Billy – 6 year old male West Highland White Terrier

Billy is a 6 year old West Highland Terrier who is looking for a long term foster home.

He is a very handsome little West Highland Terrier. We think he may have previously belonged to an elderly person, as he is quite happy to bumble around with you all day and loves cuddles and fuss. 20 minutes exercise (and he walks well on the lead and has good recall) is enough for him at the moment. We think he would be better as an only dog as we think this is what he is used to or with a laid back dog his size or smaller.
He does have a bit of food aggression but this is easily managed. He hasn’t met any children in his foster home so we would say any children should be 10 years and older and dog savvy. He hasn’t met any cats either but he can’t be trusted with chickens. He’s very well behaved in the house, (he can’t jump on the sofa) and travels well in the car.

So why a Long Term Foster?

Little Billy came to us from the pound and it was obvious he had a problem. The vet diagnosed internal polyps covering the walls of the colon. These were biopsied and found to be benign but because there are so many of them they are inoperable. This doesn’t affect Billy, except that he does bleed a little after poohing and will need a special diet and medication for life. Hope pay all the expenses including medication for their Long Term Foster Dogs.

All Hope Rescue dogs are neutered, vaccinated, wormed, flea treated and microchipped prior to rehoming. A homecheck will be required, and you will need to come and meet the dog with your own dogs and family.
If you think you could give Billy a happy home for the rest of his life, please email Kate at fosters@hoperescue.org.uk
