Bisquit is a 5-6 year old Retriever mix fostered in Macclesfield Cheshire. He is just such a special dog. He totally melts your heart with his sweet and shy nature. We believe Bisquit is a Retriever mix – he also acts a lot like the Gundogs Auntie Natasha has fostered before which makes her think he could even be Retriever/Sheltie/Spaniel mix he is a little bigger than a Springer and is around 50 cm tall and 16 kg, he’s a bit dodgy so are working on slimminghim down.
He was saved from a horrendous public shelter in Romania, where he was hiding in the smallest spaces he could find. He spent over 2 years in a private rescue and is now in foster in Cheshire with Natasha: “When Bisquit arrived he was absolutely terrified and hid in a tiny space with his face against the wall for 6 hours until we got in there and moved him out. He was in a total panic.Over the two months that he’s been in foster he’s undergone intensive rehabilitation and now he is so comfortable and settled, he sleeps next to our bed every night and totally trusts us to take him to new places and new situations. He has just started jumping up on the bed or sofa to sit next to you for cuddles!”
Bisquit is great with other dogs and cats, he lives with both in his home and has never had any issues with either. We feel that he needs to be rehomed at least one other confident dog so that he can copy them and take direction for them. We feel that he would be best with older children or adult home only as he would feel overwhelmed by younger kids or in a busy household. He needs someone with experience in helping shy and scared dogs, or someone who’s willing to learn and take our advice on how to handle him. He’s not the kind of dog that would just settle in immediately but he’s more than worth the effort, when he starts trusting you and comes to you for a cuddle it’s the best feeling in the world.
Bisquit has been fully lead trained and walks so well on a lead, he’s very sensitive to lead tension so he never pulls and always wants to be with you. We’ve been trying him off lead in safe areas and so far he’s been perfect off lead as well! He’s not a high energy dog but he is a little overweight, so around an hour’s walk a day is about what he needs to slim down and build muscle. Please consider lovely Bisquit he’s had such a horrible life and deserves the very best home after all he’s been through. He’s such a sensitive dog that he needs a calm and confident person or family who can override his fear instincts and keep working with him until he becomes a normal, happy dog. Bisquit is just such a special dog, he totally melts your heart with his sweet and shy nature.
Bisquit is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, wormed and deflead and has a passport.
