This stunning boy is Benji, who is 2 years old, cat friendly and living in Eastbourne, Sussex. Benji is having to be rehomed because of a marriage break-up. Benji is a Retriever Cross, borne in July 2016 and he weighs 35kg. He has not lived with children so we are looking for an adult only, or with young adults in the home. Benji is one of 11 siblings, who were all rehomed. Their Mum was found in a Romanian town, pregnant again, and our rescuer took her in. Benji came over from Romania at 4 months old to his existing adopter.
Benji is a very loving, lovable boy, who is still a mere youngster – he loves to play and seems to have endless energy for long, long walks. He plays well with other dogs and has never shown any signs of aggression to any dogs. He lives with 2 cats that he mostly likes to ‘herd’ but occasionally will sit in the sofa with them to sleep.
Although Benji is a strong dog, he is good on the lead, but does not have great recall, so that needs to be worked on. He is a clever, trainable dog with a lot of energy that needs a good amount of exercise and stimulation, someone who understands him and is able to set boundaries and read his signals. He needs an experienced, confident, calm owner or who has plenty of time to exercise and care for him.
At the moment he can be protective over his family, and likes to sleep on the floor outside doors mostly, but also at the top of the stairs. He does bark at night in the garden but stops when he is called back inside. He copes well with being alone and has never whined at being left at all. He goes to kennels with ease and doggy day care on occasions, and always gets on well and has fun with the other dogs he plays with. He is great travelling in the car, whatever the distance.
Although he has got through the destructive puppy stage he still is one to take a chance if he sees something he likes i.e. purses, glasses and TV remote controls.
Benji is neutered, vaccinated, chipped, and has a passport.
