Cody – 5 year old male Dacshund cross Fox Terrier

Cody is a Fox Terrier cross Dacshund aged aproximately 5 years old. Sadly Cody has not had a good start to life and now needs a good forever home. He is a very handsome dog and is very loving with people, though he can be a bit nervous of men to start with. He loves cuddling up on your knee and going for walks and short jogs.

Cody - 5 year old male Dachshund cross Fox Terrier

Cody does not appear to have been socialised as a puppy and so does not have a good relationship with other dogs. As such he would need a home where the owners are experienced with dogs to help him overcome his fear/dislike of other dogs and would need to be the only pet. He is good with children and has taken nicely to a gentle leader, making him easy to walk. Cody needs a home where he will be the only pet and he will repay his owners 10 fold with love and affection! Can you offer this gorgeous chap the home he so rightly deserves?

Sara – 4 year old female German Shepherd Dog

Sara is a beautiful longcoat German Shepherd female aged 4 years old. She is spayed and vaccinated. Sara came in to rescue in a very sorry state, she was covered in matts but luckily these were able to be cut out – it was thought she may need to be completely shaved to make her more comfortable. She is a very pretty girl who is so loving and playful, she loves playing ball with children.

Sara cannot be homed with cats, but she can be homed with other dogs so long as she is fed seperately – she is food posessive. She will suit many homes, being happy to play until shes had enough or just to be a loving companion who will give the best of company. She loves going for walks and having a fuss.

Before applying to adopt Sara, please ensure you are prepared for the amount of grooming she will require – we don’t want to see this gorgeous girl matted again!

Misty – 2 year old female Terrier cross Collie

Misty is a neutered female of around 2 years old. She’s a tri-coloured cross-breed (likely makeup: Border Collie/Terrier/Whippet) who has come into rescue through no fault of her own after being found as a stray at around 5 months old, and then handed back after her owners seperated.

WARAS_Misty1

She will be fully vaccinated, is microchipped and free from worms, ticks or fleas. If you are interested in offering Misty a home, you must be prepared to travel to Northamptonshire to meet her.

WARAS_Misty2

Below is what Misty’s foster home have to say about her:

‘Misty is very wary of some new people and can take quite a while to be confident with them. She seems to be better in her own home and best with men who let her approach and say hello at her own pace.

She is currently in a foster home with 2 other dogs and while she gets along fine with the more confident, assertive dog she is bullying the other one. This has decreased alot in the home with careful training but is still definately evident particularly out on walks. However, she clearly gets alot out of having a doggie friend around and in the right hands could go to a home with an existing dog. Misty’s bullying behaviour stems from her own insecurity. She will body block, air snap and neck snap to try and prevent other dogs from getting attention and fuss from their owners.

She will also snap in the face of dogs she doesn’t know so at the moment she can only be let off-lead in secure area’s with dogs she knows well. However, her obedience off lead is good – she has a good recall and sit and will walk alongside you also – but I cannot stress enough that she will not be able to be let off around other dogs until her bullying is properly under control. On lead, she will walk to heel nicely but can be easily distracted, she will also ‘wait’ when you ask her to allow you to get through doors and get her out of the car boot. She travels like a dream but will need a crate or secure dog guard as if she can squirm and get to you – she will!

Indoors, she knows ‘away’ to stay clear while you are eating dinner and ‘leave it’ not to pick up my son’s toys etc … and is very good at learning. Misty is crate trained and house trained but cannot be left alone without building it up very slowly over a period of some weeks. She is living with a ‘dog friendly’ toddler in her foster home and has a number of good qualities with children in that she doesnt snatch food, and generally doesn’t steal toys (or gives them back when asked) but when the excitement builds she ‘forgets herself’ and goes into bullying mode and I think she could snap if it was not carefully managed.

Also, if Misty is ever to run free and be a social girl she needs a lot of love and attention from her owners, in addition to that she needs a stable home with a fairly consistant routine and without too many people visiting initially – it is for these two reasons that I would suggest she isn’t homed with children (even older children as they still take a lot of parents time and also can tend to have different friends round). As a final note, at the moment Misty is not socialised or comfortable enough to be taken to dog training classes of any kind just yet. She has been assessed by my behaviourist who is happy to talk to the new owners about offering them support and advice.’

Archie – 3 year old male Jack Russell Terrier

Archie is an adorable 3 year old long-haired Jack Russell Terrier – he has been recently clipped in this photo – doesn’t he look handsome? He has lived outside all his life with his brother, Ollie (also featured on DogsBlog.com). All WARAS dogs must be kept inside in their new homes.

WARAS_Archie

He is house-trained and has lived with cats and children, although the cats stay out of his way and he is quite bouncy so older children would be best. He is okay with other dogs and would probably enjoy a female dog to play with!

Ollie – 2 year old male Jack Russell Terrier

Ollie is a very loving 2 year old long-haired Jack Russell Terrier, like his brother he has recently been clipped and looks very handsome! Ollie has not received enough socialisation with other dogs, and will bark/growl and may snap at them, we feel that this is a fearful reaction toward other dogs and training and socialisation classes would help Ollie to stop this behaviour.

WARAS_Ollie

Like his brother, Archie (also featured on DogsBlog.com), he has lived outside all his life – he MUST be an indoor dog in his new home. He is a cheeky chap and can be a bit of a handful due to the lack of training he has had so far. We would like Ollie’s new home to approach training with a firm but kind approach. He has lived with very dog savvy cats who stay out of his way, and has also lived with children, although he is quite bouncy so older children may be best.

Sasha and Billy – 4 years old female and male Pomeranians

Meet Sasha and Billy! Sasha is a 4 year old Pomeranian, neutered female who is looking for a new home with her Pomeranian pal Billy (neutered), also 4 years old. She is out-going, very friendly and enjoys walks and cuddles on the sofa. She is not really used to children, other dogs and will chase cats. Sasha is a gorgeous lady who will be happy to have as many cuddles as you can give!

WARAS_Sasha

He is a lovely chap but does growl at strangers, so this will need to be taken into consideration if you wish to meet and/or adopt Billy. He is a bit babyish in his behaviour so really would benefit from some training to teach him how he should act. Once you get to know Billy he is a very sweet natured dog, it will just take a bit of time and patience. He is also not really socialised with other dogs, not use to children and will chase cats.

WARAS_Billy

Sasha and Billy have lived together all of their lives, so we would dearly love to find them a home together. We do understand that this is not always possible, however please do consider it if you can squeeze them both into your life!

Hooch – 1-2 year old male Staffordshire Bull Terrier Cross

Hooch is a Staffordshire Bull Terrier cross male, he is a very handsome chap and so young at just 1-2 years old! He is good with other dogs and quite playful with them. He has been good with the children he has met so far. He will chase cats and small animals.

Hooch is a typical young dog and needs some work on his commands – we don’t think anyone has spent much time with this special lad, so training classes would be very beneficial! He was also rescued from a pound where he was very close to being put to sleep – just to make room for more dogs. Hooch would love an active family, could that be you?

Sophie – 1 1/2 year old female Cross-Breed

Sophie is a 1 1/2 year old medium sized cross-breed female who came to us from Greece where she had been in a shelter for the past 14 months. Sophie is very, very nervous of people and her new home must understand that she may well carry her demons for years, she may never be confident around people.

We took Sophie as the rescue in Greece had exhausted their options on how to help her and just didn’t have enough time to devote to her needs. She needs a quiet, stable home with somone who is home all day to focus fully on her needs. She has been very good with the children she has met, but because of her nervous nature she may be unpredictable if startled, so as she is at the moment we will not be placing Sophie in a home with children.

She is good with other dogs and may benefeit from an older, confident dog to teach her the ways of the world. She has met cats here and has completely ignored them. The above photo of Sophie shows how she has come along since she has been here, when she is moved to a new home it will take time for Sophie to adjust and learn to trust you, but with alot of patience she will come around.

Molly – 3 year old female Staffordshire Bull Terrier Cross

Molly is a very beautiful Staffordshire Bull Terrier cross female, she is petite size and quite dainty. She is estimated to be approximately 3 years old. How she found herself in the pound, I don’t know. She is very affectionate, well behaved, mostly good with other dogs.

She has been good with children but will chase cats and small animals. She loves nothing more than to jump on your lap for a proper cuddle! Whoever gives this stunning girl a home will have a life-long, loyal companion and true friend.

Chico – 10 month old male Staffordshire Bull Terrier Cross

Chico is a 10 month old neutered male Staffordshire Bull Terrier cross. He is a great lump and a real softie! He is good with other dogs and loves children – he would adore a home with teenage children to play with! Currently untested with cats. Chico is okay on a lead and learns very quickly!

He will need somone at home for most of the day as his previous home left him shut in a small dark room as the lady wanted nothing to do with him, he was the mans dog. Chico would very much enjoy training and socialisation classes.
