Barney – 8 year old male Border Collie
Barney is a lovely 8 year old male Border Collie who is looking for a new home. He was signed over to the RSPCA by the owner’s farther. His son moved and couldn’t take Barney with him so he left Barney with his father who already had 3 dogs; he couldn’t cope with a fourth. He was with the same owner since a puppy. Barney is already castrated, he has been health checked, microchipped, wormed, flead and is fully vaccinated.
Barney is a super friendly dog who is used to children of all ages and is fine with dogs especially when he gets to know them. He’s always been a pet, not a working dog, he’s house trained, travels well and he’s good on the lead and apparently comes back when called.
He is a very active dog even for his age so needs plenty of exercise. He is ever so slightly overweight but he also has a very thick long coat which makes him look that way! He’s the kind of dog who would prefer a quiet area rather than a built up one (he doesn’t bode well with traffic and noisy vehicles) where he can be taken for nice long walks.
Barney was rehomed with another dog and children but sadly came back after just two nights, he’s such a lovely friendly dog but he wasn’t happy and took a dislike to the man of the house, for some reason he was clearly very wary of him and unsettled. Barney will settle nicely in the right home, we feel a pet free quiet home so he can settle with no distractions, with someone who knows the breed, would be more suitable, he will be a very loyal, playful and affectionate pet, he just needs time to put his trust in you.
