This is Barney who is a 1 year old Chihuahua cross Yorkie looking for a home. He was handed into rescue because his owner had been told that he had a heart murmur and she could not afford extra vet costs. We have had his heart checked by our own vet who listened very carefully and he cannot hear any problem. Barney does have a soft pallet (which is very common in small dogs). This causes him to cough sometimes when he gets over excited. He is now walked with a harness at walk times which doesn’t put any strain on his throat. Barney can be a little nervous so would not enjoy living with young kiddies, but could be homed with children of 12 years old and over.
Barney lives well with other dogs. He can be a bit happy with new dogs when out on walks, but this is nerves. He is very tiny so is a bit vulnerable! Barney is fine with cats, but suspicious of them. He starts off with a growl, but as long as they are not of any threat then he will quite happily live with them. Barney loves his cuddles and affection and will make a lovely addition to the family. His house training is a bit hit and miss. This is because he needs to gain confidence going outside on his own, but with another dog in the family then he will happily follow their lead.
Barney has been castrated, vaccinated and microchipped. He has been wormed and flea treated.
A homecheck will be carried out and a minimum adoption fee of £150 applies.
