Matt – 18 month old male Yorkshire Terrier

Matt is an 18 months Yorkshire Terrier with a huge personality, loads of energy, and tons of character. Only apply if you want your whole life to be dominated and bossed by this incredible little man. Do not underestimate him, he is a proper dog. He is quite vocal, barking to get his own way and to tell you off so a property without close neighbours is best to avoid complaints. Good sense of humour, ear defenders and ability to give loads of walks are all essential.

He would suit living with some big dogs who get a lot of walks in the country. Best life for him would be on a small holding. Matt is exceptionally loyal and affectionate, he is a proper pet, he loves cuddles and follows you around everywhere, he is brilliant off lead and doesn’t pull on lead. He has many incurable faults, you will either completely adore him because of them (like me) or hate him (like so many people in his past) Terrier-mad, experienced enthusiasts only.

Lacy – 9 month old female Jack Russell Terrier

Lacy is a Chestnut coloured 9 months old Jack Russell terrier cross puppy who needs a patient home due to past abuse, with experienced terrier owners. This dog is going to need a lot of off lead running with other kind dogs to improve her social skills as she can be anxious and snappy with new dogs due to not understanding how to interact with them so sometimes gets into scraps. She is being fostered with 6 dogs of all types and sizes so every day is learning more about how to interact in a group of dogs. She is only a baby and her house training is very variable so no workers please, she needs someone around most of the time to keep taking her out until she gets the message. She needs a lot of exercise and training and at the moment she barks when left alone partly because she is so disturbed and not in a secure routine as she has been passed through numerous homes.

Up until she came into our care, Lacey had never met a dog or been on a walk so the whole world is new to her and she has a lot to learn. She really would benefit from living with a calm, kind, big older dog who can give her confidence and show her how to behave in life. Good dog handlers needed with loads of patience. This is a really stunning pup who will make a fabulous pet in the right hands but could easily go wrong if not handled with positive reward based training. Bullying training must never be used with this dog it will ruin her. We recommend professional training. Rehome within 100 miles of West Yorkshire.

Cody – 9 month old male Labrador cross Collie

Cody is a super pup 9 months old from working stock. He is a very intelligent and active boy who is well made and stocky, with good conformation. Cody is a Labrador cross Collie cross Spaniel. He is extremely affectionate, kind and loyal, he follows you around like a shadow. He is a bouncy, boisterous chap who needs a lot of exercise. Cody is dog friendly with good dog social skills, he is slightly nervous when meeting new dogs but if they are kind and playful just wants to play. He has had no training but the foster is working hard to improve his general manners and obedience. He learns quickly but being a puppy cannot concentrate for long. Cody pulls hard on the lead but has good recall off lead. Cody could live with older children he is likely to be too boisterous for tiny tots as he is so pleased to see them he jumps up and is still “puppy mouthing” as he is teething.

Cody sleeps well at night and travels well in the car. He is crate trained so it is easy to establish a routine of walks and sleeps through the day. He doesn’t suffer from any anxiety about being left if he has another dog for company but hates being alone with no dog or human companionship. Cody has not had a good life he has never been loved he has been passed from pillar to post and now needs some stability. He is exceptionally intelligent and will be a super dog in the right hands and does not deserve mistreatment and neglect as he is such a loving boy and extremely handsome. We are looking for an active home with commitment to attending professional dog training classes where Cody will be given sympathetic, positive reward based training. He needs someone around most of the time and another companion dog to keep him company and play with him. Puppy experience is essential – puppies are hard work and need patience and commitment. Cody would make an exceptional agility or flyball dog if given the right training. Neutered, vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms, microchipped.

Amy – 3 year old female Border Collie

All you Border Collie lovers form an orderly queue for this beautiful girl, she is a really great dog who will excel in the right hands. Amy is a striking 3 years old Border Collie. She is very affectionate, a bit on the quiet side and slightly timid. She is nervous of other dogs and so needs careful introductions as she may snarl. She needs an understanding owner to build her confidence. Off lead Amy is much better with dogs as she can run around without feeling constrained by being on the lead, so that makes her a lot more relaxed. Amy is an exceptionally loving girl and will come for a cuddle but doesn’t like to be over-fussed. Amy enjoys playing fetch with a ball, it is a brilliant way to keep her well exercised and stimulated. She would make a super agility or flyball dog.

Border Collies need a huge amount of intellectual stimulation and exercise as they are so very intelligent. We are looking for someone with plenty of time to devote to Amy and give her the love she has had missing from her life. Border Collie experience is essential, she has many collie traits that an inexperienced collie owner would not understand and find difficult to deal with. Keera – 8 month old female Doberman Cross

Keera is an 8 months old cross Doberman (we were told her mother is a Doberman). Keera is a loving companion but is VERY nervous due to incorrect handling in her early months so she needs a lot of work on socialisation with dogs and people and basic training. She must be allowed to approach strangers in her own time and not have attention forced on her. At the moment Keera is doing some puppy mouthing due to teething and will sometimes nip in play if you are playing ball with her and she gets over excited. She loves routine and consistent handling and is a very calm dog, she only does mouthing when she gets over excited. We have found that if she can be allowed to play with other dogs and really run around she does a lot less mouthing. So we come to the conclusion it is based on exuberance and frustration not getting enough exercise, as a result the foster has her running off lead playing with other dogs 3 hours a day.

Keera is cat friendly. She is an exceptionally fast learner and has improved beyond recognition in her foster home. Her foster is training her to respond to hand signals only with no verbal cues and she is very good at this because she is so very attentive.. Keera pulls on the lead for the first part of the walk but once tired will settle nicely. Keera loves human company, she just wants to be with you, lie at your feet and go with you wherever you go. She travels well in the car so could be with you on your holidays in dog friendly accommodation.

Keera needs someone with a lot of time and exceptional patience, she needs to grow up in a calm confident environment where she will not be put under pressure and where she can be allowed to mature and gain confidence with another dog in the household. She will need a very confident and experienced dog handler well versed in reward based training techniques. We will only rehome her where someone is around most of the time so no workers please. We will only rehome her with another mature sensible dog who will play with her and teach her dog socialisation skills.

Keera is child friendly and has been fostered with children. However, as she is a boisterous pup we will not rehome her with children. She is not suitable for first time dog owners and we strongly recommend professional training..

Vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms, microchipped. She is just coming into season so cannot be neutered for 3 months, the new owners will have to sign a legal contract to get this done.

Shayley – 1 year old female Patterdale Terrier

Shayley is a sweet little smooth coat Patterdale terrier, she is an exceptional example of the breed. Patterdale terriers are known for their strong bond with their owners, intelligent, eager to please and affectionate. They have a strong prey drive so cannot be homed with small animals and they have a fearless and determined nature. They are highly energetic, are known for being tough and healthy and long lived. Patterdales need consistent handling by experienced dog owners,if they are not trained or given enough exercise they can behave badly, typically barking and escaping from the garden.

However in the right home they are supreme terriers and their good points make them loyal and loving pets. They have been known to do well at agility as they are highly intelligent and motivated, and have been seen at Crufts agility classes. Shayley had a very sad background. It is obvious she has suffered abuse and certainly has been attacked by a dog and has a permanent scar on her face giving her a quizzical look. This lovely dog has been passed around between homes prior to coming to our rescue so now desperately needs some stability and routine in her life and a patient, kind, loving owner who can manage her issues. Basically due to being attacked, Shayley is very worried meeting new dogs and may snap and bark as a first response until she gets to know them. Then she will play happily, loves tug of war with toys, and will run about chasing and playing for ages with dogs. She especially prefers bigger dogs. . However with an experienced confident handler she can form a happy relationship with a playful gentle non aggressive dog, she will play tug of war with a toy with the 8 months Dobermann pup at the foster home. In the house she is well behaved but will bark to let you know when someone arrives at the door or if there are any loud sounds outside. Shayley pulls at first on the lead but will settle, she is more confident if walked with another dog. Shayley will need a lot of play and exercise as she is a highly active intelligent dogs who needs a lot of mental stimulation. She thinks nothing of doing a 6 miles walk every day. She travels well in the car. Shayley is exceptionally loyal and loving and affectionate. She is nervous and feels the need to protect, but if no-one stops to talk to the handler she happily passes people without concern. She barks at people who come to the house until she knows them, a few treats and she settles down. We are looking for a calm, confident owner with a lot of time to devote to Shayley and who is prepared to take professional advice to manage the issue of her barking at people who stop to talk in the street and barking other dogs in the street – when she is on lead. We have noticed she is better behaved if she lives with a big playful dog to run about with and play and use up energy. Preference will be given to owners with another dog and plenty of time and near to good walking country. Shayley hates cats. Despite her issues, Shayley is one of the best terriers, and will bring her owner a lot of joy and love.

Delia – 3 month old female German Shepherd Cross

Delia is a cross bred puppy about 3 months old who will be very big when fully grown so will need a large house and garden. Because she is not fully house trained owners will need to be around most of the time to put her outside every hour. Puppies are cute but between 5-12 months go through a very boisterous stage where they do a lot of puppy mouthing and chewing fingers as they are teething. Therefore they are not suitable for young children as they pull at clothing and children can get very easily upset and frightened.

We are looking for experienced big dog owners, where someone is at home all day to house train the puppy. Experience of owning a puppy is desirable as they are such hard work. Another companion older dog would be valuable to make sure the puppy grows up with good manners. We strongly recommend owners to take the puppy to dog training classes. Vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms, microchipped. The owner will have to sign a legally binding contract to neuter her when she is old enough.

Oscar – 11 year old male German Shepherd cross Collie

Oscar is an 11 year old cross breed who needs a quiet, kind retirement home. Dear Oscar has loads of love to give. He is a jolly chap but needs the constant companionship of another dog or people as he gets miserable when alone. Oscar is a very affectionate and gentle dog who will stay by your side wherever you go. He is so pleased to see you when you come into the room, he makes such a big fuss wagging his tail and laughing happily.

His eyesight is no longer perfect but that doesn’t stop him enjoying life and he still plays ball and jumps up for a cuddle when you come into the room. His hearing is good. He loves short frequent walks but won’t need a lot of exercise and he walks nicely on the lead without pulling. He enjoys playing ball. He will run round the fields on a nice sunny day, following you around off lead. Oscar is dog and cat friendly. You will go a long way to find a more faithful friend. Vaccinated, bathed and groomed, treated for fleas and worms, microchipped. The vet has advised us not to neuter him.
