Biscuit – 1 year old male German Shepherd cross Bull Mastiff

Hello, my name is Biscuit, I’m a 1 year old, male, German Shepherd cross Bull Mastiff. I arrived at The Mayhew because my previous owner was no longer able to care for me. I am a very enthusiastic and devoted boy. I love my cuddles, as well as having a good brush, especially on my belly.

Unfortunately I have not had the best start of life and as a result I haven’t been correctly socialised with strangers and other dogs. Although I will sometimes bark at strangers, I quickly form strong bonds with people who take the time to get to know me. I have shown myself to be a loyal, polite, calm, trustworthy, obedient and soppy companion with people I know. My nervousness around strangers, together with my dislike of other dogs, means I have to wear a muzzle and a long line when out on my daily one to two hour off lead walks in the park.

Like most dogs, I’m a dog who loves his toys; I enjoy nothing more than playing fetch with a good old tennis ball, as well as chewing on a rope toy. I also enjoy relaxing in my cabin with one of my carers in front of the TV. I’m extremely affectionate; I love to cuddle into you or lie across your lap, and I like to greet all my friends with full circular wags of my tail. I have quickly shown everyone at The Mayhew how intelligent and responsive I am. I’ve learnt new commands such as ’sit’, ’stay’, ‘come’ and ‘leave’ and I’m continuing to learn more. I am very obedient and will definitely enjoy attending training classes with my new guardians. I also walk well on my lead, I’m toilet trained and I can be left for a couple of hours without any problems providing I’ve had a good run before hand.

I am looking for an experienced owner who will continue working on my socialisation. They will have owned guarding breeds before and will have the patience and love that I need to really shine. I would ideally like to find a home where there is more than one person in the household to prevent me over bonding with one person. Any children will need to be at least sixteen years of age and upwards, and ideally I’d like to find a semi-rural home. My new guardians will be taking on a fourteen year commitment, which must not be taken lightly.

Hope to see you soon, Biscuit
