Brin – 8 month old male Collie cross Lurcher
Brin is just 8 months old, a Collie cross Lurcher mixture. What a handsome nice character Brin is. He is like a very soft furred clumsy teddy bear, but clumsy in a good way. Perfect for cuddles. He has had several changes in his life, despite this he appears well trained. He is very quiet and good in the car, not food/toy aggressive. He has good recall when off the lead, and is good with other dogs.
Brin, being an energetic breed will need a home which is willing to give him at least one off lead walk a day so he can burn off his energy As with any young dog if he is not given this he may become a bit of a handful. I believe he would enjoy the company of another dog so he can run around and play with them, perhaps a slightly older one who can ‘show him the ropes’, and one to put him in his place. I would not recommend him with cats or young children, purely because of his age.
He is very playful and likes nothing better to run around with a big toy in his mouth. His only problem as far as I can see is the fact that he likes the sound of his own voice when in certain areas of the house. He can’t be left in the lounge as he just barks, but he does not bark when his access is limited to the hallway – strange we know. He does go quiet when you tell him to. His previous owners also noted this, and had to give him up because they could not control his barking when they were out. We are working on trying to figure out why he does this. I believe that if someone has the time to spend training him not to do this, or can spend all day with him then he really would make a perfect pet, rewarding a loving owner with lots of laughs, smiles and exercise. Being fostered in Kingswood.
*Update 17/3/10* No barking at all from Brin and he has had the free run of the house, I’m very pleased with him. I would say he is better with someone who is at home all day, or at least has the company of other dogs… And someone who can take him for a walk first thing in the morning. He is also very intelligent and it would be easy to teach him tricks. He appeared on local radio the other day and was as good as gold in the studio.
