Flash – 11 year old male Whippet
This gorgeous, sable coated boy is Flash, an 11 year old Whippet who is currently being cared for in an Oldies Club foster home while he is waiting to be offered that special, loving, permanent home.
Flash takes a few days to settle and suffered some separation anxiety at first, but now that he has bonded with his foster family, he is fine to be left for 3 hours which could be built up. He needs kind, but firm, boundaries. He is house trained and will follow a regular routine, though he does not let you know when he wants to go out. He would be happiest in a home where someone is around most of the time as he loves company.
Flash would be fine living with children from 7 years upwards who know when to allow him some time to himself.
Flash is living with several other dogs at the moment and, although wary at first, he gets on well with them. He doesn’t show much interest in cats and should be fine with a careful introduction.
Flash loves his walks and is very good on the lead, trotting along nicely and gently with good recall. He also behaves well in the car – he likes to stand up and look out of the window, but will lie down on long journeys.
Flash is neutered, vaccinated, worm and flea treated. He has a few fatty lumps that the vet is not worried about. He also has a grade 2 heart murmur, but no treatment or medication is required. He behaves well at his visits to the vet who thought him to be much younger than his 11 years.
Flash’s foster carer sums him up:
I love him already! Flash is affectionate, very gentle, laid back and playful. He likes to jump up for a cuddle. He loves his walks and seems to be able to keep going and, although quite small, he easily keeps up with the other dogs. He will be really missed when he goes to his new home. He is in a foster home in Milton Keynes.

Roman is a beautiful, large 9 months old Rottweiler pup. At 41kg he is a very strong, boisterous chap so his owner will need to be very experienced big dog owner. Roman is a very, very affectionate dog but has not been fully socialised with people and dogs so will need training to overcome his nerves with strangers. The foster is walking him with a gentle leader head collar to gain some control whilst out and about on walks. He is also being given basic training using “clicker training” techniques and he is learning very quickly.
He is living in the house with 5 other dogs to enable him to learn dog manners and get used to dogs and this is proving very useful in his education. But he still is nervous meeting new dogs. Roman is good in the house, sleeps quietly at night and can be left for short periods.
We strangely recommend professional training for this dog. We are looking for an active home where he will be a family pet and housed indoors and someone committed to providing him the time, attention and training he needs. This will be an absolutely super dog.

15Mar2010 | Friends Of The Animals RCT South Wales | READ MOREGracie – 2 year old female Lurcher
Gracie is a gorgeous Lurcher girl who is around 2 years old. She was found straying in Ireland during the bitterly cold winter and got her name from the Garda officer that saved her. She was in very poor condition when she was found and had a severe cut across her front left paw. This is now completely healed and Gracie is coming on in leaps and bounds. She is putting on weight and her coat is slowly improving too.
Gracie is currently in a foster home in Ireland, and is very grateful for the home comforts. She adores her people and soaks up all the attention you give her. She is a very easy girl who after a quick run around is content to sleep away in her bed, and is now fully housetrained. Gracie also gets on well with the 5 other dogs in the foster home which include a Great Dane cross and a blind Terrier. She loves going to the local forest in the car with the other dogs, but likes to be lifted in and out. Her fosterer thinks its because she sees two of the older dogs getting lifted in and wants the same treatment! She is very well behaved in the house, her only weakness being toilet paper – she thinks she is the Andrex Puppy and will run all over the house with it if given the chance!
This little gem of a dog is currently in a foster home in Ireland, but can be transported to the UK if a suitable home offer comes up. All transport costs will be very generously paid by her fosterer. Gracie is a special girl who has had a tough life so far and now really deserves her forever sofa. She is sure to be a delightful, rewarding member of the family.
