Candy – 13 year old female Yorkshire Terrier

Candy is a 13-year old Yorkshire Terrier girl who is being fostered in RCT, South Wales, and is looking for her own long-term foster home where she can spend the rest of her days. She isn’t a lapdog and is very much a loner, so please read her story before applying for her. Candy is most definitely a dog who likes her own company – although, she does hate to be left alone and needs someone home for most of the day – and will wander over to you for a fuss but then quickly retreats to her bed. She has met children and is much the same with them as she is with adults, so older children only, please, if any.

Candy is okay with other dogs but it would make no difference to her if she was rehomed as an only dog, or in a small pack. She loves her own company and as long as her person is in the same room she’s content. Not tested around cats. Candy is happy enough living in a home but does have a few housetraining mishaps from time to time, being an older girl. She doesn’t like to be left alone, likes to sleep in her own dog bed and is no lapdog. Her hearing isn’t the best so she doesn’t hear much of what goes on in the home!

Candy has very stiff joints in her back end, which means she walks a bit oddly until she loosens up. It doesn’t stop her getting around though. She does walk well on the lead but at her age, will not need much exercise and is happy to potter around in the garden. Due to her age, Candy will be rehomed as a long-term foster dog. There is no adoption fee and we will continue to cover her non-routine vets fees if necessary. She is looking for a quiet home where she is left alone to do what she wants to do. Her humans need to be home for most of the day and any visiting children do need to be older. Walks should be limited, due to her age and mobility.

Candy is neutered, chipped, vaccinated and up to date with her flea and worming treatment. Potential adopters will be expected to travel to meet her in her foster home in RCT, South Wales.

If you are interested in adopting Candy please read about our rehoming process and complete a Pre-Adoption form ( link here ) and one of our adoption coordinators will contact you for a chat.
