- Dogs Now Rehomed

Albert - 6 month old male German Shepherd Dog

Albert is a 6 month old German Shepherd male who is looking for a new home due to his previous owners ill health. He is a very friendly and sociable dog who knows basic commands, is toilet-trained and can be left alone for a few hours without problems. He is good with children of all ages, other dogs and cats.

abr_albert.JPG

He will need a minimum of one hour of off-lead exercise every day - whilst still young these need to be gentle socialisation walks building up to proper exercise once fully grown. He loves one-to-one attention, builds very strong bonds and is extremely loyal. He is also very loving and affectionate, and loves to give kisses.

Playful, lively and sweet-natured, Albert would be suitable for someone who has owned large breeds before and has plenty of knowledge of German Shepherds. He would happily live with cats, sensible older children and/or a well-trained adult dog. He would enjoy attending training classes as he loves to learn and is very eager to please.

He is looking for a home where he will be treated as an additional family member and will have plenty of quality time spent with him. Albert is looking for a perfect new home, a home where he will be loved and cherished for the rest of his life.

Frankie - 11 year old female Beagle Cross

Frankie is an 11 year old female Beagle cross. Frankie is spayed, micro-chipped, health checked, wormed/flead and has had her 1st vaccination (fell behind a year). Frankie has come into our care due to her owners change of circumstances, they do not have the time to give to Frankie any more and feel she deserves better.

rspcamacc_frankie1.jpg

What with a toddler and a baby on the way she is getting even less attention and this is not fair on her. We feel it’s kinder for Frankie to be rehomed from home. Frankie is young at heart, do not let age fool you she loves her walks, she’s a joyful dog with bags of character and despite her age is quite active, which is true to the breed!

She travels well in the car, is house-trained, she has her own sofa in the conservatory, well, at her age so she should! She’s good with children but can be nervous around boisterous noisy children, we’d prefer a child free home in order for a peaceful life!

rspcamacc_frankie2.jpg

She’s good with other dogs especially when off lead, on lead she can be quite vocal but this is only with some dogs, there’s only been a couple of occasions ever where she’s been grumpy. Her recall isn’t great but the minute you are out of sight she’ll come running! She can’t be rehomed with cats but would probably enjoy the company of a canine friend.

She is used to her walks offlead in fields so a rural area would be great, but as long as there’s nice country walks close by that’s fine. She loves cuddly toys in the respect that she rips them up! Oh and she’s a bit partial to pigs ears and tripe sticks!

We are looking for an experienced home for Frankie, where someone is at home most of the time, she’s a typical Beagle in that she is very loving, affectionate, friendly and enthusiastic, greedy and occasionally stubborn! Another trait that’s typical of the breed is the nose to the ground which is a past time she seems to like! Whoever adopts Frankie will not be sorry, she is such a lovely girl with lots to offer!

Angel - 2 1/2 year old female Greyhound

Angel is a 2 1/2 year old female Greyhound who was signed over to the Inspectors by the police as the owner has been taken into custody, Angel was left in the house and the owner signed her over for rehoming. We have liased with the owners mother. Angel was bred for racing and was in a kennel till she was 18 months old.

rspcamacc_angel1.jpg

She would not chase or race and that is how her previous owner got her. She was very much a nervous scared dog when he got her, she never knew how to play either, it’s clear that she was treated very badly by the men who had her for racing, it took a while for her to accept him but she did. She had a very happy life with her previous owner.

Whilst being in foster care Angel has come into contact with so many cats, dogs, animals, even having a run around with some cows! with no problems at all, she really enjoys the company of children so we can safely say she’s an angel with all creatures! We feel that she needs calm home quiet home as she is jumpy and timid, she’s had a hard life already so would like her to have a peaceful home, without toddlers/busy home, it would be nice for her to have a canine friend to teach her doggie things!

rspcamacc_angel2.jpg

The Dog Rehoming Co-ordinator is assessing her at present: At first she didn’t want to come into my house so I had to coax her. Because she was nervous I didn’t bother with testing her with my cat, it wouldn’t have been fair. But while at the kennels I took her into the boarding cattery, there were only a couple of cats in there but she wasn’t interested in them at all, I’m not sure if that’s because she’s lacking confidence or if she genuinely isn’t bothered by them.

In the car you don’t hear a peep out of her, however she is car sick so doesn’t travel well. Most of the time she didn’t know what to do with the balls I was throwing for her, don’t think she’s had much opportunity to play. But a couple of occasions she did run after the ball.

When I went back to the kennels one of the resident dogs was hanging around, a Spaniel pup who is full of play and mischief, he followed her nose to bum for ages and was pouncing around her, she didn’t show any interest in him whatsoever. There are also chickens, ducks and geese at the kennels and she’s not interested in them at all. So far she seems fine with other animals but we are still assessing her.

She really is an angel, a very gentle dog, she can be timid, so far she’s been particularly nervous around men, but she is the most affectionate loving dog. She adores to be with you and as one of the pics shows she likes to rest her head on your lap and close her eyes relishing the attention.

She is not a racing dog, she’s never been raced. Contrary to common belief just because Greyhounds are used for racing they are not overly active dogs, they love home comforts and normal walks like every other dog, they of course enjoy a run around off lead too. She’s to go to a loving cosy home where she can relax but have fun and enjoy life. A home with nice walks within walking distance or a short drive is a must. Whoever adopts her will not regret it, she will give so much love and joy you’ll wonder how you ever lived without a dog like Angel!

She had her 1st vaccination today, she is micro-chipped, she’s had a health check and has been given some medicated shampoo for some loss of hair and redness around her back end area-possible flea allergy. Angel will be spayed on Friday.

“Angel met various dogs today and was fine, she even came into contact with two cats in the vets who were hissing and rearing up at her and she didn’t react at all, she has come into contact with children and was fine. Seems Angel is a good all rounder! She is definately nervous of men, when she was with her ‘carer’ for today her male friend walked in and Angel rang out of the house into the garden away from him and suddenly did a ‘loose’ toilet, she doesn’t normally react this way, but she is wary of men generally, she just needs to gain trust in men and in time that will happen we are sure.”

Tyson - 9-10 month old male American Bulldog cross Staffordshire Bull Terrier

Tyson is an American Bulldog cross Staffordshire Bull Terrier male aged approximately 9-10 month old. He URGENTLY needs to find a new home, can you offer him a loving new home and place in your life? Tyson is great with people, excellent with other dogs and just a basic sweetie. He has got very sensitive skin and when he arrived with us (after being abandoned at a vets) he was absolutely covered from head to foot in Demodectic Mange. His skin was inflamed, itchy and bleeding.

cs_tyson.JPG

After a treatment with a spot-on mange treatment, plus a long course of antibiotics because of a skin infection, this problem cleared up but it is likely that he will need to stay on anti-hystamines for the rest of his life. He could live with older children, but is boisterous and would knock youngsters over.

A supply of anti-hystamines and some Malaseb shampoo will be provided to his placement. As you can see from his picture he still has a huge hair loss but we are now waiting for it to grow back! When he first arrived he was as bald as a babies bum and very scabby in places!

Vito - 18 month old male Staffordshire Bull Terrier

Hello my name is Vito, I’m an eighteen-month-old Staffordshire Bull Terrier who arrived at The Mayhew as a stray. I will happily greet strangers and I’m very loving and affectionate. I know basic commands and I’m well-behaved. My carers say I seem to be okay with other dogs. They don’t know what I’m like to be left alone or if I’m toilet trained because I arrived at The Mayhew without a previous history.

mayhew_vito.jpg

I’m a playful dog and I love my toys - especially ones I can tug on. My favourite treats are pigs ears. I’m active and bright and will need a minimum of one hour of off-lead exercise every day. My new guardians will have owned bull breeds before and will be willing to take me to training classes. I would happily live with sensible older children. My new guardians will be taking on a fourteen year commitment which must not be taken lightly.

Hope to see you soon, Vito x

Blaze - 12 year old female Terrier Cross

Blaze is a 12 year old small Terrier cross female. She is house-trained, can be left, is affectionate as she likes kissing and jumping on knees, loves a walk and a good sniff around. She is good with other dogs when on the lead, but not when off, so would be better homed as an only dog. Could someone offer this old lady a home to enjoy her retirement?
