Benson is a British Bulldog. He is 6 years old. He was taken by travellers, in lieu of a debt at around a year old. He was kept by them until at around 2 years old a visitor to the site, saw him and concerned about his welfare bought him. He was given to a relative who kept him kenneled with two Bulldog bitches. After a while, they started bullying him, and so he was put on his own. Over the years they had him, he became withdrawn and shutdown. They decided they needed to rehome him and he came to us.
Over the first week or so Benson gradually came alive again and began to enjoy life. He started to walk on a lead instead of being carried, greeted people like old friends and generally cheered up. He loves other dogs and enjoys their company. He has not shown any aggression. He is a typical bulldog and can sleep for hours. He isn’t keen on the rain or the cold.
Benson stayed with me for the first couple of weeks. I took him upstairs at night. He was clean upstairs at night, but did a bit of marking at first, in areas other dogs had been. He has since moved into a foster home, and again marked a little to start with. But this has almost completely stopped. He has never marked in his fosterers mothers house, which he visits regularly. Or in another friends house.
Benson adores kids – my grandchildren are 2,3 and 6. His fosterers niece and nephew are 3 and 5. He sees all of then several times a week. Benson travels well too, though sometimes needs a little help to get in the car. He does sometimes simply sit down when on a lead and simply stop. This is usually in new places or situations. But given a moment to think about what ever concerns him, he generally carries on. You will need to be able to travel to South Wales, to meet / adopt Benson.
If you think you could be his new family please email us. And we will send you our adoption enquiry pack and questionnaire. please note ALL applicants and their homes will be vetted for suitability prior to an invitation to meet Benson.
