longer cope. Jake has been passed around a lot and needs some stability and structure to his life.

He is active and friendly but can be easily bored and becomes noisy. He would enjoy an active life with people who will give him time to settle and will take things slowly. He can be rehomed with children 10 years + but would be best as the only pet in the home.

Boris - 6 year old male Cross-Breed

Boris (ref no NFDW 157) is a 6 year old cross-breed who came into the shelter as a stray in February. Boris can be extremely appealing and works well for food and toys. He is probably used to doing as he pleases and is very territorial and scent marks a lot.

We would recommend getting to know Boris well before over-handling him as he really doesn’t enjoy it. He needs rules from day one. His new home will have to have secure high fencing.

Popeye - 2 year old male Staffordshire Bull Terrier Cross

Popeye (ref no 50) is a 2 year old Staffordshire Bull Terrier cross male who came to the shelter in January 2008 as a result of a domestic split. Popeye is a lovely affectionate boy with a love of playing.  He can get easily excited and frustrated, especially around other dogs.

Popeye needs experienced handling and some additional training but has the potential to be a fabulous pet. He can be rehomed with children 8 years + and must be the only pet in the home, he is good with other female dogs but does not get on with other male dogs or cats. Staffordshire Bull Terrier experience recommended.
