Justice - 5-6 month old male American Bulldog

Justice is a 5-6 month old male American Bulldog who was brought to Battersea by his owners as he is deaf and they felt that they could not cope with this and having young children around. Justice is a puppy, he will grow to be a large dog so will need a large home and garden.

battersea_justice.jpg

Justice will need experienced rescue dog owners or experienced owners used to large bull breeds like Boxers or American Bulldogs, knowlegde or experience of deaf dogs would be an advantage also.

New owners will need to be patient and dedicated as although deaf dogs are rewarding they need more time and work dedicated to their training. Justice needs all basic training and social work from scratch, this may include house training but travels well in a car.

Justice is a real boisterous and comical character, with the right handling and approach he will be a rewarding and fun addition. Unfortunatley at this stage Justice cannot live with another dog or children, an all adult household is preferred, although older teenagers would be considered.

Justice is a beautiful boy and in the right home will blossom, if you feel he is the dog for you please contact the rehoming team at Old Windsor on 01784 494443, apply online or email us on bow.rehomers@dogshome.org.

Butch - 3 year old male American Bulldog

Meet Butch, a 3 year old male American Bulldog. Butch was due to be put to sleep, but after a rushed and urgent transport request we managed to get him over to Surrey and into Furry Friends Animal Rescue where he is now safe and not in any danger of being put to sleep.

Butch’s past is sketchy. I know that he has spent the first 18 months of his life in a dog crate. He is a huge dog and this was probably due to a puppy bouncy nature. During this time he was physically abused by a male and because of this he is suspicious of men. He is a complete softy with women though!

ffar_butch1.JPG

Butch was rescued by a lady who started his rehab, but even though she tried desperately to get him into a rescue she kept getting turned away because everywhere is full. An appeal went out to try and save him and just 24 hours before he was due to be put to sleep I agreed to take him.

He travelled down to us from Northampton due to some kind volunteers and now the work starts. This is Butch when he arrived. He was muzzled because the transporter was a man, so it was just or safety’s sake. The reason I’ve included this picture is not to give the wrong impression of Butch, but to give potential owners the chance to see how he looks with his muzzle on. Here he is in his full glory…

ffar_butch2.JPG

Butch has to be walked onlead with a muzzle on, so I am looking for someone who has a large garden to exercise him in so that he has a bit of free run. The reason for his muzzle is because of his nature with other dogs and he does not like cats. He has been used to this for the last year and stands patiently and lets you put the muzzle on him with no fuss or bother.

Although Butch is suspicious of men, this only lasts until he gets to know that the person isn’t going to hurt him. He gave my work colleague a very sly look when he first met him, but after two minutes of an ear rub he was playing fetch the green, muddy toy and rolling about on his back like a puppy! He is a bit stubborn, but that is typical of the breed.

Butch is going in to be castrated, microchipped and first vaccinated tomorrow and new photographs and a video of this lovely boy playing will follow so that everyone can see what a fantastic dog he is really!

Any potential adopter will have a full homecheck and will need to be able to travel to Surrey to meet him. Butch cannot be homed with children and must go as an only dog. He needs an owner who will put everything into his retraining (which will be started now but will need to be continued) and someone who is confident with big, strong dogs.

Ruby

Ruby is a wonderful standard American Bulldog bitch aged around 11 months old. Ruby came to us from the local pound as she was handed in by her owners as they no longer had time for her and they had a baby on the way, they were very upset to have to hand her in to the local pound as they have had Ruby from an 8 week old puppy, but they were thinking about Ruby and wanted her to have the best life possible, so they said their tearful goodbyes and left Ruby in the pound.

In reality in goes like this ………….  Ruby was bred by a breeder was given a poor diet then the breeder sold her to her new mum and dad as an 8 week old puppy still she was not given the correct puppy food from day she was taken home, so poor Ruby due to human ignorance legs didn’t grow correctly her foot had turned upside down she had the equivalent to rickets in humans a lack of vitamin D.

Ruby is now on a correct diet and her feet are improving daily, she is also taken for a short walk, which is helping to strengthen her bones. Ruby is now looking for a new home where she will be loved and cared for correctly for the rest of her life.

Ruby will need to be on puppy food until she is around 2 ½ years, she will need restricted exercise. She is good with some dog’s mostly larger dogs that likes to play rough. Ruby is looking for a home with older children that are robust!

Ruby is looking for a home with a large secure garden. She will need lots of daily hugs and kisses! Ruby will be neutered, vaccinated and micro-chipped. So come along and see our beautiful Ruby!
